Anyway will re-quote my changed opinion I had yesterday for anyone who wants more impressions (I was raging/whining a lot the past few days about the damage/health and the maps).

k so after my raging/bitching/whining in this thread over and over I've had a slight change of heart, (very slight right now).

I unlocked Hardcore S & D finally and have been playing that for the last 3 hours. It is way way way better than normal. I always played Hardcore in previous games but this one is so much better without the handicaps. I've been doing really well (1st/2nd place) with my sniper/pistol combo. I did have 1 or 2 terrible matches though. In normal S & D I kept raging at the damage because my rifle would sometimes take 2 shots to kill meanwhile everyone else's machine gun took the same amount. And pistols took 4-5 shots to kill someone but in Hardcore it's only 2-3. It feels much more fair now.

At least in hardcore I don't feel cheapened out when I die. If someone catches me it was because of my lack of awareness of my surroundings/not being careful. At least I have that on my conscience and not the stupid awful damage/kill instantly shit in the normal modes no matter what you do.

I played about 7-8 different maps I think so far (in hardcore SnD) and I'm beginning to know the routes people take which is making sniping easier. These maps are garbage compared to COD4 no doubt about it, but they're becoming tolerable. I don't want to shit on my luck though maybe I only had a few good games so knock on wood, hopefully the good, fair matches continue.

As of today I feel much better about the game, even though I can't say I like the maps. They're ...playable in Hardcore SnD for me. The other modes it was abysmal for reasons mentioned before. But now it feels much more balanced for snipers (and shotgunners I'm assuming).

Now I'm very interested in getting Elite for the DLC. Gonna wait and see what the first pack is though, if the COD4 map pack is included free with Elite then I'll get it for sure.

I really wish you could upload full theater matches to youtube. I've been doing so well in a lot of matches I want to show off =P I don't have any external thing to record the videos -_-

I'm only getting connected to games north of 150ping. Don't get what's going on as with MW2 I would get connected to 50-75ping matches (which are perfect). I think the range of my Airport Extreme is just not cutting it, I ordered a range extender, I hope that helps.

Umm, Sleight of hand, quick draw and stalker. Stalker isnt for everyone since its sensitive to aiming while moving. But I got a lot better when I started with that class.

Actually I think you might have solved a problem I was having. Every time I'm shooting at someone who's at a distance I could never aim properly. I'm starting to think it's because I've had stalker as a perk. I'm going to try your setup. Thanks

i tried playing the single player last night and lasted about 5 minutes. Just don't find it interesting at all. Hate how scripted it is. I swear if you run too far ahead of the script and try to kill guys, it feels like the game won't let you.

Kills are king. You get points for all kills, but you get double points for kills whilst your team holds the flag. So a bad team can hold the flag all day and still lose if they don't get many kills.

I found it's better to use hardline then use the specialist strike package. Set up scavenger as the second perk, with hardline that means that it will take 3 kills for scavenger to kick in, you should be needing ammo at that point. You could also set it up as the last perk in the set, so 5 kills in, scavenger starts. Works really well.

I can't tell if it's the spawn system that's broken or the ridiculously open map design, but this game is very different from CoD4 / MW2. To the point where it isn't fun anymore for me.

In CoD4 / MW2 I would spawn with my back against a safe side of the map and work my way towards the enemy side trying to get kills.
On MW3 I'm spawning then getting shot in the back two seconds later, or even spawning into bullets.
Either something is majorly broken or this is the 'new' IW's idea of ending any kind of map control, either way it's not fun.
As a CoD player since the 1st game, I am very disappointed with MW3's multiplayer

They can't release those old maps soon enough IMHO.

5 kills might be a bit too late imo
well depends on how much you spray but shit still goes through ammo like crazy
although the pro effect of getting scavenger is useless, I thought you'd get the bonus ammo once you hit 3 kills, but nope

Use the the perk strike package with scavenger and you're set! Destroys ammo though.

Steady Aim Pro

Then the Specialist package has Extreme Conditioning Pro (you need sprint goodness before ammo at this point) -> Scavenger Pro (mmm, ammo) -> Blast Shield Pro (not even explosives can kill me).

I should probably put in Assassin Pro in place of Blast Shield... What do you guys think?

I use Sleight of Hand, Hardline & Steady Aim, with 2-4-6 being Assassin, Blind Eye and Extreme Conditioning. It looks like I'm one level away from unlocking Scavenger, so I might have to readjust my perks. Specialist is a really fun package.
