I like the ICR a lot. Sure its damage is weak but the recoil is predictable and it's great long range.
Oh god I hated the recoil on the ICR because while it has little to not vertical recoil, it has this annoying horizontal recoil that wobbles side to side and misses half of the shots. It's fucking bizarre and I lost way too many gun battles due to that.

But it's still not as bad as the haymaker which is a hit marker machine. Three shots at mid range will give you hit markers, two shots on the face at point blank range will give you hit markers, you will lose every close quarters battle against a SMG or an Assault rifle user.

Two really awful weapons in an otherwise perfect roster.

Been a while (Damn you Xenoblade) but I'm starting to get back into this. Verix 3 + Suppressor still work for easy longshots?
I posted this earlier in the thread. Hardcore+Thermal worked really well for me for all assault rifles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgPWFbsoyiw

Pretty much every kill chest up is a one shot kill in hardcore so even with short range, low damage rifles like the HVK you should be able to get them in 1-2 games max.

The starting assault rifle is pretty good it seems. Which is the best automatic assault rifle overall?

Depends on your playstyle really. HVK melts everything in close range thanks to its rate of fire. Man of fire might lose to some SMGs at close range but its probably the best all round gun in the game. I just dont see any reason to use KN-44 over the HVK or the Man of War.

ICR is trash. XR2 can kill with one burst, but something is off with that gun because that doesnt happen at all times.

So I went back to World at War, and am going through the older COD games. After quitting some hacked games that idiots decide to play (guy had god mode and aim bot), I found a nice game and played it.

One thing I really miss:

Factions felt unique. The Imperial Army's victory music, the German victory music, the American victory music. The different announcers.

With specialists, that isn't there anymore. Regardless of if you're Black Ops or the other team, you are playing against the same 9 characters. Would be real nice if they added 9 more mirror characters that were exclusive to a faction. It's actually kind of weird to me how they dropped that aspect of the game.

I feel like with specialists it's just them trying to chase after the sort of personality you'd see in a MOBA like Dota or League of Legends. I actually quite like the specialist system but I'd like to see them go further with it. Like you mentioned, dividing up the specialists and putting them in factions, and also adding more diverse ones with just fucking weirder abilities. The only thing I'm worried about is if they add factions, and they just do fuck all with it and it just rings hollow and doesn't do anything meaningful. The faction system in MKX kind of felt like that to me outside of the faction-specific fatalities. I'd like to see the HUD change from faction to faction, different music, maybe even faction specific weapons (worried about potential balance issues though but if anyone can pull this off I think Treyarch can) and armour sets or whatever.

Also I miss War from World at War. That game mode was so fucking ridiculous and I was glad to see it revived (sorta) in Advanced Warfare.

Why do people hate the icr. The gun is a beast.

Probably cause it feels like a hitmarker machine. Even outside any real logical stats, I think that's how most people view it anyways. To be honest, I didn't start liking it until I put high caliber and long barrel on it and started popping heads. Stuff like the XR2, Shieva and M81 can do a lot of damage and there's more I guess quick satisfaction out of using them hence the general preference. The AK is just in the middle (that's why I like it though).

That's a big disconnect I have with this game. It being a virtual game within a game, the clone specialists, and the Winner's Circle crap just creates a massive cognitive dissonance for me.

So I can't continue on with the campaign as long as the PSN is under maintenance!? WTF!?
I didn't renew my xbox live for a month and beat half the campaign on Realistic. Renewed live, go to play online and says my offline memory isn't the same as the online. I ain't doing that shit again.

Can't link to it, because it is a scan, but the official guide for BO3 has recoil plots, and the ICR has the tightest recoil for full auto AR, both vertically and horizontally.

How would that even be possible? The ICR is a freaking laser. It's got to be something like the Man of War or KN-44 for full autos.

EDIT: NVM, i read highest not tightest. *bangs head on desk*

Courious why you think that. I mean it is pretty good in hardcore as are all the guns but the gun takes 5 hits to kill someone. The problem I was running into non stop was was that I'd shoot someone 2 or 3 times first and they would just have a gun that kills me in 3 or 4 shots and I would lose every gun fight.

Yeah, on hardcore even the Weivel is a one shot one hit kill machine. In core, the weivel, the haymaker and the ICR are all useless because of their poor base damage. Haymaker is the worst because it has no range.

I am shocked to hear that the ICR has the tighest recoil so maybe the wobble was caused by my controller's vibration, but i distinctly remember it happening.

The ICR's weakness is it's TTK, lowest at close range and the only two guns it beats at longer range at semi-autos.

It is probably a gun that inaccurate players will enjoy.

I also have success with the Weivel in Core. I find that it is the best, barring the Razorback which is basically an SMG-AR hybrid, at picking off distant players thanks to the controllable recoil. The Vesper and VMP want to climb through the ceiling and the Pharo is burst so tough to remain on target over distance.

We'll adjust my gameplay depending on the gun. Running into someone with a vmp will most likely cost you your life.

Just don't run and gun constantly with the icr.

Totally agree with you!

I loved the old factions and the fact player models were different, now it's just the same characters in different outfits.

You'd have thought with three years they could've done an amazing job on these.

The starting assault rifle is pretty good it seems. Which is the best automatic assault rifle overall?

The XR-2 is my jam. It's my most used AR in the game and I hate burst guns.

I use ELO, high caliber, long barrel, and stock. What's funny is, I sometimes take out high caliber and long barrel and replace it with grip or rapid fire and I honestly don't even notice a difference. o_O

Depends on your playstyle really. HVK melts everything in close range thanks to its rate of fire. Man of fire might lose to some SMGs at close range but its probably the best all round gun in the game. I just dont see any reason to use KN-44 over the HVK or the Man of War.

It's due to the XR-2's weird recoil that sometimes kicks in or doesn't. I mean, there's some recoil but it's not consistent.

I've watched dr1ft0rs In-Depth videos (must watch for Black Ops 3 players, I think), and I have no clue if long barrel and high caliber is worth it on XR-2. I tried using it and not using it, and the gun felt the same. Rapid fire, too. Placebo effect? I don't feel the gun's time to kill is better with long barrel due to its weird recoil. High caliber is OK, but given how weak the headshot multiplier is, is it even worth it?

Anyone else feel that vision pulse deserves a buff?

I'd rather my teammates see my targets and get assist points, and I'd rather not get painted on the map. It also feels like it lasts too short. It just seems like there are better abilities to use. Does it charge faster to make up for it or something?

Something is off with the bullet spread on its bursts. It's really apparent if you line up a shot long range on a small target like someone's head. I almost never get multiple hit markers in a single burst like that.

I think it's alright though. I got up to 1100 kills with it with a 1.8/1.9 k/d or something before I realized you can just hold the trigger down for auto burst recycling. Whoops.

High Caliber on weapons like the M8 and especially the Shieva makes sense, and also if you are doing the headshot challenges. Drift0r said that the high calibur takes the headshot multiplyer from 1.1x to 1.5x which should make all three shot weapons two shot weapons if you get two headshots.

I posted this earlier in the thread, but I seem to do better with no weapon attachments and six perks. At first I thought it was just a rare occurrence but after having done the no attachment challenges for both ARs and SMGs, I have to say that weapon attachments really dont make that big of a difference in this game.

I got in a really bad habit of running Long barrel on all my SMGs and ARs thanks to Drift0r calling it the best attachment in the game, but most ARs have great range anyway. placebo effect is definitely in play here since Rapid fire only gives you a 6.6% increase but I feel it makes Man of War and Shieva that much more dangerous.

So when it comes to placebo effect, i think the difference with most attachments is definitely that... all in your head. Perks on the other hand give you more tangible benefits.

I think Sixth Sense will save more times than not from those camping noobs. Overclock will earn you an extra Special Weapon ability that could grant you 2-5 extra kills. Ante up will get you streaks faster. Cold Hands coupled with Quickdraw will get you those kills anytime someone runs into you. Awareness is probably the only crutch perk in the game and Engineer/Tactical Mask/Dead Silence will save you from mines, concussion grenades and people using awareness. I usually roll Engineer to re-roll my care packages and I get at least three raps/wraith/cerberus everyday. After almost a thousand care packages i even got three G.I Units last week.

Of course I say that I still cant break the habit and still use 4 attachments on my guns.

Suppressor doesn't actually do anything for long shots it turns out, but the Varix zoomed all the way out halves the long shot distance.

6 perks does seem strong. The thing is you can pick up guns with attachments but you can't pick up perks from anywhere lol

Yep, those versions are ass, don't buy them.

Spent days on PS4 MP and it's been great for the most part.

Joined a losing game where some party are owning the shit out of my team. Next game, got a GI Unit from a CP. which led to my HATR and RAPS. Look at the scoreboard and only 1 dude is left. And it's not even near the end of round 1. lol

First game since PSN came back online. Kill Confirmed 7 vs 5 with 4 people on one time with hacked prestiges. Yep, this is definitely the COD I know.

GG on the one match I played with you guys. On the wrong team though. Sorry if my shock charge spam was annoying; I'm trying to work on the tacticals challenge. Those things are a lot better than I thought they'd be.

Whew, campaign on realistic is done. Wasn't that bad with extended camo and drakon+thermal+FMJ. Couple parts are pure bullshit on the difficulty though. Like, spawn into an area and nearly instantly die kind of bullshit

edit: looking back, I actually have no idea how the campaign would even be beatable on realistic if active camo didn't exist

Yeah, I hear you. I might experiment and use just an ELO sight on the XR-2 and see if I can still kill people at the same rate. I tried foregoing long barrel (since drift's vid shows how erratic it is due to the weird recoil), and high caliber isn't that big of a deal I think since I don't go for headshots (body shots since I use the XR-2 for super long ranges).

I tried using the Razorback with rapid fire and eh. Don't feel that big of a difference. I do use a suppressor on it along with fast mags though.

I dunno, some of the attachments for guns feel like they don't do anything aside from the ones that are obvious (stock, quick draw, fast mags).

On another note, I used the Dead Silence perk for the first time and don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but it helped a ton. Is it that powerful? I managed to sneak by a lot of people and even managed to camp in the enemy spawn repeatedly.

I normally use Ghost, Scavenger (since I always run out of ammo), Engineer (re-rolling care packages is awesome), and now, Dead Silence.

Thoughts, GAF? Are gun attachments not that useful (high caliber, long barrel mostly), and thoughts on Dead Silence? I used Awareness, set audio to supercrunch and had my Sony Gold headsets on but didn't feel like I could hear footsteps due to the constant gunfire, stream callouts, etc.

Long Barrel is to best attachment on ARs.

I like using Suppressor + Grip on SMGs, but it's mostly preference.

I also like Dead Silence, and is my red perk on all my classes, except my anti-air class. It's great with a silenced SMG and Ghost.

Also Optics are also personal preference. Guns like Pharo, Man-O-War, M8 I need it on, but guns like Weevil, Razorback, KN44, HVK, I like the iron sights enough to not use any.

And I usually use Flak Jacket + Ghost for the 1st perk, Fast Hand for 2nd, and Dead Silence for 3rd.

I do find them useful but having said that, I just maxed out the levels and prestige on the M8 and thought I'd start working on some of the camos so took all attachements off for the challenge and if I'm perfectly honest I didn't experience a lot of difference. The only thing I found myself missing is the ELO or reflex at the very least.

Also, been on the market for a different SMG as I'm a bit bored of the VMP which is one of my go-to guns so decided to try the Kuda seeing I kept getting owned by other players using it a lot and holy shit! Think I've seen the light now as the Kuda seems like a really sound allrounder.... Damn I wanna level it further and test it more along with some of my least played specialists but gotta go to work now! >.<
