Call of Duty studios hit with layoffs | Forza Motorsport dev Turn 10 also impacted (reportedly lost nearly 50% of their staff)

Ufff Raven... you deserved better buddy.

Ngl, I would prefer them to just close Halo Studios but keep Raven, even if they keep them in the CoD mines.

What's the point on having these guys still around when Forza for 99% of people is Forza Horizon? Gran Turismo 7 is on track of being the best-selling game of its respective series, while Forza Motorsport 2023 may as well be the worst-selling one, in a time when Forza Horizon 5 is doing WAAAAAAY better.

Well, to be fair, Forza Horizon seems to be the mainline IP for quite some time now. With the occasional Forza Motorsport as the spin-off.

I think there is still room for games like FM (and that they appeal to different people than Horizon games), but they need to be much better. Gran Turismo Sport also had a poor launch with not much content and focus on online racing (alienating SP guys), but PD managed to turn it around and even release another (this time much better) game. I don't think Turn 10 will achieve the same effect, not with half the staff and lack of bigger support from MS. Heck it took them almost 2 years to extend the career mode - a thing that a lot of people were asking for since day 1.

Really sucks for them. Felt like FM was making a turnaround recently and the physics were also pretty good for simcade. But yeah, FH took the spotlight long ago

Forza was so basic and took nearly a decade, they were past their prime. You mess with COD and I could see it taking a hit on public conscientiousness. Something is bound to make everyone tired of COD.

Turn 10 spent something like 7 years delivering a massive pile of shit, but from this action it seems clear we shouldn't expect much more from the studio going forward. They're probably on FM maintenance/update mode until it gets inevitably shut down.

I love COD but yearly releases are too frequent. Each game should get the spotlight for 2 years minimum. Then their battle passes and micro transactions will have more meaning. Layoffs aren't necessarily bad

People may be forgetting, but Turn 10 does all the engine work and car models for Forza Horizon series as well.

If 50% of the staff is out, it means that Forza Horizon 6 will also take longer to ship (at the very least!). The ripple effect of this particular move will be too much in the long run.

And if the staff is only working as support for Forza Horizon, it means that there will be no more Forza Motorsport games.
