Outside of a Conservative loss today, I'm also praying to god that the asshole running for the Conservatives in my riding loses handily. I'm tired of these mouthpiece MPs with no brains of their own representing my riding.

Poilievre gonna get fucked up!!

Just a few weeks ago I was certain of another Harper minority. Now I'm certain of a liberal minority. Come on Canada - get that fucker out of office.

All the ones you mentioned, plus Fantino, Calandra and Lebel, off the top of my head. Maybe Fletcher?

And Canadian polling is worse than most. I'm not going to celebrate a win until it's done, because the Conservatives seem to be just as motivated as the Liberals, and most polls seem to show them tied among advance voters.
Gail Shea, the Fisheries minister, is sure to lose. Fletcher isn't in Cabinet anymore; Calandra never was, he's just a parliamentary secretary.

I don't believe it's "most polls", it was one poll (Ekos).

Okay, fine, I meant Babble, which they promote heavily on their front page and they theoretically moderate (I haven't visited there long, but it seems like they allow non-NDP-leaning users to be the target of abuse, and only step in when NDP supporters are criticized). Good job, you caught me, I guess? Next time I'll specify that someone saying there's no difference between Liberals and Conservatives is something that's Rabble message board-esque. Pedantry for the win!

So rather than reevaluating your hazy sterotypes and assumptions, you prefer to double down... you're as bad the strawmen you claim to hate

I know some people gave predictions for seat numbers, but what does everyone think voter turn out will be?

I would love to see 70%+, but realistically I see 60-65%

I'm thinking of 80%+. Yes, you read it right. I'm thinking of a high voter turn out today.

I'm hoping for 70%... I get a lot of optimism from my kids who are telling me that they've never seen their friends so engaged in an election and committed to voting as they have been with this one. I hope we see a real boost in young people voting. I've been ranting and railing at any unfortunate to come by the house for the past year, reminding them that it's the old retired rich jerks like me that vote in these repulsive, corrupt, socially conservative a-holes to shore up our wealth and privilege, and that they can save their country and their future by getting their ass to a polling station... hehehe...

Completely forgot Fletcher got the boot -- and he had such a good quote about it, too! And even if Calandra isn't in cabinet, he's so omnipresent in the media that it will still feel like someone high profile is getting the boot, you know?

RE: polls, I thought I saw some others, but now all I can find is Forum, who still manage to claim the NDP had the most voters out in advance polls.

I think it's going to be high. Advance polling was waaaay up.

Wasn't advance polling up in 2011, too? Obviously, we're way beyond that number now, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Related to this, is the consensus that we'll have a good idea about Harper's fate following the results being counted in Ontario or will we have to wait for the results in British Columbia to start coming in?

If Ontario/Quebec give us a clear winner, we won't have to wait. If it's still murky by the time BC results start rolling in (which will only be half an hour later, thanks to the rolling closing times), it'll be a close finish.

I think we'll know who will form the government after Ontario, but we'll have to wait for BC's results to know if it's a minority or a majority.

Great start to my day so far.
I went to line up early to vote, and then I was told by an election worker the items and equipment for my poll number hadn't arrived, and had no idea when they would.

Normally I'd vote after I got home from work but today I'm working super extra late, past when the polls close. So I'll need to sneak out of work in order to participate in my civic duty, and even then there's no way to tell if they're ready to go or not.

I guess I'm fortunate I can walk to work. Still kinda grumpy, though.

And elections.ca is FUCKED. 503 Service Unavailable Error.

The format for live election results went 'user friendly' and completely dumb this year. In previous years they provided a nice updated spreadsheet format of all the results on a riding level that I could use to put into my site. Now it's nice enough to restrict me to seeing 'upto' four ridings after multiple clicks. Great.

I hate it when people say "My Vote won't matter so I'm going to Vote Green".

Fuck You people that do vote like this.

Fuck You indefinitely. It just makes me so mad when people vote like this.

Especially this election. Proportional representation is so close. Just unseat the Conservatives in your riding and be happy!

At least back in the day a person's vote contributed to that parties funding but Harper got rid of that asap after getting a majority in an attempt to cash starve the other parties.

In the situation above at least the person voted. The ones who say it doesn't matter and avoid voting at all are worse.

Top of page! VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE!

Huh? You wrote this in response to my post saying it's happened three times -- twice if you don't want to count the Liberals' 1980 majority. Even without that, it happened to the 1874 Liberals and the 1930 Conservatives.

That trend is pretty obvious.

Then this will be the first election since 1935 that a party went from a majority in one election to oppostion in the next.

And I intend to take complete advantage of that!

I'm just grumpy that I have to go back to my polling station instead of taking care of it then and there, and that there's no guarantee that they'll be ready when I arrive.

Of course if they're still not ready in the afternoon, they've got bigger problems than dealing with a grumpy Asian dude who wants to vote.

Are you in eastern time? I think polls opening at 9:30am is pretty late. I would have liked to get this done earlier in the day.

Apparently Leitch and Bernier are darkhorse contenders. I still think Moore or Mackay may say their party needs them, so they're riding to the rescue. Our own Maharg has touted Bernard Lord, though I'm skeptical he has any capital. Apparently Brad Wall is working on his French.

If they don't go to the "Welcome to Hell" well, I'm thinking maybe something like "WTF CANADA?"

I felt the same way about his time in Harris' cabinet. He was a terrible ideologue in most respects, but at the same time, between him and Jamie Watt, I think that he helped temper some of the Conservatives' anti-gay tendencies.

I feel Bernier is too easily dismissed over his alleged mishandling of his top secret files. I'm sure we'll see a lot of new names in the coming months.

Mackay might have stepped aside this election to avoid the stink of the loss. Who knows.

I am having fun setting up my Canada Votes 2015 page. I have added all my local ridings to my favourites plus added a few Leader's ridings to see how they do. Very excited to be watching this tonight while also watching the Blue Jays get their first victory. And I voted last weekend.

Cheers

Already having voted in advance voting, today is even more annoying than usual on an Election Day. Feel utterly powerless to effect anything! Oh well, looks like all my friends and family are voting so that's a plus.

Alright guys, I'm off to vote before my exam. I want Trudeau to win but I'm voting NPD because the liberals are dead last in my riding.

Can't wait for tonight! I've never been so invested in an election before, federal or provincial.
