Canada E3 Deals Thread 2016 |OT| 25x times better than last year!

Crackdown 3 and FFXII both have wrong discounts. I went through all the items individually in my order and found those to be the problematic games, so it seems like discounted games, or those that dropped in price since they went up, have a wrong discount, like the lower price eats away at the discount.

FFXII for example had a 16 dollar discount (79,99*20%) at first, and now that it went down to 69.99, the discount is 6 dollars, so the 10 dollar price drop took away 10 bucks from the discount.

So basically, Amazon is locking in the 20% discount on the price listed when you placed the pre-order Amazon first put up the game's listing?

Hopefully this gets fixed, but if it doesn't, RIP E3 pre-orders. This is awful.

Quick update: I did a spot check and it looks like any game presumed by Amazon to be a full-price $79.99 game is getting a discount equal to 20% off $79.99, even if its current/lowest price is lower. ex.

20% off $79.99 --> $63.99
Crackdown 3: $74.99 --> $63.99
Dead Island 2: $74.99 --> $63.99
Final Fantasy XII HD: $69.99 --> $63.99
World of Final Fantasy PS4: $59.99 --> $59.99 (thankfully Amazon is not RAISING prices with a negative E3 discount)

This doesn't seem to happen to any game with a lower MSRP. For example, Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness for PS4 has an MSRP of $64.99, and gets a proper discount of $13.00. Handheld games are similar; World of Final Fantasy Vita gets $10 off $49.99 as expected.

So I should cancel the steelbook preorder for P5 that I made a week ago and preorder the normal copy to get the E3 deal?

Since the steelbook is supposed to be for all preorders wouldn't the normal order get upgraded later?

This is what I'm wondering. The announcement made it seem like the steel book was first run with copies for preorders and some extras for walk-ins.

So if a game were to drop below $63.99, the discount would be negated. Wow, that's pretty rotten. So the games you mentioned and probably Grow Up and I would hope Skyrim will essentially have no discount, then.

If this is their new practice from here on out (and not just fleecing the E3 crowds), that's going to keep me from continuing past the old orders from last year. Maybe Black Friday will be a better bet (and possibly return 30%).

Amazon's adding a bunch of games from what I presume are Treehouse stream announcements. Most of them are still listed as Currently Unavailable, but:

Yokai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls (works)
Yokai Watch 2: Bony Spirits (not yet)
Paper Mario: Color Splash (not yet)
Mario Party: Star Rush (not yet)
Disney Magical World 2 (not yet)
Dragon Quest VIII (not yet)

No sign of Dragon Quest VII yet, but Amazon is clearly posting these listings as we speak so maybe in a few minutes/an hour or so all will be clear.

I havent placed an order yet but has anyone called them on this BS yet? I see nothing indicating this in their deal terms

Someone noted earlier that they asked a CSR about it and they said the promotions/marketing department was aware and that it is a "technical glitch." As with anything you hear from a CSR, take it with a grain of salt, but I hope they're working on fixing it. I'll keep checking every so often, though it's a pain in the ass to check (add to cart, start checkout, cancel, repeat).

They'll fix this when the item ships, right? It's a part of their pre-order price guarantee. We'll have to get XII for 55.99 + tax

that would explain the discount discrepancy when I was checking my order earlier. Now I dont know If I should wait a day or so to see if they get this ironed out or go ahead and place an order.

Having an undeclared fluctuating discount is not okay.

So will this effect Pokemon when it eventually drops to $49.99?

World of Final Fantasy Vita was originally listed at $59.99 and dropped to $49.99, and it still has the proper 20% discount applied. So probably? Hard to say.

Unrelated: Just Dance 2017 for Nintendo NX is now listed as Currently Unavailable. I doubt a lot of people care that much, but it probably doesn't bode well for the NX version of Zelda going up anytime soon.

They're already adding the new Nintendo games but Gravity Rush 2 is still MIA? Not very encouraging... :(

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Pokemon ordered.

That's it.

Ubisoft games tend to be $19.99 a year later. I can wait.

Hilariously, the discount on Paper Mario is GREATER than 20%. You get one guess as to what that discount is.

$26 off, which brings the price to $63.99, which just so happens to be 20% off $79.99.

Either Amazon is totally busted or they have a draconian new E3 pre-order discount policy.

Let me know when they're no longer busted and I might entertain giving them some new business this week.

Unless I fucked up and I saw the standard edition price and mistook it for the Legacy Edition, I was pretty sure I saw the Legacy Edition for $79. Along with a bunch of other games. God of War and Detroit: Become Human were both priced at $59 last night, now they're $79.

Were you maybe looking at Amazon.com? Unless the games you mention were $59.99 for a very short period of time (or while I was asleep!), I'm pretty sure Amazon.ca always had them at $79.99. At least, they went up as $79.99 games, and every time I checked they were $79.99 games.

So is it not worth it to preorder games that will probably go lower?

(Such as FF12, Pokemon SUn/Moon, and Kingdom Heats 2.8)

My list so far:
Final Fantasy XV - Will probably cancel,
Pokemon Sun - Will probably cancel,
Pokemon Moon - May cancel for Sun,
God of War,
South Park: The Fractured But Whole,
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age - WIll probably cancel due to price,
Mass Effect: ANdromeda,
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue - WIll probably cancel due to price,

It's completely worth it... once the discount is actually working properly.
So FF12? No. It's busted for that game.
The others? Go nuts. The worst that can happen is that the price doesn't drop and you cancel the order before launch day.

Incidentally, Amazon.ca has had Kingdom Hearts 2.8 lower than its current retail once already... so there's precedent.

If they don't fix this discount issue I'll probably cancel most of my orders. Not worth it when it's less than 20%

Canadians really need to show all the gaming journalist websites what Nintendo is starting to do with game prices for us, Putting high priced placeholders on everything that's been announced so far even though our dollar isn't this bad.

Maybe this. Like I mentioned, I was on the verge of falling asleep before seeing this, so take everything I said with a grain of salt. I will keep checking like a hawk, hopefully there's some truth to my ramblings.

I'm going to wait until tomorrow's Nintendo showcase and then pre-order everything that interests me. It'll be a massive order, haha.

What if it's not placeholder and is the "new" budget price?

Until the first game comes out we just have to keep hoping it's just a placeholder.

Since Nintendo is putting premiums on everything besides amiibo's I wouldn't be shocked if these are the future prices.
