If you are talking about the area with the wannabe clickers all grouped togethers, you can stealth among them without a worry in the world because they can't see you for shit, it is the safest mode to just kill them with stealth because they can't detect you even if you basically kill their friends 5 cm away from them.
That area is basically 2 hours of filling your inventory with resources without wasting a bullet.

They forgot to betatest these mofos.
Yeah that's the area and yes they're way easier stealth killed. There's areas where you can launch a few enemies to their death and melee is way easier in this game than shooting. I think many who complain are playing it wrong

I'm not saying the game doesn't have flaws btw because it does but the people who are getting frustrated are usually doing it wrong lol

Silent protagonist was intentional and not Motive’s place to “correct.” I don’t need a blabbering protagonist in my survival horror games. Gunner was fine in Dead Space 2 and 3, but it was unnecessary. I don’t understand why people need cutscenes and constant rambling from their main characters. Go watch a Marvel movie.
Oh ffs. The devs stated time and again that Isaac will talk only in occasions where it makes sense to talk - as in, WHEN TALKING WITH OTHER PEOPLE. He's not going to be a constant chatterbox, they were clear on that. Are you getting your panties in a bunch because Isaac will be answering when Kendra or Hammond will be asking him a question every 2 hours? This is a deal breaker for you?

It's like listening to the same Demon's Souls bullshit all over. "OMG, they ruined it - Flamelurker now has a jaw - 2 out of 10 for me"

It doesn't really matter if the character talks a lot or a little. For games in the horror genre, there are many examples where there are good games with a lot of dialogue and little. For games in this genre, one of the most important moments is probably the creation of an atmosphere and that keeps the player in suspense. It is very difficult to scare a person by nature, but it is very real to make him sit on a chair in full tension. As an example - Darkwood, the game does not have breathtaking graphics, it is completely 2D, but the atmosphere, work with sound and environment, are kept in constant tension. Or the same Condemned: Criminal Origins - in which there is no mind-blowing plot or a large abundance of dialogues. But then again, there is work with sound, environment and the world building of the game keeps the player in suspense. (For heaven's sake, just don't play the second part...). By the way, the game is built around brutal close combat, with a finishing system. And strangely enough, they did not have to use any system with automatic dodge, despite the fact that the game is in the first person.

I disagree. If your goal is to mentally put the player inside the character, it’s preferable. If your goal is to ape movies, then talk up a storm.

Jacob should have had his helmet on the whole game and I should have only heard screams and grunts from him. They could have saved a lot of money spent on Duhamel and the others and spent that money on other gameplay related things.
There are tons and tons of horror games ames with voiced protagonists that you can feel immersed. Way more than with silenced protagonists, actually.

Hell, pick any of the most acclaimed horror games created and you'll see that the protagonist have a voice. Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Alien Isolation, Siren and etc.

It's not about him being voiced, is about what comes out of his mouth. The script. And yeah, I love the game, but Jacob kinda sucks as a character. Gets zero development and basic interations only with other characters.

And budget was never the problem, trust me lol . Krafton threw a lot of money on this production. The problem was quality control and time, probably.

They've created the whole studio and made the game in less than 3 years. Its insane. You dont see any other AAA projects nowadays being made so quickly. New IP, nonetheless.

Dam this game is best is 7 out of 10 best i mean.

This game has worst i mean worst ever gun swap system i have seen. You cannot change the gun with 2 or 3 enemies hit you. You cannot swap gun fast if you are doing melee (First the previous the gun will appear no matter if you selected a other gun while doing melee).

Yeah I am just not having fun with this title. It's a shame because I feel like I should, but yeah I think I'm just going to uninstall and chalk this up as a bad purchase for me.

What's really strange is how unafraid I am, like with dead space 1 & 2 I remember specifically feeling unnerved but in this I'm not. I think its because the main character is so heavily melle based. Like in Dead Space you want to try keep the Necromorpths away from you, because that's where you suffer if they get close. But in this especially with the acid spItters you are active encouraged to close the gap to force them into melle. it's hard to feel scared of an enemy you take out 3-5 of in a room with a stun batton, like why are they a threat if I can just unga bunga them to death?

That's the difference. CP wants you to get in there and fuck the shit out of enemies. Its about close aggressive in your face combat.

Which gives me a sense of power, making all the horror aspects disappear and feel pointless...

You know I mentioned Dead Space 1 & 2 but thinking about it harder this is the exact same issue I had with Dead Space 3, no feeling of tension or powerlessness, not due to effective melle but because I could build a weapon that made issac essentially one-shot anything at point blank and then snipe enemies at range with pin point accuracy, so at no point did anything feel threatening.

Like I remember when I got the pistol in calisto I saw how limited its ammo was and then used it almost exclusively for the extra combo stun in melle... if they wanted to make a horror game they made the wrong choice with the combat flow. Nothing feels threatening, at the ranges the enemies are supposed to be deadly I am literally the most dangerous being in the room.

Didn't start playing until after the latest series x patch. Either the game improved significantly from what was complained about previously or you're all a buncha liars😐. Combat is smooth af. Where are some of you getting "clunky and janky" from? Dodge feels perfect. The only thing DS has over this is the plasma cutter.

In this the host is too powerless. No time to change gun, only aspect is to dodge, which has it's own flaws as if someone hits you from the back you cannot dodge that, cannot use special power against boss fight, etc.

This is not a movie and it is a game that is the key developers forgot in this. Why you want to play a game if it gives you nothing special?

Is this playable on PC yet? DF couldn't even review the Pc version because of the stutter. Has it been patched? It's cheaper on PC so that's where I want to get it.

No stutter at all now after 2nd Patch. The only issue is frame pacing and it's terrible and lag too much when using a gun.

It's so disappointing. I can forgive making bad design decisions as I believe that everything's subjective. But it's hard to forgive releasing an unplayable game on the most powerful platform and charging full price for it.

Honestly it took a little while but once I learned the the tells especially in the enemy footwork it became laughable, it becomes even more laughable once you get the "stun baton breaks arm" upgrade... like I actually feel bad for them your literally just smashing your way through them and when they try to defend themselves your snapping there arm off and whaling away at them more.

While the multi enemy thing seems annoying I feel like they only target you if its the closest and if there too close together a heavy attack knocks down both anyway unless its an annoying acid spitter. I am only playing medium difficulty though.

However the issue is I was expecting to feel unnerved or powerless, at best in this game iv felt annoyed at an acid attack hitting me from behind after finishing off 7 enemies in a room. It's hardly horror it's just a bad game, and before you say "shoot there heads off" I'm talking about the ones at the end of a room engagement which they spawn behind you when your already engaged.

The game is not a homerun for studio but it a good start to a series if that's the path it takes and while there is disappointment.
It's in the improvements it needed that should have already been there due to the developers experience.
But still, new studio & new ip so I'd give them some slack.
If you are going Into this expecting Dead Space, then you gonna be disappointed.
And although it is comparable to Dead Space it is very different in it's own right, And is definitely worth playing.
Although there are some valid criticism anybody saying it's a bad game or they uninstall it after 30min that didn't have the PC version you should just ignore.

Anyway my rating for it is a very solid and respectable

8.2/10

Dead Space: 8.6/10
Resident Evil 2 Remake: 8.9/10

TGO TGO I am happy you liked the game but I wish I could see it the same way. The game is a bad, boring, slow dead space rip off that does almost nothing well.
Resdent Evil 2 remke should be 100/10 if You rate this 8.2 :p
I understand it was a dry year but the game barely deserves a 5 or a 6.

Finished this fucking game. I am happy I got the ps5 disc version. Selling this turd or throwing it out of the window.
IT WAS TERRIBLE. 7s and 8s ?! MY ASSSSSS. The game is crap.
+Great graphics
+Pretty good 30fps mode. Not the slowest very delayed like in Forspoken and other 30fps games on ps5. Actually finally 30fps mode I felt ok with playing this gen like tlou part1 and uc4 remaster.
+Performance mode looks cleaner than quality mode... quality can be grainy but performance looks a bit flat and shadowless at times. I only checked it near the end and wish I switched to performance earlier. Game looks cleaner and runs 60fps.
+Fantastic motion blur but a bit heavy even for me
+Absolutely no gradient banding at all which is a rare sight nowadays
+Good dualsense use and good 3d audio with headphones
+No bugs and crashes (ps5)
+Enjoyable exploration at times.
+Cool sc-fi setting... and that's it.

-Combat is terrible. Utterly annoying, tedious, spongy and boring. Dodge is straight up broken. Even with auto dodge from accessibility settings. It is a dodge that is boring and you can't rely on it.
-Terrible story that is cliche and is just boring
-terrible characters. You don't even feel sorry for them
-Terrible UI and inventory...
-Broken HDR with raised black levels. Looks washed out
-Worst weapon switching system ever. They have the whole fucking dpad and they make tou press right, then select and confirm weapon or quick swap to other preconfigured weapons. It is so bad in combat.
-terrible slow movement. No quick turn 180
-You crawl and shimmy for good 30% of a game. I am not kidding. And nothing ever happens in the vents.
-Cheap baby scares and random noises.... you stand in 1 spot and spooky noises generator makes noises around you.... ooof.
-Seriously... you are 10 hours into the game, crawl through the vent and they still make that monster run in front of you or body gets dragged away. or you open a chest and the larva comes out for 15th time. cmon.
-The usual objective of restoring power at least 5 times.
-Crappy DLC bait ending
-Some of worst checkpointing ever. Added at least 1 hours to my game...
-redundant weapons. 2 shotguns? 2 pistols? why... have some creativity
-The grip glove barely works. It's stolen from dead space and dead space did it better
-You stomp very single body... every single one.
-LOUD NOISES like a cheap horror movie.
-NO. I did not wanted to grab the bucket. I wanted to grab that propane tank or that enemy. GRIP never pick ups what you want.
-That one boss gets reused 4 times.
-you cannot skip cinematics
-no ng+
-No 40fps mode or unlocked fps mode... but fair enough - 30fps mode was ok.
-The Daeth animations take FOREVER if you happen to die too often
-Combat with more than 1 enemy at the time is the worst thing I've experienced this year. Camera is very close, something is happening behind you and you are decapitated. Full health. Other time, that monster will just spit at you.

I did not enjoyed this game. I was frustrated and annoyed at how random and spongy the combat feels. I got tired of dodging and grip glove was very unwieldy... 5/10
Edit: Seriously. I enjoyed the game at first but it went down the drain. Reviewers need to grow some balls and criticize the games more. Same with Forbidden West. That game got way too high scores...

Resident Evil 2 Remake would have easily hit in the 9+/10 if it had the zapping system in place and it didn't skip so much of Raccoon City at the beginning to get you to the Police Station.
A 8.9/10 is really high for me.
Which also bring me to The Callisto Protocol score.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is undoubtedly a better game.
Now I'm at the Coleny so I think I played enough to score it and that what that score is based upto
Now I may feel different once I've completed it but I really can't see how if you liked Dead Space or Resident Evil 2 Remake you would score it soooo low.
It's definitely not as good as them as a whole
And I can understand if you're expectations was really high you'd be disappointed
but it's definitely a good game any fan of those games must play imo.
Is it a full price insta-buy?
Rarely any game is.
But you definitely need to play it if you're a fan of those games.
Anyway 2 new Captures. 👍

If you go into the game looking for a Dead Space clone, you’re going to be sorely disappointed, but if you’re interested in playing a brand new AAA horror game with a lot to offer, The Callisto Protocol is a very engaging and satisfying experience that pushes production values to a new high for horror games.

Completely agree. If you take the combat out of it, the whole game is a slow version of just crouch, crawl, climb and shimmy. I honestly think it's more than 30%.

The level design was some of the most uninspiring bullshit I've ever seen.

not sure i agree, but, even if i did, what're we then to make of a game that's released 14 years later that's also happens to be suffering from this exact same stuff? because it'd appear that it's callisto protocol, as much as anyone else, that's put ds on a pedestal...

Well, as always just wait for reviews and gameplay footage day one from gamers.

Dead space it’s faster and don’t have the shimmying and vents. The atmosphere is better too.
And kinesis is used to to fly objects and enemy parts at enemies.
In Callisto you clunkily throw enemies at walks of spikes and stupid pointless grinders in the middle of the room. Makes the place feel way less believable

Good for you, i used them as walking ammo crates because the combat was stale after the first half of the game for me since you do the exact same thing without variation for the whole game, even against bosses.

The atmosphere part is debatable. I'm replaying DS right now and level design is blocky af. DS 2 aged much better on this aspect. Certainly not that believable anymore for 2022. Hopefuly EA will update it for 2022, but I wouldnt hope much.

By "objects" you mean red cannisters that explode just like in Callisto, right? And enemy parts = spiky arms. Everything else is useless to throw at them.

I agree that those spikes in Callisto may be out of place considering the environment, but as a gameplay feature, I feel its more evolved than DS with more options.

you could Smash square for most action games and still reach the end, that doesn't make it bad combat, it'll be as fun and deep as you want it to be.

If you go aggressive you'll have to be on your toes and find new ways to fight +4 enemies, you won't be able to apply the 1v1 strategies.

Completely disagree, you can't make a basic combat system that barely need any skill to begin with (unless you wanna tell me that 1vs1 is anything except completely brainless unless it's you first videogame or you have no fingers) into a deep one just be ause you play in an inefficent, convoluted way, there is nothing deep in a melee system that doesn't request any timing or reading enemy movements, you just do left, right, left, right etc. because the attack pattern is always the same, even for miniboss and bosses if you have the bravery to call that shit a boss fight...

Picking the enemies and blasting them away with the grabby thing is just a patch to avoid to fight more than one enemies in what otherwise become a shitshow.

I'm glad that you liked the game, but this shit is not deep in any way, shape or form, it make me revalue the werewolves boss fights in the order instead (kidding but you get what i mean)

Almost zero enemy variety also doesn't help with the boring feeling i was having, and the game being super generous with health, ammo and stuff you can sell to buy other ammo starting from the second half even in what is supposed to be hard mode really doesn't help with the feeling of being in a survival horror.

thats a bit of a shame.

i was bored and watched the game as a movie (someone had put together all the cutscenes) and i really wanted to see more of ferris and the (no spoilers) "group" at the end of the game.

but yeah I saw reviews and the combat looks poor :(

End of story:

Not surprising, it did 2mil in one month and it's target is 5mil.
Hell TLOU2 only did 2.8mil in a month
It was never gonna reach that in a month alone with it being a new Ip and the negative reviews and I've never seen a game with such a short window to return profit.
Although "reportedly" is not official and is probably just more people wishing on it to fail.
Although it definitely had word of mouth as everyone had their 2 cents to say about it.
Before and after release.
Especially negatively even though they haven't played it.
I've never seen a game get so much hate & cheered on to fail.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it was heralded as the scariest game ever (turned out to be not scary at all), AAAA production (could barely run on half of people's PCs due to horrible optimization in the first week), amazing A.I. (who turned out to be brain dead mooks who charge at you at full speed and just attempt to maul you), amazing new kind of enemies (most boring horror bestiary EVER), and great combat (which turned out to be a glorified QTE sequence).

It deserves every single ounce of hate it gets, especially when you consider the track record of the game's chief director.

Great game if you like TPS horror games. A solid 8 for me, even if the beginning is too hard, linear and disappointing. When you get used to dodge mechanics and obtain the gravity glove the combat becomes very satisfying, a visceral mix of melee, shooting and gravity. It doesn't deserve the hate.

I gained about 8 frames with the yesterday's patch on my 3090. The performance still drops to low 50s on occasions during certain areas. I wish they added DLSS though.
