Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 |OT| Got 99 Problems, But Sales Ain't One.

I have it set up as:

Sleight of Hand Pro

Hardline Pro

Steady Aim Pro

Then the Specialist package has Extreme Conditioning Pro (you need sprint goodness before ammo at this point) -> Scavenger Pro (mmm, ammo) -> Blast Shield Pro (not even explosives can kill me).

I should probably put in Assassin Pro in place of Blast Shield... What do you guys think?

You should swap Sleight of Hand and Extreme Conditioning around. You don't need quick reload right from the off. Kill someone, you need to reload, Sleight of Hand unlocks.

Who here uses predator missile/attack helicopter/pavelow for their assault killstreaks? I think this combo works great.

Truth. Will do that, thanks.

I'm not digging the effect the Support Strike Package is having on games. I haven't played much but every match is flooded with UAVs.

If there's one thing I can pin down as to why I'm enjoying MW3 so much is that its renewed my love for SMGs. SMGs feel so much more viable in MW3 than it was in BLOPS and MW2.
I really on SMG more than anything now. In the previous games I would stick to just using assault rifles.

Wouldn't a well placed SAM be a good counter?

You better have scavenger set cause that thing eats through ammo.

I found it's better to use hardline then use the specialist strike package. Set up scavenger as the second perk, with hardline that means that it will take 3 kills for scavenger to kick in, you should be needing ammo at that point. You could also set it up as the last perk in the set, so 5 kills in, scavenger starts. Works really well.

Not really a problem for me as I like to play with the support strike package. 5-6 kills before running out of ammo is a decent compromise, plus I have steady aim and a machine pistol as my secondary so I don't need to change my play style much when I run out of ammo.

Wonder if the PM-9 is as good as the PP90.

I use UAV, SAM turret, adnavced UAV lol. Sam turrets are a must IMO, I'm glad they made them more useful.

Glad I didn't waste 50 dollar signing up for Elite at this juncture. Site works fine on my PS3 but on my PC nothing. Keeps promising double XP but I click on the link only to a dead page. I was in the beta too. I'm surprised they still haven't fixed it.

Wondering about the XP progress, does each level require a certain amount more XP than the previous? What's a decent XP per match?

not up yet for us PC peasants iirc, they said it will come latter
if it will at all...
edit: oh you mean it works on the PS3, not for the ps3 version
my bad, get it now

In game chat is amazing. I just heard a guy call someone the "N" word, and he responded by saying " Shut the fuck up whiteboy, that's why white people like mashed potatoes!" Guy started calling him potatoehead afterwards

lol, I don't get it.

You're looking for at least 7k per match. Right now I'm getting 18-22k XP thanks to Specialist strike package and the challenges.

P90 sucks in comparison to the PP90.

My whole setup is based around avoiding and destroying air support and with the way these maps are layed out holding a position long enough for these SAM turrets (which are pretty weak compared to BLOPS) to work is difficult. Not to mention that these maps have so much shit hanging over your head that good spots are few and far between.

If anything it's a decent deathmatch map.

no, its not, no. It's Rust with a new skin, i'm going to just back out of w/e lobby i get in with that map as the pick for the next game, such a bad map.

Unacceptable lag.

Borderline unplayable.

When the visuals on-screen are literally LYING to you, you cannot hope to succeed.

I am TIRED of pouring ammo into a guy for a full 2 seconds, only for him to turn around and shoot me with one burst... then look at the camera, and according to him, he turned around before I even got a shot off.

With 4 bars and a 100/10 connection.

The people responsible for the netcode in this game should be forced to suck on the prolapsed anus of an 80 year old obese woman after a steam-bath.
LOL! Dude I love you lol. I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm pouring shots right in mofo's faces and they start to shoot and Im the one who bites the dust. F U!

I missed his post, but a lot of his points are true. I'm hoping for some sort of patch or update to fix this shit.

Specialist is so fun in FFA. I'm running extreme conditioning/hardline/steady aim w/ quickdraw, assassin, scavenger as my 3 unlocks. I'll run out of ammo right as I hit scavenger almost every time and usually I can pull 3 kills if someone has a UAV up.

It's pissing me and my team off too. We keep being matched up with the same camping asshats over and over and over. I guess we get the "best" ping (questionable though) against them, but it's getting really tiresome. Even if they didn't play dirty, it takes away from the fun randomness of online gaming...

I want MW2's netcode, all of it, back so bad! :(
Had a run in with a bunch like that today. Maybe it was the same mofo's. Dude had the nerve to tell me that's how it has been done since Modern Warfare. I said that's not the way you play a game moron. Who buys a f'ing game for $59.99 plus tax to sit in a f'ing corner the whole match. Rest of his team chimed in talking shit. I said pick one of your punk friends and hit me up now for a one and one. Yup they kept bitching and wouldn't accept my request. Punk a$$ mofo's.

Haha, oh wow. I'm between 1 and 2K, and usually the best in match is 3K.... How on earth would you get to 7K - does the specialist ad XP?

Well Specialist isn't necessary. I was getting 15k XP with Support package. Just spam Ground War!

Rented this yesterday and banged it out in two sessions on Veteran. Story was braindead, but entertaining and gameplay was decent. No denying the production values they put into the series these days. Was fun picking out the voice actors in particular.

Glad I rented it though - no interest in multi and I'm largely jaded with the SP campaigns of the series at this point. Only so many times you can get excited about slo-mo breaching and blurry "I'm hurt because a bomb blew up in my face" sequences.

Well on elite if you can get it working on your console or pc it gives you a time estimator to whatever level you put in it.

I still cant register my founder's code on the CallofDuty.com website. Anyone else having this problem? Would appreciate any feedback. Cheers!

I'm not a member of the premium elite, but it keeps getting stuck on a page saying it was entering my info into elite with some spinning wheel below the text. Keeps timing out saying an error occurred.

If you run hardline you get an unlock at 1 kill. I think it's like 600 points so every time you die and get a kill you get 600 points. On top of that every perk you unlock has challenges for XP so eventually you'll hit those milestones and get a bunch of xp. I'm not sure if the 2nd and 3rd unlocks are both 600 points, they might be more. I saw a +5000 flash up once but I 'm not sure what that was for.

Ahhh! Worked it out. The code is useless as I am already a premium member cause I entered my Elite code in on the 360. Doh!

I read this on the COD forums and thought it might be useful to someone else in my situation:

"if you already signed up for premium, you do not need to use your founder code. its just a cool looking card. only the people who purchased hardened, but didnt get a chance to activate it till after the 13th need to use the code"

Ok so my brother just got a patch on the 360 and now I cant join his games? My friend and I still haven't gotten a patch for the game yet. Any clue on whats going on?

I was playing a game and EVERYONE in the room was running specialist. NOT 1 fucking killstreak happened the whole 3-4 matches we had.

This is great, I HATE killstreaks, if they disappeared from the game I wouldn't miss them. I just want to have to some fun shootouts, not worrying about shit in the air trying to kill me. I hope everyone figures out how great specialist class is and doesn't touch offensive killstreaks again.

Ha! So I tried this and got one of these 5k things rightaway, taking me up to 7k. so actually XP and Match bonus are peanuts compared to challenges

What the hell? Me and my friend were in a party and I got booted from Live. Then I was prompted to download an update. When I got back on we couldn't invite each other and it kept saying game session was full even though we weren't in a match. Plus my friend didn't get a prompt for an update. It appears both are version numbers are different too. Anyone else get a prompted for an update?

Just got Akimbo Skorpions. I am so my favorite gun has made a return, and having two of them is awesome.

I still wish there was more variety in the maps. All the maps seem to be focused on close quarter combat. I don't usually snipe, but I do enjoy using an M16 in long range situations, but I feel like there aren't many opportunities to do that. Also, all of the maps seem to urban to me. I wish there were some more natural environments.

Went on for a few hours of multiplayer TDM, this is the worst COD online I've ever played, and I've played the last 5 online quite a bit. Horrible maps, the random spawns right behind you are unbelievable. I'm selling it, I got my hours out of the single player, but I refuse to play this shiny turd online when I can play Gears 3. Hell, I'll probably buy Battlefield 3 even though I hated the demo. This is horrible horrible horrible online gameplay. Way to kill this one Activision.

I'm inclined to agree. I dig the support killstreaks as well though because in previous MW games my scrub friends hardly ever got to call in killstreaks but now they can contribute with UAV's, vest's and other stuff.

Hell my friend called in a EMP and he sounded like he just got the MOAB.

I agreed and disagree.

On one hand, they're kind of a defining feature of the multiplayer.

On the other-hand, the totally undercut the notion of player skill deciding the outcome.

Yes, you earn a killstreak by playing well. And then what? If your chopper guns down 10 people, how the hell did you have anything to do with that? And those kills that go into your next kill streak, you didn't earn them, some AI script did the work for you.

Just finished the campaign.

Ho... ly... Crap.

Infinity Ward really are the masters of creating a ridiculously immersive and bombastic single player campaign. I don't think there's a developer on this planet that can make me cringe at the ridiculous set pieces and special effects they utilize. I played Uncharted 3 and sort of shrugged at some of the special effects they use to "shock" you, but damn if I didn't try to shield myself when I saw some of the things that this game throws at you.

And the story is told, and wrapped up, very well. I've been with COD since the beginning (Call of Duty 1 on the PC was so awesome at the time), so I have a strong connection to Price, and this game makes me love him and his bad-assness even more. Some of the twists and turns as the story went on seriously effected some emotion out of me. Not many games can do that.

Overall very satisfied with this game, as I'm one of those weirdos who plays Call of Duty games for the campaign (well, the Infinity Ward ones at least. Treyarch's campaigns are dog shit in comparison, although I love Blops' multiplayer). Going to play through again on easy to pick up all the intel, then do my obligatory COD Veteran run, which I've done on every IW developed COD since COD2. I'm disappointed that the IW campaigns get shorter with every game (4:40 clocked this go around), but honestly I think they kept it succinct and powerful, and that's the way I love my single player campaigns.

I was ever so slightly disappointed at the final "boss fight" though. I thought MW2 did it better. Flinging a knife into Shepherd's eye was just so much cathartic than what happened here with Makarov.

Also Bak3ray sorry I didn't accept your game invite, I was knee deep in some serious shit in Act III at the time, so couldn't tear myself away lol.
