Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 |OT| Got 99 Problems, But Sales Ain't One.

The lag in this game is incredible. I swear it's worse than Black Ops, which alone is enough to make this the most disappointing CoD ever for me. I'm pretty convinced that they took the BO netcode and merged it with the MW2 engine, and I'm hoping it's possible for them to patch the MW2 netcode back in. That's not going to happen though. :(

Also, would be cool if they patched the Demolition spawns in a few maps. There's a couple maps where the spawning just makes no god damn sense whatsoever. Why would they have a spawn point that's behind us when we're trying to plant?!

Ranks mean jack shit, I don't get why people care about this? There's plenty of great/terrible players at every "level". they give you great weapons from the outset, so the whole "they have better guns!" argument is moot.
That's true, but it's not like he's completely without a point. In the first week like this, a level 70 player is going to be a hell of a lot better at navigating the maps than a level 10.

How about the fact they have superior perks you dont, can evade you better using them, and even using the EXACT same guns have higher stats from using them for a while.

Those are all valid points, you will be at a disadvantage, but it isn't a massive one honestly. Considering how fast you rank up, it won't take long to get up in rank. I've put in about 8 hours into MP and I'm at like rank 50.

I'm beginning to see a pattern.

Most of the people complaining (especially about lag) seem to be on the PS3.

I wonder if that's indicative of something.

I'm on the 360 and haven't experienced a bad game yet. (lag wise)

Yes that's true-I'm on PS3.

After playing the game several hours more, my opinion has only been confirmed more. :(
I don't find it anywhere as fun as CoD4 & MW2.

The maps are very bad (which is pretty important). It's just boring in my opinion.. Such a shame.

I have to say the game is way more balanced. Kill confirmed is a great mode as well. I probably like the game less because of the maps and I have grown tired of CoD multiplayer.

I'll probably keep playing the game with friends though.

Really digging the Battlefield 3 multiplayer way more right now.

Hope my opinion will change still... And I'm looking forward playing campaign and Spec-Ops this weekend!

Does anyone know anything about the Dead Man's Hand deathstreak? It's very rare so far, and I only had the chance to try it a few times myself... But I think it's going to be a problem. I swear it felt like I killed the guy who killed me, no matter how far he ran off, whenever I used it. It's like the evil devil child of Last Stand and Martyrdom... Really hope I'm wrong about how it works!

Any disadvantage is still a disadvantage

Oh, and I did my first real sniping tonight using the L118A... Wow, it's easy. It even feels easier than MW2 - there's something about the scoping animation, which is more similar to CoD4's than the other games, that just makes it feel so easy, fast and accurate.

Crazy part is that you don't even need to do these superfast YouTube-style quickscopes to be successful, you can get by fine by missing your scope-in, adjusting by several inches and then firing and even at close range. Everything about sniping is so fast!

I'm usually a supporter of sniping but this is pretty nuts.

After some investigation in Theater Mode it's quite clear enemies are spawning very closely behind my team for no apparent reason in TDM. The same thing happened in Blops but I believe they fixed it.
I'd really like to know if this is a design decision by IW (to stop spawn trapping) or some kind of bug.
If it's not going to be fixed I won't be playing the game for very long, it's too stressful being shot in the arse all the time. I may have to go back to CoD4 or MW2 where this did not happen.
It totally ruins the multiplayer for me :(

Four missions into the campaign and I'm already feeling the IW magic.

COD is really just a combination of great controls and great level design - the most basic elements of good video games. The reason why it's good is really no different from Mario.

Is there a way to view Theater mode right on your system? I can't find a link anywhere on the MW3 official page yet BLOPS still has one... Or is it on the elite website, of which I can't even connect to :(

Fucking finally took me at least 4-5 hours of grinding. By the end I was so sick I could barely keep on playing.

I'm digging the game but I feel the burn out factor is going to kick in again. I think I'm going to take a break and see what changes are made in the first/next patch. If the reception turns out positive, I think I'll jump back in.

I keep saying it every year a COD game comes out, but after playing COD4 for so long (and having every new game not changing much in its core mechanics) I burn out so fast these days. There are too many new and exciting games coming out for me to spend time playing the same thing I've been playing for nearly a half-decade.

and by the end of the week, everyone will have either prestiged or just decided not to prestige and none of that will matter.

Secondapps isn't letting me type more without cutting off the bottom, but if anyone has some good loadouts for levels 1-30 I'd appreciate it.
M4
FMG
Sleight of Hand
Quickdraw
Stalker

Support: UAV->CUAV(you can add another if you want but just these two work wonders)

I'm still enjoying it though, I've accepted the fact that IW simply doesn't understand how to design maps. The rest is good though for the most part. Also anyone know what game mode gives the most exp? I want to rush it to my first prestige already so I can use them tokens.
Team Defender gives some good points if you can keep the flag long enough. Specialist+Hardline is supposed to give a lot of points, too.

No lag whatsoever on PS3 for me. Same with Black Ops. I only had hit detection problems on the PS3 with it, not lag. You all must be fortune's fool.

Two entire classes of weapons are virtually useless. That's balance?

I'd love to live in that fantasy world.

Maybe if you only enjoy SMGs and Assault Rifles sure but thats a boring life

NM you're probably talking about Killstreaks and Perks and equal levels

Apparently it's been bad all day. My friend was saying that earlier the she would get disconnected constantly and lose all stats gained in those particular games. She should be 10 levels higher than what she currently is :/

Sigh.

There is nothing fun about trying to play a shooter with a sky full of shit raining down on you.

Seriously, one helicopter in the air at a time, per team, que up the rest and alert players when it's their turn. This shit isn't hard.

Glad Sledgehammer Games gets to cash in their cheques for working on this, but damn did they ever turn in a half-assed, coasting-on-the-brand effort as far as actual design.

I rarely see stuff up in the air when I'm playing and if I do its taken down quickly by the SAM turrets. It is almost annoying how quickly stuff gets taken down in this game.

Question: Why is no one calling MW3 racist when it features three white men tearing an African shanty town to pieces?

(If you don't get what I am implying, look at my avatar)

I still wish they'd carried over Treyarch's decision not to have killstreaks stack on killstreaks.

Question: Why have no journos come out and called Modern Warfare 3 uncomfortably racist? It features three white guys tearing an African shanty town to pieces and slaughtering hundreds of unfavorable representations of its militia(including executions).

(See my avatar if you don't get what I am pointing out.)

Btw, mildly enjoying the campaign so far. Its war-torn cities might be my favorite in a videogame. So far it is has been much easier than MW2 and WaW, on Veteran. (Got bored with BO, so don't know.)

EDIT: I MISS THIRD PERSON MODE. BRING IT BACK.

It's been like that since launch. Not sure what the problem is or when they plan on fixing it. I'm sure they're more focused on getting their Elite service up and running though.

I played for three hours last night by myself and I really can't take the lack of teamwork. Everyone wants to be fucking Rambo it seems. I know it's nothing new to the series, but having been out of the loop for about 18 months, it's just shocking how no one is wearing a mic or even attempting to work together.

Are you aware there is a starter perk that makes you invisible to air support?

Plays more like MW2 than BLOPS, which is fine since I preferred the former overall. ARs thus far though seem to have very low recoil. Also, people definitely die faster than previous iterations. Someone from behind will kill you for sure with no chance of retaliation unless you're very far away or they have terrible aim.

Does not compute. The militia was taking bribes from Makarov to move weaponry, IIRC, so what exactly is pure and pristine about these militia men, exactly?

That section was so bad. By the time I was on the stationary technical's LMG turret shooting dudes, I literally said to myself, "This shit isn't fun. I hope this section is over fast."

Actually, that was a mistake. My browser closed on me and I assumed the post didn't make it through. Somehow didn't see my post at the bottom of the page, I guess the thread is moving too fast.

I am talking more about imagery. (Mowing down hundreds of dudes and destroying the houses with a machine gun turret stood out more than anything I can recall in RE5. That is CoD for you lol.)

I really hated the mortar part. This game has too many stationary movements.

EDIT Is the
LOOK AT THE BIRDS, DADDY!
suppose to be the shocking mission of MW3? Kind of disappointed if it is, people said it would be worse than MW2.

So, playing on PC...

This is without a doubt the worst CoD I've played, if not one of the worst shooters I've played. Claustrophobic maps, awful weapon balancing, nausea-inducing FoV... I don't think there's anything I enjoy about it at all.

Ive never started a Call of Duty multiplayer experience as badly as this one. I cant buy a bucket. Take it slow, get ran over. Take it fast, get jacked by campers. Somewhere in the middle, get 2 kills, 5 assist, 10 deaths - bullets taken 12, bullets given 50+.

There's fun here, but I would like to see the month or two worth of days spent developing my mediocre skillset in MW1, W@W, MW2, and BLOPS come into play eventually. lol

I really don't have any huge problems with the gameplay, but the big thing that is killing this game for me is the poor quality of the maps. All of the maps just seem to be a system of tight corridors with a small bit of open space. it seems like there's barely any variety among the maps.

They turned CoD into a corridor shooter.

Take it slow seems like the way to go for me. Started off with the running and gunning style I liked in BLOPs but just kept getting murdered. Now I'm taking it slow and getting KDRs of 1.5 to 2.

Well this seems to be the main complaint.

I'm going out & buying this game now & see if it really is so.

What does it matter though? You destroy houses in suburban America in MW2, shoot what seems like thousands of (white and/or) Russian dudes over the course of the entire MW trilogy, and so forth. Are you taking issue simply because these are black men this time around?
