No idea. There was some whispering going on off-camera at the end when Mulcair said he wanted to form a strong NDP majority. Then that part just kind of kept looping before totally crashing.

._.

I'm not watching this, but my god that sounds like creepypasta material

Well, Harper ditched out on the Q&A and threw a spokesperson on the stage instead... so far the most asked question is "Where is Steven Harper" each time he sidestepped and ignored the question

So, I didn't watch a minute of the debate, but according to my Twitter feed, Trudeau and Harper were both good, while Mulcair would now even more in trouble if this thing had more than 30k viewers. And if this was something else than foreign policy.

Mulcair seems to be winning the question on who did the best in the debate on the munk debate polls which is odd.

Kory Tenycke has come out to answer questions for the CPC. Why not Harper? "Because he's not." Why is he here instead of Harper? "I'm not."

I thought it was pathetic that mulcair actually said that.

I don't blame him for saying that, per say, I just think he didn't need use that answer for that question. If someone asks "do you think you'll be able to win this election with a majority" - the only answer is a strong "yes!" if you're lib, con or ndp. The problem was the question was trying to get him to talk about alternative options, if the election goes to the cons. Instead he said something wildly untrue, giving him the impression of someone maybe not grounded in reality.

The fact this was on CPAC probably doomed it. I doubt much people watched it.

if only there was a way to make a re uploaded version go viral but from all the viewer turnouts from the other older debates it seems like most Canadians learn about these things via word of mouth (and broken telephone) rather then actually ever tuning in

Add to the fact that this is about foreign policy and it will probably go quickly under the radar, unfortunately. It was probably Trudeau's best performance so far and at least showed hope that someone could beat Harper. At best we are going to see the best jab/attack clips on news bulletin :(

The real freakshow will be Friday night on TVA. Channel has a huge amount of viewers and is quite populist. Here comes the Niqab again.

If you spend any time on the NatPo comments, the CPC trolls come out in droves for anything. Sometimes I think they have their own forum or something.

there has to be a way for younger viewers to be more interested.... The less the younger populace cares the more it is a win situation for the CPC

Short of making it mandatory or forcing it in school, I don't think its possible for the youth to get more engaged.

I'm 21 and am engaged in this election, My brother is a couple months short of being able to vote and is interested, his friends which are already 18 think he is insane for following the election and in my own group of friends its 50/50

no matter how cerebal Mulcair is, attacking Pierre Trudeau in two debates in a row will hit him in the likability scale

Pierre Trudeau is not terribly popular in the regions Mulcair needs to hold (BC, The West, non-Montreal Quebec) so disparaging Trudeau Senior doesn't necessarily hurt him. I do think it's a bit of a low blow though.

New Ipsos numbers:

Approximately 33 per cent of Canadians prefer the Liberals, the poll suggests, matching results obtained by Ipsos in a similar survey the week of Sept. 18-21. The movement since has been entirely within the NDP and Conservatives camps, with the parties effectively switching places.

The Conservatives have pulled into second place with 32 per cent support (up five points), while the NDP has slipped to third at 27 per cent (down three points). Once the front-runner, Thomas Mulcair’s party has seen a steady loss in support of roughly two points each week since early September.

Honestly, I think the best way to solve this would be pretty simple. First of all, make the minimum voting age 15-16, or the age at which you take a civics class in Highschool (I think it's grade 10/11). You follow this up by making voting a requirement to get your Highschool Diploma (with exceptions for if there was no election during your 4yr period of school or if you were not eligible to vote)

You then have to get those kids to want to continue to vote by making each vote matter, switch from FPTP to PR...reinstate the per vote subsidy. You can encourage everyone else by making election day a national holiday and if it is still a problem, throw in a tax credit for making an effort to show up and vote.

...though to get back to youth, if you really want to engage them; get an online voting scheme going and tell them they can download the Canada 20xx Election Day App straight to their iPhones!

The new strategy is to use feminism for the Conservative platform.

It's the same with abortion - make it about people choosing to abort female fetuses and say it's about preventing sex-selective abortions.

Early in the debate tonight, and something similar was mentioned in a previous debate by Harper so I decided to look it up; about how many Syrian refugees Canada would be accepting. Harper mentions something about how earlier this year they had set a new target for accepting more Syrian refugees before the media hardly even covered the issue.

Well... that new target set earlier this year was to accept 10,000 more Syrian refugees, but what Harper fails to mention is that it was only in mid-March of 2015 that Canada had in fact finally completed the quota to admit 1300 Syrian refugees that was set for 2013! Just thought that was interesting.

today (monday) marked the 15 year anniversary of his death FYI
