I don't think I played all of the maps last night, but out of the ones that I did play, none seemed very sniper friendly. Are there really any open maps at all?

A few questions for those who are a little further than I:

-Do both Assassin and Blind Eye keep you off radar against UAV? How about Advanced UAV?
-Does Scavenger Pro restock Claymores?
-Has anyone unlocked Range and used it for Shotguns?

Shotguns comment: I see what you guys mean about the shotguns. The range and spread are low. The 2 default shotguns are bad with both. A direct hit with shotgun #3, the Spas, is a 1 hit kill at short range, but 2 or 3 at medium, especially against a horizontally moving target where a full blast direct hit is harder to get, whereas in MW2 the spread was seemingly much wider when turning or hitting a laterally moving midrange opponent. In MW2 you had a better chance of a kill if you wildly spin toward the guy. It has to be much more direct in MW3, and since lag can change from game to game, it's not so easy to predict where you should fire. My playstyle is more defensive, so most of the time I'm not facing guys head on.

Well last night was pretty frustrating mainly cause I suck. The maps were a mixed bag, not many maps for snipers it seems. I'd say 75% of the time I died while getting shot from behind me. That was probably the most frustrating part. I guess that also is partly me not knowing the maps (and that I suck). Half the time I don't even know what I unlocked, it just says new on create a class and then I have to go through and try and find what exactly I unlocked. I liked it more in MW2 when it briefly popped up at the end and said (you unlocked silencer) for example.

There aren't any that you can snipe on. It's terrible, because sniping is my favorite thing to do.

You just made me about 100% more interested in buying this game. I hadn't even considered that killing air support would up the pointstreak. That's pretty sweet.

So does capturing points in DOM.

I started running the specialist class with Hardline last night. You cap the first point and immediately get 200-300xp (can't remember which) plus a new perk. Get two more kills and you get several hundred more. It's a fantastic way to incentivize playing the objectives.

The guns don't feel like the carry the same kind of kick as in BLOPs to me. Just in all, it feels like there is just less "weight" to everything that lets you know when you are firing a weak gun vs a powerful one. Getting shot, shooting other players, it all just kind of feels empty.

Also, kind of confused on how the killstreaks work. I have mine set to assualt, but it keeps giving me the UAV support strike?

Modern Warfare 3 day 1 shipments "largest in history" - And COD Elite "exceeds optimistic expectations".

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-09-modern-warfare-3-day-1-shipments-largest-in-history

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 day-one shipments are the largest for any game ever, Activision has said.

"The record number of pre-orders from Modern Warfare 3 drove the largest day-one shipments in our history, and in the industry's history," said Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg during an earnings call last night (transcript on Seeking Alpha).
Modern Warfare 3 launched worldwide yesterday, but no sales figures have yet been released.

Hirshberg said more than 1.5 million people queued at 13,000 shops at midnight on Monday to buy Modern Warfare 3, "making it the largest retail release in Activision's history and in the industry's history".

Major UK game outlets told Eurogamer earlier this week that Modern Warfare 3 had been their most pre-ordered title ever.

Popularity for Call of Duty has extended to multiplayer social network and stat-tracking application Call of Duty: Elite.

"We've already had an incredible response to Call of Duty: Elite from the moment it went live," said Hirshberg, who has nothing to do with Hershey's.

"Player registration requests for our new live services have exceeded even our most optimistic expectations, which have created some bottlenecks in the registration process.
"We've already registered over 1 million players, and we've been working round-the-clock to increase registration capacity as quickly as possible.

"Keep in mind," he added, "these issues have no impact on players' ability to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3."

Eurogamer's Modern Warfare 3 review awarded 8/10.

"Its exuberant blend of testicular bravado and blockbuster gloss ensures that Call of Duty retains its crown as the shooter genre's biggest, boldest rollercoaster ride for at least one more year," wrote reviewer Dan Whitehead.

I have used the sniper rifle successfully on many of maps in this game. Bakaara, Fallen, Interchange and various other maps to lesser extent can be sniper friendly depending on what game mode you are play.

Your 3 Killstreaks in Blops and MW2 were global.

Your 3 Killstreaks in MW3 are custom class specific. They're different with each loadout. You're probably playing with a different class from the one you setup the Assault Killstreaks.

As a sniper I feel like it's almost pointless since the health is so low. Assault Rifles need to be nerfed big time or health needs to be increased. Assault rifles can aim/shoot as far as sniper rifles and kill people in 2 shots. And sniper rifles take 2 shots to kill also, it's ridiculous and makes rifles pointless. Very annoying. By the time you zoom in your scope (no matter how quick) they already got shots off and you're dead.

Basically the regular modes play like hardcore right now. I actually play hardcore primarily but the good thing about it is there's no radar and handicaps and shit. But playing with hardcore health and radar and all the extra goodies is just heaven for run and gunners. I have no doubt I could dominate this game if I switched to an assault rifle but it would feel cheap to me so I'm sticking with the rifle for some challenge.

But I set them to my custom class and everything else is there, it even says that I'm set to "Assault", only it doesn't give me my assualt kill streaks.

First Impression of MP is that this emperor has no clothes.

My expectations couldn't have been any lower without me buying the game and yet the game doesn't even come close to reaching the rim.

These maps looked idiotic by the top-down maps. I could tell immediately, but playing them is a whole new ballgame. Wow. Just wow. I can't fathom...and the spawning. It's like IW said "Ya know, people call our games mindnumbing and all about 'see first, shoot first', let's dumb the game down to that level. Let's prove the detractors right."

Then there's the netcode. It's not like BLOPS? Are you sure? Are you absolutely positive? Cause the reason why you're dying instantly isn't because the weapons are instant kills, it's cause the lag is shit.

And other than that, it's MW2. Haven't played a game with so much copy and paste since...I can't remember.

Other than that, not a single inspiring thing to the game. Not one.

ok so MW3 shits on all other COD games so far. The game is mad mad fun and addicting. Graphically the best in the series and it runs smooth as fuck. Hit detection is pretty spot on. Kill cam sucks, I did notice that it doesnt playback what really happened very well (typical). i wish there was a option to turn it off. I changed my controls to BF controls, feels perfect for me. Hell i think i did that in all the other COD games anyway. The game feels like COD4 with MW2 & BLOPS streak packages. FACEBOOK friends list is pretty slick (if you haven't done it its free and in the options screen i believe). I did run into a few games last night of 3 bar users causing the game to play like garbage which was frustrating to say the least. Spawning at times can get pretty fucking stupid.

Now onto the maps. Yes they are prolly the smallest in the series in terms of how many small maps are in rotation. Lots of ins and outs, no real line of site choke points for snipers, which is prolly why they kept quick scoping in (ran into QS faggots a few games, FUCK THEM). But the small maps work for the gun on gun gameplay this puts on the table. With its fast pace in your face action all the time this game is gonna be played for years to come.

I had a blast playing the game and i want more. So if a used copy hit my GAMESTOP in a few weeks i think i may just snipe it up. BF3 will still be my main go to game, i just prefer it vs this.

Maybe you made 2 similar classes and you're confusing them? I did that and had to rename them then I didn't have an issue. If that's not it, I'm clueless.

Oh... maybe your Assault loadout is using a few of the shared Killstreaks? Maybe you hit a bug, or I'm missing something but I'd doublecheck.

EDIT:

This topic is moving fast so I'm going to ask again:

I haven't had any lag yet. The instant kills are because of the weapon damage/low health for sure.

Agree that the maps are weak though. It really sucks because this makes me want to get Elite in hopes of better maps in the future, but I don't want to give them more money and then end up getting the same shit later on. You never know what you're gonna get so I don't know what to do and I'll feel like shit if I sell this game so soon after release.

Going through the singleplayer campiagn and constantly thinking "why do they even bother?"

I mean does anyone really get attached to the characters and story in CoD games?

Someone needs to do a comparison video of the bullet damage of MW2 and MW3. I don't think I fully agree the the damage is too high. Also considering I have been actively playing MW2 up until the release of MW3, I can hardly tell a difference in how fast people drop. For some reason, I believe the UMP/SCAR actually dropped people faster in MW2 than this game.

Is my memory shot or what?

Yes.

Also, I don't understand why MP obsessed gamers who's only satisfaction is to shoot other people in the face, in what is a sort of sport, do even bother with talking about sp. Because people like me mostly don't spend time throwing you shit for what you like.

With Stopping Power, Scar and Tar were 2/3 shot kills depending on range and lag. All weapons now feel like they have SP equipped. This is perfect for me but many prefer Blops extra required hits.

I wouldn't say i care about the story but the campaign is usually good enough fun that i can turn my brain off for while i play. MW3 is just so boring though, Its pretty bad.

I truly do want some closure on what happens to Soap and Price. So yes, people do care.

I'm going to be so sad when everyone online has experience with these and doesn't get fooled nearly as easily.

Beat it on hardcore, probably the best storyline since MW1.

It's typical chest pumping fare, but man it's enjoyable. Especially the
whole sub mission

MP is fast and furious and a lot of fun. Kill Confirmed has replaced TDM for me. The new guns are great. Now I just need to get a handle on map layouts better.

Hopefully, the website catches up so I can get back in my profile.

Cod4 was pretty great.

Ill agree, CoD4 was pretty interesting and the story did have an impact at some level, especialy the nuke scene...but all CoD games after that have just been meh or tried to hard to be badass.

I thought W@W had a fantastic campaign as well, although I know I'm probably in the minority with that opinion. It felt like CoD4 set during WW2 and the formula wasn't stale to me yet. Just thinking about the mission variety and some of the levels makes me want to go back and play it again. Not on veteran though... my goodness that game was brutal on veteran. "Grenade tossing simulator" is appropriate.

I thought the story in Black Ops was pretty good too. The story in MW2 was stupid but it did set up this game which has a much better campaign.
