Canadian Gaming Deals and Discussion Thread 3: Pining for the Good Old Days Edition

Oh ok. I thought it had to do with his posts regarding accessing netflix outside your region and I got worried there.

Nah, that has been posted a ton of times in different threads. Nobody is bothered by that.

I use unblock.us and it's pretty great. I keep it active on my Vita and PS3 and leave it off my 3DS and Wii U so I can watch American Netflix on my Sony stuff and Canadian Netflix on my Nintendo stuff in the rare case that something is only available in Canada. Totally worth the $5 per month.

I don't think Netflix particularly cares, either. I think they're willing to turn a blind eye to stuff that makes Canadians more likely to subscribe to Netflix. :p Because if I couldn't use it any more, I'd very likely cancel Netflix. I ran out of stuff to watch on the Canadian side ages ago.

So to clarify, the Wii U and 3DS shops now use a unified currency pool, but Wii Points are still separate? Never mind, they won't. Wonder if there's anything worth buying on the Wii eShop. Probably not much...

It's still cheaper to use those points cards to buy VC games in Wii mode and pay the upgrade fee than to just buy the games on Wii U.

If you guys are looking for another way to access multiple Netflix region, adfreetime seems to be a good solution. I hear good things about it, but I haven't signed up yet. I'm trying to blast through the canadian netflix selections before jumping into the other regions lol.

Oh, and I think it's like $2/month.

I'll take a look around first I guess but these particular ones look unavailable in Canada.

Thanks!

She works at Sterling shoes, so you can check your local stores and see if they have the ones you're looking for. She gets 40% off. If you find the ones you're looking for there, let me know. My offer still stands. Good luck!

I know of only two good Wiiware games and that's My Life as a King and My Life as a Dark Lord.... the rest you can probably get either on the WiiU or 3DS....

Bit.Trip games, altbough most of them are on Steam now. Also the two LostWinds games are good.

Glad I never got around to playing Rayman Legends. Just preordered it for PS4 after finding out it'll only be 40 bucks

Hopefully AC4 and Lego Marvel keep me going until then

I also use unblock. It's made things much more convenient.

PS3/Xbox One Hardened versions of COD: Ghosts are $49.97 right now at FS/BB.

No PS4. I was going to do the upgrade of the PS3 version to the PS4 for $10 extra but decided against it in the end. Just grabbed the xBone version.

I wanted MGS 3DS but it was already OOS. Darn Price Watch didn't send me anything.

Hmmm might've gotten a 4GB Vita mem card for region swapping but seems the nearest store it's available is a tad too far

Is there a site that it' 40$ on to pre order right now? or are you banking on it being dropped on Amazon.ca closer to release?

EDIT: Just grabbed Bowser's Inside Story from that FS sale. Been waiting forever for a price drop. Thanks for the heads up, Lone_Prodigy!

Grabbed Bowser's Inside Story and Spider-Man: Edge of Time. I'm so paranoid about these Marvel games now -_-

Amazing price for Mario Tennis, always wanted to pick that up at a lower price. MGS3D too.

I hear ya. I picked up Marvel vs Capcm 3 in the used section. Never thought I'd ever see that game on BB's site again.

EDIT:

Missed out on Bionic Commando (FS). DAMN IT!

Wow, the PSVita Madden bundle is- scratch that, was on sale for $143. That's a pretty awesome deal even if it doesn't come with a memory card.

Some big box stores will have basically brand new open box Vitas on sale. I got my Wifi basic Vita (no card) for $140+tax and I don't even think it was used.

If you're really wanting a cheap Vita, do some checking around. Ask a sales associate if they have any since they may not be easy to find on the storefloor.

Which stores specifically?

I know we talk about pillows a lot so I thought I would ask here since it is somewhat related...

Anyone have suggestions on where to get a mattress/bed frame for a reasonable price?
Am I crazy for thinking there might be somewhere that will do free delivery? So far I find that Sears has some good ones on sale but delivery is $70 bucks.

To keep it sort of on topic: I plan to play video games on my bed.

What's your budget and what size bed are you hoping to get? I don't really know a whole lot other than my family usually gets something from sleep country. They have some stuff on sale on their website that you could check out.

Wow, considering how many times I have heard their stupid jingle over the years, I can't believe I didn't think of Sleep Country Canada. Guess jingles don't work.

I'm thinking 300-400 for the mattress itself and I don't plan on getting a box spring.

Have done that on both my PS3 and Wii U with little issue. Had to find new DNS numbers once as the previous ones stopped working but that took almost no time. Been doing this for months.

oh yeah isny, never got to thank you for the pillow deal.

I'm a weird fuck who can't sleep without hugging something so these pillows are like a gift from heaven. Unfortunately they're the softest thing I'll ever hug in my life but whatever them's the brakes.

Bought the wife a new washer and dryer and I am allowed to grab a wii u finally :) what's the suggested bundle?? Thanks :).

It depends if you want all physical media, all digital media or don't mind a mix. The Zelda bundle has a digital download. The New Super Mario Bros. bundle has that game and its DLC (New Super Luigi) in physical format. The Nintendoland bundle is also in physical format.

If you are going digital, I'd get Zelda.
If you are going physical, I'd recommend the Mario one. If you want Nintendoland, it's packaged with a Wii Remote now.

The choice is yours. :)

I'm selling my extra 1 yr PS plus code for $25. Only thing is you have to use it right away to test if it actually works, since I've had problems redeeming codes in the past. Don't wanna sell something that doesn't work. Let me know if anyone's interested.
