Canadian Gaming Deals and Discussion Thread 4: That $70s Show

I haven't picked up a game at retail since dark souls 2. This new pricing scheme and lack of decent deals has put buying anything of importance in gaming on hold. I feel like a lot of people on here are in the same boat. I wonder how long it can sustain itself.

Until E3 probably... unless FS doesn't have the same deal as last year

EDIT: I am assuming rest of those aren't out on Blu-Ray yet?

Nope and I'm not sure if WB will release Justice league unlimited in Bluray. It seems the sale numbers weren't very good for JL. By the way, the Looney Tunes volume 1 & 2 (Bluray) are also on sales for 19.99 and it's the perfect time to buy them since volume 3 (releasing in august) will possibly be the last. The Looney tunes also suffered from poor sales in the Bluray format, so I expect those to be discontinued once they ran out of stock.

Between the Source code for $25 off and selling my Borderlands 2 code, my new Vita ended up being ~$160. Not bad for a secondary system.

What's wrong with the TV side?

Is it the picture quality or the service?

Picture quality is not the greatest. Certainly not on par with actual cable or satallite. When it first came out it froze all the time but that has been cleared up. They also introduced a pvr recently that let's you go back and watch anything from the past 7 days. Unfortunately it is only select channels right now, most I believe just OTA channels.

I'm waiting for the next E3 sale... only game i'm missing out on I kinda want to purchase is Mario Kart 8.

Silly question: Has Kirby's Return to Dreamland dropped off the face of the earth everywhere? It's up to $80-$90 on Amazon and no store has it in stock anywhere.

That's what I hear. Funny, a couple years ago I bought two copies from Staples for $20 each. One I kept, the other I traded at FS for something.

Hey guys is it improper for me to recommend a friend's free android game? He's an aspiring game designer and would really like more eyes on it.

If this is against the TOS please let me know. I looked and couldn't see anything.

I don't think this thread is the place for it (Is there even a thread for this?). But, as someone dabbling in game design, I will definitely check this out =]

I spoke with a DM at ebgames and apparently both Dreamland & Epic Yarn were recalled by Nintendo. EB had to ship their new copies back to Nintendo. They also do not accept used copies as trades of either games so at least I can tell you not to look there.

Recalled???? the hell...

There's a $25 off $75 PayPal on shop.ca (you'll get an email, if not call PayPal).
Also a $10 RETAILMENOT code.
And a $15 off $30 code here: http://www.wonderlist.ca/shopca/ (refresh for a new code)

Spend $100, use the two codes to drop it to $75, and it'll take $25 off. Basically get $50 off a $100 purchase.

Also use ebates/GCR for cashback.

EDIT: codes don't stack, so it's $40.

Anarchy Reigns is $9.97 at futureshop on both 360 and PS3, in stock online.

PS3
360

Great game, underrated among Platinum's games.
Thanks! I love Platinum's games but I never got around to it. I remember the game being online-only though. Are the servers still active and are there enough people to play with?

It's not online only, multiplayer is a big part of it but there's a full campaign mode (with two storylines to go through) as well. I don't know about how active the mutliplayer is but I'd imagine it's dead.

$10 for the single player content is worth it though.

Well deals are few are far between at this point. With the dollar as it is and all.
I love how the narrative is to just rag on our dollar and all.
Meanwhile, it's climbed back up to 92.4 cents US.
$59.99 US will now get you less than $64.99 Canadian in exchange.

Toys R Us is doing buy one game get the second at 40% off. Includes Xbox. One, PS4 and Wii U as well. No clearance (any price ending in .98)

Can anyone confirm pre orders work? Would love to get Mario Kart 8 and Wolfenstein. I've got Watch Dogs for $49 already.

Starts today and goes to May 15. Will at least get Borderlands 2 and Mario Golf if I can't pre order.

For anyone looking for a Wii U deal, Future Shop has the Skylanders bundle for $200 this week. I don't care about Skylanders, but I'm thinking about picking one up.

So Target is doing a PC Games clearance. Prices vary but definitely worth checking out.

On another note, if anyone can find a copy of Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3, please PM me or pick one up for me? There are no PC games at my local Target store.

I went to my local Target and they'd already run out of Sims 3 stuff :( Shame. I would've liked to grab a few expansions to compliment my retail copy of the base game... (even if I have Steam...)

The store I work at, some guy who runs his own store (and honestly admitted to it) came in and literally bought our entire stock of PC games clearance. This all happened yesterday.

Wonder how much he'll get out of it. After the price with tax and his markup, I'm not sure how attractive those PC games would be to the average consumer especially with Steam around....

You could probably sell the Skylanders stuff and offset the price of Mario Kart 8 or a hard drive, and you get Nintendo Land with the bundle. I'd say this is a better buy than the refurb, even with the smaller memory and no DDP.

Almost all gone at the Target I work at too, except for a couple Sims expansions and Bioshock Infinite. Even at 70% off $30 you could still get that for less on a Steam sale. Hah.

The kicker was the boxes of Warcraft game time cards were all part of this sale too.

Just got an email from Netflix. They're increasing subscriptions by a dollar to $8.99/mo, but current subbers will be price protected at $7.99/mo for two years.

If I sub now, does that mean I get it for $7.99, or is $8.99 already official?
