I reall wish they would return to actually pacing the campaigns in a reasonable manner. This one was just all shooting, all the time. A total bore. I really miss stealth or variety missions, as well as characters that actually have personalities.

The MP would have actually made a much better campaign. The specialists could have been the characters, plus the levels themselves are much more interesting. A campaign level like Evac or Redwood would have been really cool, I always wonder about the "story" when I play them.

MP, while universes ahead of Ghosts and AW, is still garbage to me.

Not even in the same ballpark as Blops 2.

While I don't think it's garbage. I do think it's just alright. Not better than AW (I know I'm a minority on this) leagues better than Ghosts, but no better than any of the other games in the series.

There are things I really love about it but I think the biggest issue for me is the maps, while they're not particularly bad, they aren't great either. They're all just good.

Anyone having problems losing campaign save data? Twice now it has happened to me, I finished the first mission and saved and quit at the beginning of the second. When I came back there was no score for the first mission and the game started me from the beginning. So I went and played the second mission until the final "training" and again I saved and quit, I wanted to play some more today but again there was no save data. Weird for such a linear campaign to suffer from this.

They are so bad compared to Blops 2.

first off, offline and online have 2 separate save files.

But when you first boot up the game, pay attention to the numbers at the top of the screen in the start menu. Wait for them to update, once the game is updated and you properly connect to the servers you should be able to get your save file back. If you load the game before it updates and start a new campaign then it's either going to start a local campaign, or it's going to start an online one which will overwrite your other one since it's stored on their servers.

I'm surprised more people are throwing up a fuss about this since it's pretty shitty.

Eh, agree to disagree.

Not sure how weapons were better in BLOP2, unless you like everyone running the same 3-4 weapons.

This game has way more variety, and so far the balance has been very good. Almost every weapon I've used seems to be viable.

Also I like how scorestreaks in this game aren't OP; although they should be harder to shoot down. A lightning strike in BLOPS2 was a surefire 3+ kills, and could be earned 3-4 times a game for example.

I do think the Maps were better though. Although these maps are pretty good, only a couple stand out as really good. The rest are average - pretty good. None are bad for me though. Wish there were some night maps though, not sure what happened there.

Going to ask: are you making sure you are in the right campaign mode? There is an OFFLINE and ONLINE campaign mode and they are both separate. The save does not carry over.

I wish I knew how good HIVE was from the jump. It's so satisfying seeing people just run into them like complete dumbasses. Yet another weapon that's underutilized imo.

This. Blops 2 had better maps, better weapons, better use of Pick 10, etc.

Black Ops 2 might be my fave CoD MP ever.

BO2 definitely did not have better maps or weapons. I can already think of two that were really terrible because of how basic and linear they were. I'm assuming you mean weapon balance in BO2 which pales compared to BO3 since weapons are much more balanced and tame here than any CoD before it. Right now, you can't really go wrong with any gun that isn't a shotgun in BO3 and there isn't any serious TTK problems.

So on the fence about this game. Last COD I played was AW, and I played a lot and had a lot of fun with that. But I'm aware it's like radically different from "traditional" Call of Duty gameplay. The last game besides AW I played was Black Ops 1...but I think I might be down for a more traditionally playing COD again cause it's been a minute.

You guys think this is a good game to come back to?

Got a legendary gun piece for man o war and it looks like the only difference between it and standard is a glowing dot on the side? lol, so lame.

This last chapter is more annoying than the
mothership. Enemies spawning out of thin air
from every angle. Seriously, if you're going to make a difficulty and call it realistic where you go down in one hit, then enemies need to also die in one hit. These last 2 chapters are almost taking me as long to beat as all the previous ones combined.

Going to have to try Quickdraw, stock and grip with my pharo when I get home
TBH I don't have an issue with moving targets the sticky aim is so damn sticky. Strafing isn't too much if an issue in a face to face: whoever gets the drop usually wins.

I say ditch the stock. Grip+Quickdraw are a benefit, although quickdraw really works well when NOT running. While running its still too slow to get a drop on someone just walking or camping.

I walk corners because of this.

Wait, so I have to do a Fresh Start to get 100% of everything? Damn you Treyarch, I even got two weapons up to Gold. I'm up to prestige 1 level 41, so maybe it won't hurt too bad, that's just 41 levels lost.

edit: Shit, I even prestiged the Gorgon twice before the nerf, fuck.

I have a question about configurations to get my NAT to open. I'm hoping there are some networking experts here who can give me some advice on this as it's been a source of frustration.

Ok so I game in my basement where the wifi coverage isn't the greatest. After complaining to my ISP, they installed a hub in the basement and connected it to the rest of the network through hard wire so that I can connect a 2nd router to expand my coverage (It's on the other end of the room, too far to run a cable). However this means that my main modem/router is feeding to a hub, which is feeding to another router, which finally, is sending a signal to my console via wifi. I get great speeds and 100% signal, but I know the connection for twitch based games like COD is not optimal and I'm seeing some lag at times, as well as showing moderate NAT in the COD main screen.

So knowing how the network is configured, is there a set of steps I should take to ensure NAT is not doubled or even tripled up, causing sub-optimal connections? I'm not sure who else to ask since my situation is likely very unique.

Thanks for any help anyone can give!!

Got the shieva and holy shit....went from .9 kdr to being upset if I'm under 1.5 lol. Almost feels too easy with high caliber, laser sight and rapid fire.

I still can't believe they essentially killed the shotguns in this one. Like, the nerf to the haymaker makes it inconsistent now. Not as inconsistent as the others but enough that I roll my eyes now.

Something I never understood with CoD and shotguns. They always make them useless after patches in the long run.

Been following the same ideas trust me, but still, when I lose gun fights smg vs smg it's almost 95% because my opponent has that configuration, every little thing matters

So I'll just try it, see how it goes

Trust me, there's some attachments I do not want to give up

So different playing with GAF

Ggs guys

Also, Quickdraw, stock and foregrip and extended max freaking works for me after all!

Edit: mothership!

They took it down tho lol

The only way to play Black Ops 3 right now is through hardcore modes (be it TDM, Kill confirmed, or S&D)

Finally found a clan last weekend (through some crazy luck) and the team is pretty sweet (a couple of dads killing time pub stomping, the usual dude who knows everything, the dude always playing CoD drunk, and me) and liking it a lot more.

Starting to win games by actual skill, map awareness, and teamwork cannot wait to play again next weekend.

Hmm you can do this in core?

Played some of this at a buddy's. The mp is still the same old junk its been for iterations now.

I don't understand why they don't make a more refined experience instead of this casual clustetfuck. Cod could be so good. It has been so good. May e this just sells better I guess

Casual?

You must sprint around the map and get shot in the back a lot.

It's actually pretty difficult to stay alive or hold a domination spot in cod.

You die pretty easily so if you aren't playing smart and using the map to your advantage you will probably die quick.

Still having a lot of fun with the multiplayer, but I think my biggest gripe so far is that the weapons so far aren't as unique to one another as they were in BO2. On the maps, I think I agree with the sentiment above about there being few standouts, and the layouts have been pretty boring, but I don't think they're bad. There's at least one map I haven't even had a chance to play on yet(at level 30), and Combine fails at being the Hijacked of this game. It isn't fun in the same ways.

I think it's stupid to nerf guns within the first week too before the majority of players have even had a chance to unlock and use them, but the balance is already better than AW managed for its entire lifetime.

Funny thing is.. this wasn't the last kill :(

yup, they were playing another game, because I finished Blops 3 and it was my least favourite single player of any since CoD3.
The script was godawful, voice acting didn't rise above the risible material and the story was awful. You may think these things aren't necessary for a CoD campaign, but a bad one detracts from the experience. I really enjoyed AW's SP but I found this an awful slog. I played the second half on casual just to finish with it and move onto another game.
Those last levels where Ben Browder sounds like he's having a mental breakdown, you can almost hear him thinking "well, that's my acting career done."
Lack of variety, or at least, constant cycling of the same 3 or 4 environments, made it feel really padded. Destroyed base in darkness, destroyed city in darkness, rinse and repeat. And then the shit at the end was just "what the fuck am I playing?"
Worst of all, it felt like there was no real connection to the previous BO games and many of the themes felt like they were done more interestingly in AW just last year.
Even worse is that the next CoD is likely to be from Zombie-IW.

I played more than 24 hours of multi since launch and only have one AR left to unlock but I think I'm done with CoD till next year.

I wish they would buff teammates.

Also, a friendly note to team players: if you cannot grab B flag because of how heated it is, don't keep going to it expecting a difference. You're merely feeding them scorestreaks and it makes it harder for others to get anything done.

Luckily, scorestreaks aren't as powerful and easy to get like in older CoDs, but it still holds your team back if you are constantly supplying the enemy with UAVs and Hellstorms. Take your time, go around, or use cover to pick off defenders.

Most people may not see the importance of KDR, but it becomes important in this aspect.

I think I used the ICR without any attachments almost to its max level. For some reason, that gun does really well with me without any attachments. Went back to the KN44 and I have been using it with the grip + any other attachments for extra XP. The Iron Sights are actually great on both as well.

I wish they would buff teammates.

Man... The UAV and CUAV spam in some matches. I made a new build without launchers, but I totally regretted it earlier that I'm just going to use Ghost again on that kind of build.

In another game, teammates were just feeding them over and over while I stood back and got flankers + UAVs/CUAVs that I built enough score to get RAPS. -_-
