Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 |OT| Got 99 Problems, But Sales Ain't One.

Yeah. Health is low. But Im used to it as I usually play hardcore anyway. Tons of things bugged me about the game.

The good:

- Only played like one laggy match

- Progression feels even better than before.

- Weapons feel nicer and sound better.

- I LOVE the support package.

- Weapon perks are amazing

- More rankings, and prestige points.

- 1887 is back!

The bad:

- In hardcore TDM you can't see your opponents score

- In hardcore TDM you can't see the time (in blops and mw2 you could when its counting down, you can't even for the last 30 seconds of the match)

- No diving (I know but CMON!)

- No Gun Game, or One in the Chamber online

- No special weapons like the crossbow or ballistic knife

- Stages look better, but the overall layout is lacking imagination and flow like they had in mw2.

- Hardly any stages that are long ranged and open like Overgrown, Afghan, Derail, Estate, Quarry, Wasteland - heck, alot of the stages from mw2 had open designs. There is maybe one stage out of 16 like these in Mw3. Its really annoying.

- Along with the above point, every stage feels like close/mid ranged corridor combat. You literally have to turn about 50 times while making your way across a stage.

- This lacks the imaginative side of Treyarch. (i.e, diving, special weapons, zombies, Wager Matches, etc)

How many of you are NOT Prestiging?
I always prestige, but prestiging means that I "finish" the MP for me. I play like crazy to get to max level while messing around with all the guns, perks, equipement, etc. Then, I prestige asap, and move on to another game. I just don't have the heart to restart from level 1 and if I don't prestige and don't level up, I feel like I'm playing for nothing.

Does anyone have that YouTube video that was posted a couple days ago with the overpowered pp90 setup with hardline and steady aim? Thank you :}

I prestiged for my first time in Black Ops and immediately stopped playing it. Fuck getting pro perks and weapons all over again.
Yeah. That was a pain in Blops. But getting pro perks is way easier in this one.

After one day of playing I got pro perks for almost ever perk that I used.

Hardline (so awesome)

Stalker (again, amazing)

sleight of hand

Quick Draw

This game confirms it. I get Treyarch games. IW games, on the other hand, are horrible to me.

Say what you will about Treyarch, but they nail the three important factors for me: maps, class, and community. This game is a the metaphorical equivalent of a directionless prom girl with zero brains.
I think what you're not realizing is that this game is more Treyarch than IW. Or at least IW before the talent left.

This game is worse than the Treyarch CODs in many ways, but that's not saying much.

I don't remember, but did patches ever come down in any of the past few CoD games to reduce lag and sync issues? It's ruining the game completely.

Anyone got any tips for getting the "Nein" trophy? It's the only campaign one I'm missing and have been failing for nearly half an hour now

Rented it from redbox, have only played a little of the Campaign. 60 frames per second does add a nice look to the game and it seems to run very smooth so far. The sound effects however, are terrible. The guns sound weak and the overall sound of the game is mixed lower than I prefer. The shotgun I used sounded pathetic. The way the gun moves side-to-side while sprinting looks goofy as hell and actually made me laugh. Well, it definitely feels same old, with the silly tap the LT for the lock-on still intact. Will at least try to beat the Campaign before I take it back and will play a few rounds of multi.

Oh, and not letting me turn the music off is stupid. Hate games that don't allow that.

I thought treyarch had nothing to do with this iteration...

I can't see them working on this game and nixing the awesome stuff they had in blops. Doesnt make sense.

We have now fixed the registration and login systems, but we have found that the greater than expected demand is crashing servers. We’re immediately deploying multiple additional servers to beef up the system. We are also going to temporarily limit access to Elite services on both the console applications and website while we build additional capacity and scale. We’ll look to increase access to greater numbers of users as soon as possible.

...

And for our premium members who are Founders, know that granting your status and delivering your in-game benefits in MW3 is a priority. Also, to ensure that every premium member receives their full money’s worth, we are immediately and automatically extending your membership to Call of Duty Elite by 30 days at no additional cost. If you’re still considering becoming a premium member, we’re going to extend Founder eligibility until the end of the month, and you will also receive the additional 30 days of access.

Man, I'm enjoying the MP, but camo works crazy well in this game. lol. There have been a few times where I couldn't see anything looking like a human being until it was to late.

Sniping in this game takes a lot of getting use to. Most of the maps I've played on (haven't seen them all), seem more mid/close range, and doesn't allow as much freedom to snipe -sad face-. I haven't even run into to many snipers yet. Just a handful. Every room has like 3 entry points. lol

I dunno how I feel about the maps yet.

I miss the fun modes in Black-Ops. Spec-Ops > Zombie mode, but Gun game and the arcade mini-game were so fun to play.

Same here. Feels perfect to me.

Regardless of what people say, there are still plenty of times where I escape gunfire. Feels about how I'd expect for a COD game.

so, is it safe to say that this is one of the worst recieved, modern CoD games by the fans? or at least, that is the most decisive?

EDIT 1: i'm an on the fence fan that hasnt bought a CoD game since MW2 and *may* be looking to get into the fold, but don't want a game that is worse than MW1 or even 2.

Switched over to a new build last night and saw much better results on FFA and TDM. Was able to get Escort Airdrop almost every game I played. Here is one of the captures of an FFA game on Hotel. I got confused on the airdrop and was trying to capture the booby trap crate. lol

Ump45+Silencer (Focus)
Skorpion
Bouncing Bettie & EMP Nade
Scavenger
Assasin Pro
Steady Aim
AUAV
Stealth Bomber
Escort Airdrop

The combination of Silencer and Assasin Pro is godlike

I hate zombies, I prefer the spec ops modes, even the horde mode over zombies.

So far, (yeah it's still early) but I'm very fond of MW3. It's got me as happy as I was with MW2 before the javelin glitch, speed hacking and inevitably the OMA abuse.

I hope it stays that way. I think it will since they want this game/franchise to be on MLG, and with elite/theater they can be more active in the community both in balance and enforcing bans on cheaters.

People keep coming in saying this, I think a lot of people in here are trolling to be honest. I think this game is better than both Treyarch iterations and is the best COD since MW1. (SP and MP)

Yeah. Gone are the days of: Laydown a claymore or two>Feel Safe>Shoot from window. It's kind of lame. I would have blamed Treyarch because they did that in Blops, but then I remembered the mw2 did that with their map packs.

And there isnt a classically tiny map like rust or nuketown! WTF IW?!

What's the point of kill confirmed if you don't have to pick the dog tag to get the kill? Nobody seems to pick them up and it still causes campers. You only get points for picking them up.

yeah, and that may be enough to ruin it completely for me. again, will try to get some actual game time to see how i like them.

on the plus side, there will be loads of DLC maps :p

The map issues went away for me after 8 hours of play. I'm somewhat familiar with the layouts and once I know them well it will be even easier. The problem I'm having is the awful starting perks and weapons. People who got it early or will double xp and are in teams are obliterating me.

I had a free for all rhythm with MW2 where I could be back up to claymore level in 6 hours. Not possible here with the lower health and G95s. I'm doing okay with the L86 kick/silencer but with all the entrances I can't hole up and get a streak.

Prestiging is going to drive me nuts like it did with Black Ops. Black Ops was crap for a different reason, Pro Perk challenges. But this is worse. Assassin and G95 and start at level 30 and the weapon attachments take about 10 games of abuse to get anything useful and you're still heavily disadvantaged to higher level weapons.

MW2 started you off with the beastly FAMAS and UMP and the Scar and Tar weren't far off. Black Ops gave you 74u and a bunch of others until FAMAS. on 20 and up.

Uh, the reaction by people who own the game is leaning towards disappointment rather than praise, it seems.

I picked my copy up at midnight (haven't done that for a game since Halo 3). I came home and immediately found issues that I knew weren't a result of unfamiliarity. The maps are bad. Real bad. The lag is bad. Real bad. The weapon damage is too high, given the lag. These things all make for frustrating experience, both for long time fans of the series and newcomers.

They need to patch the game to fix some of the lag. It's horrible right now. You empty half a clip into a guy and he doesn't die, turns and shoots once and you go down. The kill cam shows you never fired a shot. How is the game THAT MUCH out of sync?

They need to release some bigger maps. Not only do they need to be bigger, you need to have maps where you have some decent sight lines. You can't see more than 20 feet in front of you in most cases. Any cover has like 5 access points to it too, so you can never creep along and be cautious. Bad map design.

The weapon damage needs to be addressed, but maybe it won't be such a big deal if they get a handle on the lag.

I see you were confused with your care package death trap. Not knowing that cost you an easy kill and a few deaths. Otherwise great match.

It's the worst CoD game ever made. Maps feel disjointed, are small, and are basically rehashes of earlier maps - Fallen is like the aborted remains of Outskirts, etc. The guns all have odd, seemingly random stats and basically have Stopping Power turned on permanently. Graphically the engine is really showing its age.

MW2 might have been a mess balance-wise but at least the fundamental gameplay was good. This is just pure shit.

I have no idea what the general consensus is, but I for one am enjoying this game far more than Black Ops.

Map size doesn't bother me, the lack of cover like you say is what I don't like. Some maps are wonderful though, like Downturn and that French map.

Woah, now. Call of Duty 3 still reigns supreme as the worst ever. And World at War is definitely pretty rough.

Another thing I don't like about the maps is often one team starts with high ground advantage. They messed up by not making high ground something to fight for and claim. A few maps just let one team start up high and sit back and make the other side brute force their way up.

I don't know the names of the maps but some of them are really great, like the one with the downed helicopter, and some others I forget. But I keep saying what Jeff said, it's literally absolute dumb luck on most maps if you get killed because there are too many places to cover, just have to go out there and hope for the best. Might be fine to stay in the perimeter for TDM but for objective based modes you can't really do that.

I'm still enjoying it though, I've accepted the fact that IW simply doesn't understand how to design maps. The rest is good though for the most part. Also anyone know what game mode gives the most exp? I want to rush it to my first prestige already so I can use them tokens.

Yeah. The maps aren't that great. They didn't really design them that well. Out of 16 maps almost every single one feels the same.
