Call of Duty Vita confirmed for Fall release.

Dang. I'm sick to death of CoD, but bringing it to the Vita would guarantee success for the console I imagine. At least finally it would work beautifully on a handheld, what with dem dual analogues.

Guarantee succes? Name one reason why a CoD fan should buy a Vita for CoD when he has it on his ps360.

Was this something expected, or maybe Sony got a little desperate with all the bad news lately? Either way I'd say it's a big deal to have the first portable COD.
It was expected. It was announced at E3 last year (no footage or release date though, just that Call of Duty is coming to Vita).

As long as it has the usual online mode. If it had cross play with PS3 for online then -that- would be pretty huge.

They do need to put some thought into tailoring this for the Vita.

If they include lots of bots, lots of the mission mode tasks, fully comparable online/local play, then it'll do fine.

Like all games for a portable though they need to tailor it for the experience. Levelly/Grindy/shooty shooty please.

for playing in an environment that isn't their mancave? You only have to look at the MGS 3DS thread to see that theres a whole slew of people who would chose to play a game on a handheld rather than on a home console.

Also - the -singlereasontobuyamachine- thing is a bit of red herring.
This is how you build up the systems appeal - give it big name games across a braod spectrum, each game adds value until you hit a tipping point.

Goodnight sweet PS3, Xbox, Wii, Vita, DS, iOS, and maybe 3DS too.

You guys frankly believe it will make that big of a difference for the Vita? Hell, for all we know COD3D could be in the works as well.

EDIT: As I sidenote, I'd probably get COD Vita :P

Any chance this will feature cross-play online with PS3 players?

I don't really see much of a point otherwise or rather I dont see this possibly being as much of a success if it didn't have that feature. Really interested in how this will be handled though really i'm expecting a straight up port with maybe just maybe the possibility of using vitas touch inputs and gyro.

Don't really see why people would buy a Vita just for COD when they could get the same or better experience that's cheaper by playing it on consoles with more people online on the console version (as well as more than likely more people that they know in real life playing the console versions).

I mean, if the person is constantly on the go then ok, but if not, I just don't get it. So overall I don't get how having COD will make the Vita an automatic success.

Wonder what we'll get first, Vita + COD bundle or Vita + Madden bundle.

Those are probably the two best chances of selling the Vita in the US.

Having messed with vita sticks. They gotta need a lot of autoaim to keep up with CoD.

Or the whole gyro thing.

And people saying 3ds can't do shooter... Give metroid prime hunters a try. People still online will kick your ass.

Now I want a metroid prime on 3ds :(

Because CoD fans can't get enough of that shit, hence why they buy it year after year after year. I'd imagine out of all of those millions who play it, there would be a substantial amount willing to fork over even more money to play it on a handheld. The killer-app does exist you know. I bought a Vita for Gravity Rush. God knows how many would be willing to buy one for CoDVita.

even if people buy the bulky-as-fuck circle pad pro and turn the 3DS into a physical monstrosity, the sliding pads are not great for FPS control. Vita will not only have a graphically superior version, but also one that is superior in the gameplay department.

Vita + Hanna Montana bundle.

Yup, this is always what decides the winning system and what games sell the most. Always.

Cross platform play between PS3 and Vita would be amazing. Vita players playing PS3 players online would be something.

Yeah, that sounds really fun; being completely gimped, tiny monitor and getting shot a lot as you travel!

It's like a kinder egg.

Well there's a lot of people buying Vita for Uncharted and FIFA so why wouldn't they?
Uncharted is a Vita exclusive game so you really can't compare it with a(more than likely) multiplat Call of Duty.
They'll both will happen.

Combined, they'll pull less revenue than a map-pack.

We'll move the goal post again.

I could see that happening even if the game sold well on the portables.

If anything I would imagine that the major COD fans would laugh at playing the game on a portable.

"Naw man... I want to kill noobs on my 50" TV."
