High Caliber on weapons like the M8 and especially the Shieva makes sense, and also if you are doing the headshot challenges. Drift0r said that the high calibur takes the headshot multiplyer from 1.1x to 1.5x which should make all three shot weapons two shot weapons if you get two headshots.
I posted this earlier in the thread, but I seem to do better with no weapon attachments and six perks. At first I thought it was just a rare occurrence but after having done the no attachment challenges for both ARs and SMGs, I have to say that weapon attachments really dont make that big of a difference in this game.
I got in a really bad habit of running Long barrel on all my SMGs and ARs thanks to Drift0r calling it the best attachment in the game, but most ARs have great range anyway. placebo effect is definitely in play here since Rapid fire only gives you a 6.6% increase but I feel it makes Man of War and Shieva that much more dangerous.
So when it comes to placebo effect, i think the difference with most attachments is definitely that... all in your head. Perks on the other hand give you more tangible benefits.
I think Sixth Sense will save more times than not from those camping noobs. Overclock will earn you an extra Special Weapon ability that could grant you 2-5 extra kills. Ante up will get you streaks faster. Cold Hands coupled with Quickdraw will get you those kills anytime someone runs into you. Awareness is probably the only crutch perk in the game and Engineer/Tactical Mask/Dead Silence will save you from mines, concussion grenades and people using awareness. I usually roll Engineer to re-roll my care packages and I get at least three raps/wraith/cerberus everyday. After almost a thousand care packages i even got three G.I Units last week.
Of course I say that I still cant break the habit and still use 4 attachments on my guns.
Yeah, I hear you. I might experiment and use just an ELO sight on the XR-2 and see if I can still kill people at the same rate. I tried foregoing long barrel (since drift's vid shows how erratic it is due to the weird recoil), and high caliber isn't that big of a deal I think since I don't go for headshots (body shots since I use the XR-2 for super long ranges).
I tried using the Razorback with rapid fire and eh. Don't feel that big of a difference. I do use a suppressor on it along with fast mags though.
I dunno, some of the attachments for guns feel like they don't do anything aside from the ones that are obvious (stock, quick draw, fast mags).
On another note, I used the Dead Silence perk for the first time and don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but it helped a ton. Is it that powerful? I managed to sneak by a lot of people and even managed to camp in the enemy spawn repeatedly.
I normally use Ghost, Scavenger (since I always run out of ammo), Engineer (re-rolling care packages is awesome), and now, Dead Silence.
Thoughts, GAF? Are gun attachments not that useful (high caliber, long barrel mostly), and thoughts on Dead Silence? I used Awareness, set audio to supercrunch and had my Sony Gold headsets on but didn't feel like I could hear footsteps due to the constant gunfire, stream callouts, etc.
