Someone said that the hip fire reticle never shrinks when you stop moving now. I'm not sure if it used to shrink on an older version but that is a piss poor "nerf" if that's what they did

There was a hotfix on Thursday/Friday, so maybe that's what it was. I've still been getting annihilated by everyone using the things, though, so I sincerely hope that wasn't the re-balance.

I think what needs to happen to "balance" them:
  • No more melee or knifing should be droptime+knife+raisetime for initiation/recovery
  • Reload should be 1 weapon at a time. Reloading both should take twice as long
  • Spread needs to be increased. Having two right now means double dps with same hipfire spread which is completely dumb. Either that or there needs to be an arbitrary drop in damage which I think is the worse of the two

That is awesome but I couldn't help but feel really bad for the jugg. He worked so hard to get that streak, and then he lumbers out feeling all invincible with an lmg and then you go and peck him to death.

Haha, yeah I also took a look at his recent matches and the dude has a tons of games with max 1-5 kills. Definitely something fishy going on.. the dude must dashboard a lot if things are not going his way.
Not only that, but his other gameplays are not very impressive. That one I responded to earlier had him moving around intelligently and beasting everyone he saw, but most others have him camping hardcore. Not sitting in a corner but he basically never leaves the house he spawns in. It's hilarious when he's bragging on and on about how much of a crazy rusher he is, while he's in his third full minute of staying in the same house in the video. He seems to think that "rushing" consists of running back and forth between windows and changing weapons back and forth constantly for no reason. :lol

I've made the decision to prestige and then never touch it again. Lag compensation? FUCK YOU IW. FUCK YOU. I've never raged more than I have in this game. Total bullshit.

Yeah it's pretty dumb but they've openly talked about working on it so I'm somewhat hopeful. I'm pretty much holding off on ELITE because of it; If they fix it then I will seriously consider ELITE but if not, fuck it I'm out after the first map pack.

Hardline and Steady Aim are good on every class. Though I would think Recon might work better as a perk 1, exposing anyone you shoot for 12 seconds. None of the others really do much for the MK14. Scavenger maybe if you're feeling super-confident but the MK14's semi-auto fire rate should conserve ammo on its own.

I end up reloading after every 3 bullets which is a terrible habit that I should work on breaking. I think I'll switch perk 3 to stalker so I can have pseudo hip fire with laser accuracy at closer ranges although I play on really high sensitivity so it might mess up my long range shots :/ Marksman is really good for spotting longer range targets too.

Sitrep and dead silence are both good too lol

I'm finally starting to do decently in this game, meaning that I'm having quite a few more games with positive K/D ratio than negative.

I said it earlier in this thread that I felt like it would take longer than it should and longer than with other CoD games to get acclimated to these maps and I definitely think that's what was slowing me down. I still think the maps are quite bad in terms of memorability and movement though I'm unsure and this moment exactly how much of that is due to the terrible spawning system.

I've just reached 0.9 K/D (.895, if you want to be pedantic), up from around .5 or .6 in the beginning, and it's been a tough slog. I enjoy the game, just much less so than the other CoDs. I'm also wondering when the akimbo FMGs are going to be patched for PC. Please . . . let it be soon.

Only in FFA and Search. Footsteps are massively nerfed in MW3.

Dude I keep getting matched up against MLG wannabes or some shit, even in TDM! They spend the entire match soundwhoring corners, headglitching, etc.. Slowest.. fucking.. matches.. ever. The only way to get the jump on them is to crouch walk or run dead silence. So annoying

MW2's (and CoD4's) footsteps were like 5x as loud and you could hear them from much further away. Having a headset in those games was like having constant UAV. In MW3 I can only hear them if they're super close, assuming they make any noise at all (without DS of course, not that many use it to begin with, and I always check the killcam to see). One time a fucking Stalker user jumped off a ledge behind me, making the fall damage sound, and ran up and knifed me. I couldn't hear a thing. And yes, I use headphones (DT990s + Mixamp).

In Blops I said "fuck it" and used Hacker/Marathon. In MW3 I just use Steady Aim. They need to patch the game to bring footsteps back to MW2 level. Why change it to begin with?

Considering how similar BO and MW3 are in this respect, and how dissimilar they are to CoD4 and MW2, I think it's only natural to assume that they brought over the guy who did the sound design on BO to do it for MW3. And he's just not very good at his job.

Well, I know I heard footsteps. But now that you bring it up, it's possible they adjusted the sound of footsteps to be quieter in MW3 so that Sitrep Pro makes an actual difference. I never unlocked Sitrep Pro in MW2 to compare the differences, but footsteps were so obviously loud in MW2 I often wondered just how much of a difference Sitrep Pro would really make.

Not a huge difference. MW3 SitRep Pro still isn't as loud/far as non-SitRep Pro MW2. Never used SitRep Pro in MW2 but I imagine it would make footsteps sound like a fucking freight train.

I'm curious as to what people actually hear when they play the game. It's easy to tune out footsteps if you don't really care to listen for them, but if you run dead silence, are actively listening for them, and actually know what to listen for, I'm really not sure how you can't hear footsteps in this game. They're pretty loud. Granted I don't expect to hear someone across the map from me, but within my immediate vicinity, I can hear people clearly.

Though I play on a 7.1c surround sound system, not headphones. I might try headphones to see a difference though.

Also, anything that's on fire has footstep sounds baked in between the cracks and pops. That burning truck on Fallen is the worst offender, it sounds exactly like someone's messing around on the other side but there's never anyone there!

I started using a headset in MW3 so I can hear footsteps better than past COD games but I could hear them in BLOPs after they patched it. There are a bunch of times in MW3 where I've gotten the kill solely based on audio cues. It definitely isn't as loud as 4 or MW2 though

It was a mindfuck really. With SR Pro, you and your teammates footsteps have fake muffled sounds. Meaning your team sounds low but in reality the other team hears you normally. You think you're quiet but you're not.

Enemy footsteps were so damn loud that it bled into other sounds and made you think enemies were far closer than they were. I'm talking elephant stomping here! And the same enemy's other sounds, weapon firing, didn't match so you end up mixing up distance, you think 1 guy is at 1 distance when you hear shots, but their steps sound near, so you get thrown off bigtime.

And since Ninja Pro completely negated SR Pro, you have no awareness or protection from those using it especially with all the clomping around.

Ninja Pro on the other hand made you so quiet that you had a slight chance of hearing a Ninja Pro enemy if you were in a quiet area.

Robert Bowling basically just acknowledged it and said that they were working on a patch. The fact that he calls it lag compensation rather than just lag confirms that it exists at least which gives me a small glimmer of hope.

If you look at all his bad games, he has 0 score in them as well. I'm assuming he just dashboards if his ratio isn't at least 16:1 lol

Simple solution: use some of that "biggest launch for media" on some fucking dedicated servers. Why are we paying 60 bucks a year for live and a company making billions wont give dedicated servers. Epic did it right with gow3. Its a shame the games are making more money and were getting less and less as consumers. I mean they have elite on servers right? Why not do it for the actual game. Activision should get some of the guys on the wow servers to get em going for cod

Why did the make all the shotguns awful in the game EXCEPT for the striker which is the best shotgun in any of cowadooty ive played?

Striker + Extended Mags + Range = Gold Camo for me

that gun is good though

And everyone loves you for it, seriously. Recon is one of the best team perks in the game. I make sure I get Recon Pro ASAP at the start of every prestige.

I don't understand how u can do well in this game anymore. Everytime I spawn theres an an enemy less than 10 ft away from me. Then whenever I kill someone, a teammate is going to be right there to clean up and kill me every time and sometimes they're right behind me.

At this point I dont even bother sprinting or prepping nades anymore since I'm at risk of dying anywhere I go and now if I have to tell myself to not shoot the first guy I see theres a 99% chance his team is running right behind him ready to clean up and kill me.

I originally thought your team could only score while you had the flag but the other night there were several times my team had the flag for maybe the whole 1st minute of the game but even during that time there were times we were losing....how is that possible

You get points for killing enemies. If your team has the flag, your points double.

Yeah I play tdm and kill confirmed. Not sure how I could protect a specific area since I pretty much always play pubs.

edit:This is on PC btw and it doesn't help that theres aimbotters or everyone is insta killing me with akimbo smgs.

okay video. i liked the other ones where you gave tips better. but i did learned something from it tho. you patrolled a certain perimeter of the map most of the time. maybe i'll try it next time i'm on cod.

i think is a little overrated on here tbh. most of the times, you hardly knows where your enemies are especially with this respawn system, unless you run around throwing flash bangs and tubing everywhere you go. recon pro is not that useful either. if i shoot a guy, more than half the times, he's going to be dead. so there is no point of seeing where the arrow points. but like you said, it's probably good for team based especially when i play with people from gaf. but most of the times, i play randoms and everyone is looking after themselves basically.

With SitRep Pro I hear the enemies footsteps very clearly and I have started to distinguish what materials they are running on (up stairs, on dirt, etc). Black Ops I did not hear any footsteps really, but I never got SitRep Pro (or the equivelant) and I was using my headphone wrong.

I was using my headphones through my receiver for the first 60ish levels in MW3 and I couldn't hear any footsteps until SitRep Pro. I switch to using the amp that came with the headphones and I heard everything so much better.

Now I just prestiged and all footsteps sound like the enemies did with SitRep Pro so I'm spinning around alot when teammates come up behind me. I can't wait to get SitRep Pro back. I used two Prestige tokens on SitRep and the Trophy System for that very reason.
