Don't make fun of whoever is selling, you don't know WHY They're asking that price. Just point it out that the same item is available for less somewhere else. It helps both parties: The sellers, if they didn't know about the price difference and can change it, and potential buyers, that can save money.

This thread is less about people turning a profit/getting a deal and more about helping each other with items we don't want anymore but somebody else might.

No. He took the initiative to create a list of feedback people posted in the thread so that it could be collated in one spot. Again, that doesn't give him the implicit authority to determine what the feedback rating of posters should be.

He's not a moderator. It's not his job to police the thread. NeoGAF moderators will not get involved with actual transactions but if you feel something is mucking up the thread, you should pm them. If I'm doing a transaction with someone, all I care about is their status as a buyer/seller, not as a poster on NeoGAF.

The Rock Band thread got busted up for becoming an insular clique. What do you think is going to happen here if you get a regular poster abusing power to elevate themselves to faux-mod status?

I check this thread a couple times a day, and I completely agree with you. It wasn't too long ago that MidnightScott was complaining about people pointing out that his prices were too high in comparison to online deals. I'm not trying to call him out, but the list is not something that is to be held over user's heads to get them to comply with something.

Nothing wrong with pointing out a deal that is cheaper online, it doesn't mean that the seller has to mark it to that price. Price how you want to; if it doesn't sell it should be an indication that either there is no demand for your goods or it is overpriced.

I'm sorry for the mess that this whole argument brought. I was not trying to start a mini-war of egos and I regret that it's gotten to this with myself included in the ego department. I believe that it is okay to post better deals when I see them. To me that is the base point of this thread as has been stated before by people. If we were all looking to make a killing we would post this shit on Craigslist or eBay but I thought this thread was a place to offer a safe haven for a like-minded community to trade and sell games at a reasonable price where both parties walk away happy. This is one of the real good aspects of the closed community that GAF offers. I took that good will towards bargains as a sign that posting a better deal would be appreciated. To me this gives a heads up to the seller that their prices may be a bit high and lets uninformed buyers know that a better deal exists for them out there. I get a little hot-headed when I perceive someone coming into this thread and attempting to hock their wares at an exorbitant price and that's my fault for taking it so personally. I know people bag on extraneous conversations going on but sometimes this shit needs to be aired so people know what to expect from certain members. I got carried away when practice02 got into the name calling so for my part in those responses, "I'm sorry". I only ask that my feedback not be hung over my head like some sort of guillotine that is used to threaten me when an argument occurs or people disagree though and I appreciate the support in this area from some of my fellow boardies. Once again I'm sorry if you think I'm wasting your time and hope that we can get back to the business at hand. Now if I had a guitar and could sing "Kumbaya" I would but I'm unfortunately untalented in that area.

1. the seller may honestly not know (which potentially means they did no homework on establishing a value for their item)
2. they may be trying to prey on a potential buyer's ignorance as to the real value of the item

either way, good information is spread and shared, and bad information is done away with. either we educate somebody about bringing the price down on an item, or we ferret out potential jerks. no big deal.
