Capcom Are Fixing The Infamous Rain In Resident Evil 4 With A Day 1 Patch

After our preview earlier this month, I also was able to have an interview with Hirabayashi Yoshiaki, producer on the remake and asked him specifically if there would be any changes to the rain effect as not only did it look intense but it also would have been distracting for some players. Yoshiaki had a simple but encouraging response.

"We've seen everyone's reaction to the rain effects, and we are working on a day-one patch to make adjustments"
Great news, for sure, and just indicative of how Capcom is always listening to fans when it comes to these remakes.

Strange that it has to be a day one patch.
Modern devs nowadays are weird...but at least its gonna be fixed I guess.

I can assure you a lot of people noticed it, with these massive, complex projects you have to prioritize, they probably just moved the issue up to fix it sooner.
They also could've just liked it. Not everything you make lands with people.

It definitely illuminates strange with all the character/camera motion. I remember RE2 remakes rain getting some flak too. Whatever you gotta do to keep it from looking like its raining lasers i guess.

Maybe the game has gone gold already and discs have already been pressed with the OG rain effect in. Usually the simplest explanation is the correct one.

I thought it looked weird but I didn't even play the game yet. Hope they allow you to toggle the awful rain on or off.

I think the rain in Infamous looked better than RE4 remake

The first mod after the nude mods for every model+school girl outfits, etc will bring back the original rain with a slider to make the drops 4 times bigger. Hnnnng

This change is a result of the feedback they received upon showing the effect.

Changing the effect (which means creating a new effect, implanting it and getting it through QA) for the final build probably takes too long to get it done before disk manufacture / verification process.

Embargo is next week?

It feels like it was yesterday since we were all wishing Capcom would remake RE4.
Was anyone ever wishing for a RE4 Remake? I remember when the rumors came up people were more puzzles about if it is needed.

Now, Capcom wished RE2 to be remade. That one I remember. Took forever.

I think it was when that fan project was made that showcased what a potential RE4 would look like with a new engine.

I have a feeling like this could be the best remake out of the lot, outside the original RE Remake. I really liked 2 and 3, but something tells me Capcom worked harder on this. I would be shocked if they screwed this up.

RE4 is a Capcom's prized cash-cow, there's no way in hell they were gonna let it get a second-party treatment like RE3make, and the bad reception that game got seems to have spurred them to put even more direct focus on it.

I'm ready to be razzled dazzled all over again just like the OG RE4.

After Remake 2 it seemed like a decent enough idea since they could fix a lot of its problems like they did with RE2. They aren't doing that though so now I have no interest in it.

No way they're goeing to let if get a treatment less impressive than RE2. RE4 is widely considered one of the best games ever made.
I'm not sure how close it's going to come to the originals awesomeness but I assume it won't be far off.
