Can Xbox IPs be salvaged by collaborating with Nintendo & PlayStation?

The games will be on their platform & they will get the same thing they get out of making any other game.
But why would Sony put Naughty Dog or Insomniac on Crash or Spyro when they could be working on TLOU/Spider-Man, or hell, if we want platformers, Jak and Daxter/Ratchet and Clank? You haven't answered why they would choose to use their resources this way.

Nintendo and Rare, I don't think that even works unless Nintendo buys Rare back wholesale, and Nintendo doesn't really do acquisitions, so again, what do they get out of it?

In theory, yes. It's possible, but the risk/reward balance falls very heavily in one direction in the majority of situations.

The guiding star, however, argues against it: developing your own IP is critical to long-term success.

A Halo game by Bungie

Crash Bandicoot by Naughty Dog

Killer Instinct , Banjo Kazooie , Perfect Dark & other games with help from Nintendo

Spyro from Insomniac .
Bungie doesn't want to make another Halo game.

Naughty Dog doesn't want to make another Crash game.

Nintendo definitely doesn't want to work together with other platform holders, unless, maybe, it's exclusive to their platform. Even then, doubtful.

Insomniac has a lot bigger fish to fry than another Spyro game.

Always thought Insomniac was a better fit for the concept of Recore than the original devs themselves or for a Crackdown reboot.

I would love Crimson Skies to come back but I don't know who would be a good fit for that.

The Sony studios are deep in their own projects anyway , it's Xbox that should of been making these games and making them great.

The root causes need sorting out but probably too late now. The martyr isn't stepping down, Matt Booty walks around like a background character in Moe's Tavern and Sarah Bond looks to be more of the same as what has come before.

I know this isn't what you're asking but how have they not contacted Ed Boon's team over at Nether Realm Studios and asked them to make killer instinct vs mortal kombat.

You're doing nothing with the IP so what's the issue?

Stranger things have happened, but I predict we'll sooner hear about some Sony Pictures deal with Xbox than like Naughty Dog giving Crash Bandicoot another shot.

Nintendo could do a DLC collab or a cross-game with Xbox, e.g., Pilotwings x Flight Simulator. But I think that would be the extent of it.

The more interesting and possibly industry-shattering change would be the AMD Xbox chip being in the next PlayStation. If every Xbox game can run natively on PlayStation then every Xbox IP can find a new audience. That would be the most insane final chapter of 'the console war.'

This would be awesome if they could pull off the balancing.

Microsoft's problem is not people to work on those IPs. It's not having the right people to manage those studios. Who the fuck let's a studio with as many experienced people as The Initiative work on something for 7 years with no direction?

How have we still not seen actual gameplay from Fable?

Why stop Zenimax studios - who were already working on PS5 versions of certain games - from making those only to backtrack and release them on PS5 later anyways?

Sony barely has enough teams to work on IPs they own, how would they work on Microsoft's?

Xbox can be saved by deciding they dont actually need to sacrifice everything for the almighty dollar. Don't see it. They've got their eyes set on being first to AI at mass scale. All the money and manpower is pointing in that direction.

You sound waaaay too much nostalgic for someone championing this current gaming timeline as the "besta eva"

Only partnership I see happening is extending their expertise to closing studios maybe..

"In alignment with our ongoing commitment to empowering creative freedom and strengthening the industry, we're excited to share that through a strategic partnership and continued collaboration with Sony, we've played a meaningful role in helping bring closure to Bungie Inc. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all involved in this bold move in the modern era."

The games are going to be on their platforms regardless of who are making them. It's not like xbox are not going to make more games.

Some would appreciate that more than their current roadmap, tbh.
those people can kick rocks lmao

We have endless devs making kiddy cartoon games.

My fav studio of all time, and a studio with that much talent making a childs game would be a final blow for me and this hobby.( At least on PlayStation. Id probably move over to PC full time)

You're clearly not paying attention we have the return to arcade like games happening right now , all the Beat'em-ups & fighting games , Shoot'em-Ups collections , remakes & remasters . The games play better. You can easily buy your own arcade right now . Yes I'm loving gaming right now & I love the fact that PlayStation is bringing out a fighting stick & supporting it with a nice fighting game , I also love that Switch support table top & Vertical mode ( PlayStation & Xbox too but with Switch devs know it can easily be used while the the consoles depends on Remote Play or rotatable monitors, I have a monitor that I keep in vertical mode so it's just up to devs to support it for me) We even have Light Gun games coming back ,

I'm not sure what I should be upset about there is a Outrun movie coming out which hopefully will lead to a new Outrun game

Astro Bot a game built around gameplay just won multiple game of the year awards that's a great sign to me

Naughty Dog don't have the capability to make a crash like game and what a waste of time it would be

Nintendo also don't have the capability to make KI or Perfect Dark

It really is. I dont get the whole gaming sucks now rants. Yeah AAA games take longer to make but that's because they are bigger than ever. Mostly every genre has ample selection and options in some form.

Nah, ND are too high on their own farts to make a lowly cartoon platformer. Goes for all of them, they want to make cinematic slop, not games.

Maybe unfair to Insomniac, they might still have a soul.
