You don't really know how the process of creating a game works. Making random buildings like those when you already got them done for earlier projects of yours, is a waste of time. Using old props is pretty much a given with titles like these. They are pretty similar visually, they share the same theme.. and they are made by the same company. Not reusing older stuff would be the more surprising thing.

Holy shit guys i was joking. Why so serious?

I swear every sarcasm post i make now i'll say that i'm joking.

Unbelievable.

People can't tell when you're kidding, when you give no indication. Take note that there are actual crazy people on these boards. I would put nothing past anyone here.

Oh so it's not just me then. Yep, it seems useless shotguns are back with a vengeance.

I actually got that it was sarcasm so no worries here. I noticed some too and ended up laughing a little bit at the fact that I actually remembered and recognized them.

The same thing happened to me when I noticed some buildings from BC2 in BF3. :D

Edit: Or if the post below me is correct, then I thought it was sarcasm based on the ridiculousness of the issue itself. There's always a few assets you'll find reused in a game franchise simply to save time when there's so much else to work on, especially when doing an urban scene where you need a large variety of buildings to fill the space.

You're pretty bad at conveying sarcasm.
£100 says it wasn't and he's just covering.

Also, I realised earlier this is the first CoD game I haven't completed within hours of it being released since 2. Does someone want to do my uni work for me so I can jump in? :(

Wait; killstreaks stack and cycle in this game? What the fuck were the devs smoking?

They stack up to your third not past it.

Encouraging players to continue kicking ass instead of suiciding when they reach their top streak, which was stupid and gamey?

It appears that UK attendees to the XP event won't get their free copy until next week, so fuck you Activision.

Luckily my girlfriend felt sorry for me and rented it from blockbuster.

Correct, but I'll also add that assault rewards do cycle through once you've used all three already, meaning that (provided you don't die) you have access to infinite rewards.

Maybe because we're tired of these posts, sarcasm or not? Seriously...

Right, that was my point - suiciding when you hit your top streak so you could streak again was tremendously stupid. In CoD4 your streak carried over so it was heli-die-heli to get another heli-die, repeat. That was dumb. In MW2 it was hit top streak, die, streak again. Also dumb.

Now you shoot dudes, and get streaks. This is good.

Complaining that it's somehow imbalanced is hilarious, if you're getting thrashed by some dude going 20-0 on a single streak, guess what, he's going to kick your ass anyway

Is there another developer out there making this MUCH CASH that has NOT INVESTED ANYTHING NEW technology-wise into their franchise? The copy and paste nature of the design is really irritating. The multiplayer maps are just bland, lifeless, uninteresting garbage.

I don't actually own the game - still trying to decide if this is something I want to try after burning out on W@W, then MW2, then Blops. So clarify for me:

Can you use Killstreak #3 to re-earn Killstreak #1, and continue from there?

If so, I don't care how dumb you think that deliberately dying was in MW2: you still had to re-earn your killstreak honestly. Now it seems that you could (theoretically) earn one high-powered killstreak, sit in the corner of the map, and never face anyone down with your real gun again. Or are the killstreaks just not that powerful?

Cycling killstreaks is fine; I even think stacking killstreaks is okay. But both...? Convince me I'm wrong here...

First and second stack, third does not. If you die, they don't stack. If you still have previous streaks active when you loop, they don't stack. First and second in any given streak, only.

And there's no Harrier now, so there is no easy jump from Pred to Harrier to AC130/Chopper Gunner/etc. The only offensive streaks between 5 and 9 are Precision Airstrike and Attack Helicopter, neither of which is going to rocket you to a power streak.

And there's several seconds of 'spawn protection' from killstreaks, though I doubt many people have noticed this yet. If you gib people with the Reaper/AC130/Osprey, they don't show up again for a moment. Pretty sure this applies to the automated streaks as well.

No - once you've used your third assault reward, you reset back to 0 but can get more kills to acquire your rewards again. Kills from your third reward don't count towards your first.

So, basically, let's say my three rewards are UAV (3 kills), Predator Missile (5 kills) and Attack Helicopter (7 kills). My kills from the Predator Missile will contribute towards my kills needed for the Attack Helicopter. Once I've acquired the Attack Helicopter, my pointstreak resets back to 0 and (provided I don't die) I can go for the UAV/Predator/Heli again. However, my kills from the Attack Helicopter do not contribute towards those rewards.

Then what's happening at 5:00 in this video from Max?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euexRnBp9_g#t=4m59s

Is that just because he got assists and somehow those count with Hardline Pro?

EDIT: It must. I took a closer look at one of Woody's videos from yesterday and it seems that Hardline Pro must circumvent the stacking-cycle somehow, or something else is going on in that video from Max.

But that's good to know. As long as the stack doesn't cycle, I'm on board. I could see myself loving infinite UAVs/Counter UAVs.

Probably yup. I was mowing people down in an Osprey earlier this morning and I had Hardline on that particular build, but I didn't get another Pred afterwards - you have to be weirdly lucky to get that to happen - hit a guy with the Osprey, not kill him, and have a teammate finish him off.

The Osprey is significantly weaker than the Chopper Gunner from MW2 as well, it shoots slower and it's realllllly vulnerable when it goes to drop its packages off.

The only time an enemy team has managed to get an Escort Gunner onto the map against my team was if the map cover just completely blocked LoS before we could gun it down with Javelins (we don't even have Stingers yet :p). Have yet to see anyone pull an Osprey Gunner on us, but it'd be the same story there.

Shit, people firing off a Strafe Run makes my eyes light up with glee - free +5 pointstreak for my team, woo!

Streak looping just isn't an issue for the heavy hitting Assault stuff. The only difference is the lack of an intentional suicide to restart the streak.

Now, if you want some genuine cheese: Take Hardline and an Assault UAV, nothing else :V UAVs every 2 kills all game, woo! (I could possibly see that getting nerfed. Maybe. You're kind of giving up a perk slot and everything else to get that though.)

You just made me about 100% more interested in buying this game. I hadn't even considered that killing air support would up the pointstreak. That's pretty sweet.

Is anyone else finding the story much easier to follow this time around? I've always found it a little difficult to follow the others until the very end but I've had no trouble at all keeping up with this one. I always know who I am, what I'm doing in a certain spot, and what my objective is. Hell I'd even say the plot downright makes sense so far!

Elite is fucked!

Doesn't work on either PS3 or 360.

I'm very near the end, but yeah, it's nice.

It's very much a 'ok MW2 was crazy, let's dial this back'.

The only part I don't like (minor generic spoilers)
They retconned in a lot of stuff. Not in a 'changing past events way', but in a 'inserting future into past history' way. Common in lots of mediums. Also one of the reason sequel stories are rarely as tight as the original unless the entire story was planned out - and that almost never happens in video games

Minor complaint though, in general it's a fun ride.

I think it's fine, what bothers me with how much money they are making, that they are too cheap to shell out for actual servers for the game. But are willing to charge people for all kinds of extras also which just make more money than full games themselves even, yet you see smaller publishers hosting servers for their games that sell a tiny fraction of the amount of these titles.

I have to say that at the moment i'm finding the campaign quite enjoyable. Considering how bad they were in MW2 and Blops i'm really surprised about that.

Only thing i find really laughable is the sound part. Probably i'm spoiled by bf3.

Indeed although I'm going to blame Activision rather than IW. Doesn't seem like IW has a whole lot of power in that relationship.

The maps, in general, are 'revamped' previous MP maps right?
Well, they are all new (so far). But a lot of them have parts/influences from earlier maps (like Crash and Overgrown). But the map design is still very different imo.

Found a pretty good combo so far. Using the Type 95 with two attachments, the silencer and red dot. Perks are Blind Eye, Assassin Pro and Marksman. I move around a lot but I take it easy I don't sprint much. So far I've been in the top three the last couple of games.

I really hope they fix the health/damage issue. Has anyone from IW said anything about this yet?

I really don't like the maps but at least having the health fixed would make it playable. I feel legitimately disappointed at these maps though, so fucking small and dull. Is this the result of losing all their best people?

edit - Actually when I think about it it's not that they're small, they feel the same size as COD4 maps. It's just that they're so cluttered with bullshit everywhere, walls in your way, cars everywhere. It's like you have to spend 30 sec running to where you want to get (making tons of left/right turns to avoid obstacles) to just to die because someone see's you first. It's so annoying.

I don't see the problem. Clearly all the PC reviews of the game would have mentioned this... Oh wait, that's right. There are no PC reviews of the game.

Seriously, WTF is up with this? I've only found one review, courtesy of Metacritic.

Keep being impressed at how cinematic the campaign is. On par with Uncharted, feels like a playable movie.

It certainly is successful at doing what it needs to do get the blood pumping.

Was in a misson earlier with a Tank and loved how imposing it was as you sat inside with the driver and rocket loader/ spotter. Even more when you exited it. One thing i do wish BF3 did was have tanks like that, large insides that feel very enclosed.

These maps are horrible.
Ugh.

I do agree that they promote some crazy camping. I hope it's just a temporary thing while people are learning the maps though. We tried jumping into a Domination match last night and it was an exercise in futility. I can't remember the map name, as I'm not too familiar yet, but the other team was able to lock us down completely (we were spawning at Flag C). I'm finding it far more difficult to pick people out at a distance than in BLOPS. To be fair, I believe this was the case in MW2 as well.

Played for a couple of hours last night until I got to level 21. At first it was a bit rough not knowing any of the maps or how anything worked, but soon I was putting up some pretty good numbers. Having a lot of fun though there have been quite a few WTF moments where I didn't think I should've lost a gunfight which seemed to be due to lower health.

Support killstreaks are amazing. That system works so well.

You mean like Outpost, Village and Carbon? ;)

I agree though to a certain degree - there's definitely a little too much of an urban focus. A few novelty maps ala Nuketown or Terminal wouldn't have hurt.

Lol. Yeah, you know what I mean though. Even the village map looks brown and grey, whereas "Village" in Black Ops was lush and green. Then you look at something like "Launch," which yeah was industrial, but it was mostly yellow with a blue sky and a massive nuclear rocket blasting off in the middle. I feel like the variety in color and template between the various maps in MW3 is somewhat lacking.

Also, is Elite still messed up for everyone? I'm trying to connect my Elite account to my XBL account but the app thing on the 360 wasn't working last night and the site is messed up today.
