Not total obscurity, it seems, but that loss of Quebec support screwed them pretty hard, eh?
I think they'll do decent this election, but I'm more worried about next.
Last election being the official opposition was a godsend and gave them a chance to win this time. With the liberals in power, I don't see people going more left as an alternative, and see people put their frustrations into Harper's replacement.

That's what I assume will happen. The natural opposition will be the CPC, not the NDP.

Federally, it's been a while. Provincially, though, not long: the NDP won in Alberta back in May, and the Liberals won in Ontario last time out by campaigning from the left. It's not a rarity here.
All the ones you mentioned, plus Fantino, Calandra and Lebel, off the top of my head. Maybe Fletcher?
And Canadian polling is worse than most. I'm not going to celebrate a win until it's done, because the Conservatives seem to be just as motivated as the Liberals, and most polls seem to show them tied among advance voters.

My wishes:
1. Liberal Minority - let's keep these guys in check.
2. Stephen Harper steps down gracefully with no bullshit whatsoever.
3. We start to see the cracks forming in the Conservative party and it weakens for at least a decade. Bonus points for Rob or Doug Ford talking about running for leadership positions, further tarnishing the Conservative brand.
4. Mulcair steps down, and a lot of those parachute MPs are back to flipping burgers and wasting money in vegas instead of making six figure salaries. We actually get a charismatic leader in the NDP again. That might take another generation.
5. Alex Johnstone gets eviscerated even worse by losing her potential seat (for which she thought she was a shoe-in for).
6. Andrew Coyne breaks his silence!

Okay, fine, I meant Babble, which they promote heavily on their front page and they theoretically moderate (I haven't visited there long, but it seems like they allow non-NDP-leaning users to be the target of abuse, and only step in when NDP supporters are criticized). Jean Charest might be seen as too Eastern - ie. French. Jason Kenney is probably going to be seen as too "super" by the base. McKay is gone. Baird was also "super" but he knew it and left for the private sector. Prentice is political poison now. I honestly can't think of anyone else off of the top of my head - the Conservative party will be in disarray for at least five years - and this is all Harper's fault, for running the party as he did.

Sounds hypocritical because I don't give the other cabinet ministers a pass on this, but his messaging was controlled. He got my respect for standing up for gay people while in charge of foreign affairs. Still doesn't erase some of the shitty things he did, but I'm sure that wasn't a popular stance in the PMO.
Was that all him? I did find it strange to read about Stephen Harper fighting for gay rights in other countries...

Apparently Leitch and Bernier are darkhorse contenders. I still think Moore or Mackay may say their party needs them, so they're riding to the rescue. Our own Maharg has touted Bernard Lord, though I'm skeptical he has any capital. Apparently Brad Wall is working on his French.
If they don't go to the "Welcome to Hell" well, I'm thinking maybe something like "WTF CANADA?"
I felt the same way about his time in Harris' cabinet. He was a terrible ideologue in most respects, but at the same time, between him and Jamie Watt, I think that he helped temper some of the Conservatives' anti-gay tendencies.

Outside of a Conservative loss today, I'm also praying to god that the asshole running for the Conservatives in my riding loses handily. I'm tired of these mouthpiece MPs with no brains of their own representing my riding.
