Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 |OT| Got 99 Problems, But Sales Ain't One.

With the specialist strike package. At 8 kills do you get the regular or pro versions of all perks?

That package seems good, but for me the fun of CoD comes from earning my chopper gunner and ripping people apart from the sky, not sure I can resist the assault package.

EDIT: Woah the Osprey gunner which seems to be the chopper gunners replacement is 17 kills. Thats quite high. Im tempted to go for it though, MW2 Nukes were actually quite easy thanks to the stacking kill streaks. That said I would rather use streaks that I can get game after game. 8 kills in a row is a lot easier than 17 lol.

Sounds like it. I was hoping I could do without Quickdraw, but I think I'm gonna need it if it's really "whoever shoots first wins".

TBH I don't recall a time where that was ever not the case in COD. To me it has always been whoever shoots first wins, barring any human error in aiming and all that.

Whoever lags less wins.

I haven't seen much of the MP yet but I have to agree that the game looked kinda bland in the SP (played the 360 version) - besides two levels that looked pretty awesome and maybe were the best showcase of the CoD engine till now the game overall looked worse than Black Ops & MW2, really inconsistent-looking game...the frame-rate though was very good with some small drops here and there but overall it was very smooth even at the most crowded and demanding situations.

The SP was a fun ride overall (4:49 @ Normal) - the absence of enemy respawns was enough for me to enjoy the game more than I expected.

Really? Graphics took a step backwards from MW2 to BLOPS.

Wow.

Kinda sad that people die that fast. Or are we missing something here?

Bring back COD4. Turning around when getting shot at and then ripping through that guy was perfect.

People died that fast in COD4 as well.

You're right — I guess I meant whoever sees the other first wins. Meaning if I get into ADS and land hitmarkers a nano-second faster than the other person, I might have an advantage thanks to that perk.

Still do that on the reg in blops.

Apparently shotguns are nerfed in MW3. :(

How badly? Are we talking compared to black Ops or just compared to MW2? Because that would suck if long range weapons all get a damage increase but shotguns get nerfed.

EDIT: I just watched some vids. The guns don't seem to have damage increase, it's just that when you go from treyarch servers to IW, you notice that ALL of your bullet that should have hit do hit.

for all the people having trouble with the Elite registration page (the "re-type your password" box getting a red X):

Your password has to have a capital letter and a number. It doesn't tell you that anywhere, but changing that fixed it for me and a friend.

As far as I can tell you still can't "complete" registration by linking a gamertag til you actually pop in MW3 on Tuesday.
When I try to sign up, I can't even create an account. The next button is perminatly grayed out.

Nice, it looks like killstreak kills count towards your total kill count.

Would have preferred it if they matched the killstreaks for AC130 and the Osprey (i.e. like in MW2). I mean anyone half decent who gets an AC130 can get the Osprey no problem, now that killstreak kill stacking is back.

The sounds are pretty powerful if that youtube video is any indication.

EDIT: Is it just that people dont like Grenade launchers in CoD in general, or the way people used them?

So for the people that have it, how nerfed are explosives/noobtubes? Any fuckasses running around and causing havoc?
Don't know about grenades and such, but most impressions indicate that the noobtube has been extremely nerfed — it's not even a guaranteed kill with a nearly-direct hit.

In MW2, there was a perk where you could basically have unlimited grenade launcher ammo. It was fairly annoying, to say the least.

Significantly. And there's no fast way to resupply them, so they can't be spammed.

Mostly useful for softening enemies camping in a room or on an objective or whatever.

Is this true? I don't have the game to check.

If it's the same damage as COD4 then I'm not worried anymore.

Weapon damage was exactly the same in MW2 and COD4. The difference was the minimal recoil and non-existent sway in MW2, that's why it seemed that people died quicker in that game (also, improved hit detection). In MW3, when shooting someone outside of your weapon's effective range, you will do less damage than in COD4/MW2; otherwise, weapon damage is just as in COD4/MW2. MW3 also brings the sway and recoil back from COD4. On the other hand, there are proficiencies to reduce either of these.

Overall, considering all these variables, I guess the speed at which people die in MW3 is a nice middle point between MW2 and COD4.

Compared to Black Ops I think.

Ah got it. That does sound pretty annoying.

Not to mention there was also another perk called danger close which increased explosive damage, including noobtubes, so put those two together and its a complete clusterfuck if more than one guy is using it. Throw in a secondary launcher, whether it be an RPG, AT4, Thumper(handheld noobtube), etc and its a real bastard.

I'm watching the IGN live stream from a few days ago and it seems so. I don't remember them sounding like that in the previous games. They sound better to me.

CoD Elite website is terrible ATM. If I try and register, it tells me my email is already used but when I try to log in, it tells me to register. :(

I finally got it to link my Xbox account, but, yeah, it's acting up a bit. It keeps wanting to send me a registration email and it comes from "Blur e-mail verification" or some such.

I think it's actually for the racing game, Blur, which may explain why my email in the Activision DB is so screwy.

Still watching domination dome, seems like shooting from the hip with an AR or SMG actually works nicely at moderate-close range. Liking more and more of what I see.

EDIT: Media blitz is go on CBS.

I figured it was server stuff. This also confirms my thoughts that the AK47's damage nerf with a silencer or red dot was NOT a mistake but deliberate balancing.

So does anyone know how the shotgun's range, hipfire spread, ADS spread, and weapon switch time are for MW3? Also would be nice to know how much the damage attachment affects range for shotguns.

Good. I hated how in black ops hipfire with the pistols never worked well.

Unless they expect you to use the range proficiency to get recent range and/or silencer doesn't reduce range as much, or they fucked up on shotgun balance.

At least if the regular guns are more powerful quickscoping should be less of an issue.

I think sniping can be potentially overpowered in this game. All other types of weapons have been slightly nerfed since MW2. Not only have snipers remained the same, they seem to have given them more tools than ever before.
