Nice op! This is the first COD game I wont be buying day 1. It is surprising how little hype this game seems to have compared to it's predecessors (not that this series even needs hype at this point to sell well)

That's why MW1 was my last CoD. I played competitively in vCoD and CoD2 but MW1 made it pretty clear that the game wasn't for me anymore. It took so long for the competitive scene to mod the shit out of the game that I just lost interest.

The whole dedicated server fiasco for MW2 just cemented the idea further.

I don't hate the series for getting successful, I just hate what came with it. Good thing there are plenty of games in the sea. Plenty of people enjoy it, so no worries.

Can't wait to play this for the next 6-10 months.
Was pretty upset about the Pats loss to Pitt but minutes after the game ended I reminded myself that MW3 will be out next week and all will be good.

So I just got back from gamestop, couple people picking up uncharted 3 there, anyway the guy at the counter is talking shit about COD games in general (more often treyarch though) and then the awkwardness ensues of the following 3 people in line pre-ordering MW3.

However, since I'd be getting it on PC, I gotta ask : was MW2 and BO hacked multiplayer gameplay videos the norm or just super rare stuff?

In other words, is it safe to get it for PC or will it turn into a hackfest?

I was reading through the OP last night on my phone and a few images hadn't loaded. Happy with the perks.. sounds like some great changes and additions. Hardline Pro offering credit for assists is badass.

I'm devastated by the FAMAS being removed though.. definitely my favorite (and best) AR from MW2. :(

Should have asked if there was Kinect features for MW3, and if they had any used copies of Wii Sports Resort. That way you can watch him squirm.

How is the matchmaking going to work for Elite subscribers? I hope it doesn't split the player base once they start putting out DLC maps.

Let us try the new maps out first in special elite playlists while still letting us go back play with the general population. I don't really fancy playing with Elite only subscribers all the time.

I mean the hype is there but certainly it just feels like we've been down this road before.

I want to play it but not pay full price for it. I have no COD games right now so I would want this one to fill that void in if it's any good, which it seems like it will be good for MP as always. I do have BF3 right now and am enjoying that tremendously but I need me a COD like game on PC.

This will likely match or exceed Black Ops sales. It's gone too mainstream for it not to.

I actually think a reason for this is that the slur campaign against the series as been sort of successful and many hate to show that like the series or for every compliment give they have to take it back with a underhanded comment.

Also I think Activision has more complacent than ever and know it will do gangbusters no matter what. I have seen adds on TV but they pale in comparison to Black Ops which had live action ads with Kobe Bryant and other celebrities. They surely are not giving it the push they gave Black Ops.

Dont need to. Modern Warfare, the name itself, well make this game sell tons. Black Ops wasnt known so they had to push it hard. MW3 will outsell BO.

This entire weapon list screams american firearms lobby begging to get their new toys in the game. So many Remington and Colt. Why not much love for tiers weapons, like the amazing ARX from Beretta or even the top of the line SiG (516 anyone ?) to stay patriotic ?

Always the same gun, over and over again. MODERN WARFARE and yet, old good M16... god give me a break, it feels like even the weapon list is made from product placement contracts

I agree. I'm a little bit sick of the M4/M16 we see in every military games. At least M16 is still a burst firing weapon. It'll do the trick during my long journey to lvl 60 when I'll unlock the MK14. Can't wait... I hope it handles like MW2 FNFAL.

I don't quite get the tokens. I've prestiged in MW2 and Blops a few times.. I don't remember anything about tokens though. Can someone expand upon this a little bit?

Best buy is offering 50%bonus towards any games traded for mw3. You could trade gears 3 and black ops and be at 60 I think

Well the tokens are new. Basically when you prestige you get a token (or number of tokens) to use in a prestige store. You can buy things like 2 hours of double XP, the option to carry over one weapon into your prestige, etc.

I think the way that it works is that once you hit 80, you're given the option to choose one of these tokens that help you level up in your next prestige in a unique way. For instance, the double xp for 2 hours allows you to rank up in the next prestige twice as fast for those two hours. I'm not sure if you're allowed to pick each token more than once though.

Read through the OT and now I'm pumped for Modern Warfare 3. I know most on GAF don't have a lot of nice things to say about Modern Warfare 2 but I loved the craziness of it all. A Modern Warfare 2.5 is exactly what I wanted.
