Wow just back from this.

Amazing movie,it felt dangerous certain moments I wondered if some people were going to walk away unscathed.

Winter Solider was well used felt utterly menacing, going to be very, very interesting how what happened in this film will filter out throughout the MCU universe as things have changed forever.

If I had one issue, it's that it felt more like a Black Widow movie with Cap as a supporting character. She has just as much screen time and has the more interesting moments throughout the movie.

Man... maybe I'll agree after I see it, but... this actually makes me excited because Widow has been one of the weaker links in terms of these characters for me in addition to Hawkeye. If this movie helps me like her more, that's a rousing success in my eyes.

Yeah, in Thor 2, supposedly the stakes are higher (the whole universe is supposed to be destroyed by Malekith), but it feels so lightweight and inconsequential compared to what happens in Cap 2.

Right. The biggest issue I had with that was that it was this rushed doomsday scenario that absolutely failed to actually apply any pressure or as you said, establish any stakes. The script is so haphazardly written that I have no idea how it was seen as remotely acceptable, the characterizations were awful and every single supporting character/actor was atrocious except for Sarsgaard but even for him, as usual, he was pretty much relegated to comic relief.

Thor 2 is basically "LOTS OF BAD SHIT IS HAPPENING AND NO ONE CARES: THE MOVIE"

But again, it's incredible just how generic the story and characters are and how predictable the entire thing is. Holy shit. I was a bit surprised when my friends and I managed predict literally every major event beforehand without making a single mistake. It's not exactly taking any risks with its story. The things it says and does are still nice, but they've been done to death.
You predicted HUGE SPOILERS
Zola's appearance, how deep the infiltration went and Hydra's plan?
Kudos to you, go play the lottery or something.
If you meant
Fury's non-death and who the WS was
then lol

It certainly gave me a new found love/appreciation for the character. She's fantastic throughout.

As good as she is, I felt they could have focused more on TWS and Cap, but as I said, she's fantastic throughout and doesn't feel she's shoehorned in as she did in IM2.

Yeah. My thing is, I already really dig Captain America and Evans is very likable. For me this movie, despite its namesake, doesn't really need to add much more to the character. However, if it develops other supporting characters that are in desperate need of such, that works for me. Again I could change my tune after I actually see it, but again I already like Captain America, and could not care less for Black Widow.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, much better than Thor 2 and I'd say it's on par with Avengers.

Winter Soldier looks so badass on screen, was a little concerned when the on set pics leaked, but it looks damn good in action.

Overall, great movie.

Oh and the GoTG trailer got a massive pop from the audience. Seems there's quite a bit of hype for that one...which I was really surprised by.

Man of Steel's trailer pretty much got a standing ovation when it screened before one of the movies I saw last year. Can't remember which one, but I typically don't enjoy that stuff after a trailer. Lol.

That said, GoTG getting these reactions is always a good thing. Wish we'd get a new trailer! Hopefully TASM2 will have one.

I've said this before, but after wanting a Black Widow movie for quite some time in order to justify her I feel like The Winter Soldier pulls double duties pretty well and kind of eliminates that need. Her role in this movie is to practically play up a Good-Cop/Bad-Cop dynamic with Steve, with her taking up the latter role. Both of the characters are known prior to the movie to have an identity crisis, and in this movie, Natasha is there to be a gateway for Steve in the modern world while Steve is there to strengthen her integrity.

Despite being more associated with Hawkeye, both Cap and Black Widow make an awesome duo and I think it's great for her to finally get a leading role.

That sounds great! If I had any problems with The Avengers it was mainly her and Hawkeye. It isn't the fault of the actors, but just how many characters were being juggled, and the major players like Downey again got a lot of attention despite having their own independent films that already introduced and developed them. Black Widow has been in some of those, but never to any massive degree.

I didn't give a shit about Widow either, but I really like her in TWS.

I think that's one of the better aspects of TWS, every supporting character feels in place and doesn't feel that tacked on. I mean, when I heard Falcon was going to be in the movie I kinda went "Eh", but watching him made me go "Oh cool, he's actually pretty awesome!"

This movie will have longer legs than IM3 and Dark World. It just needs to get the word out. Internationally, Cap is seen as a little bit of a silly propaganda thing, outside of the core fans. The character is far better than that, but it has that hill to climb to convince people. Thor had a great international cast and a fantasy setting, and Iron Man had wizbang tech and RDJ, who is very popular with international audiences.

Which is funny, considering the message behind the movie is pretty much a political commentary against some of the most controversial aspect of Us policy both internal and external. It would be pretty sad to see this movie passed on in Europe just because of negative (or absent) press efforts: I mean, and this is no spoiler, there is a sequence in the beginning of the movie where Marvel went out of his way to customize a little joke in order to make it specific to each single country.
You guys should look at the spoiler thread once you've seen the movie.
As a matter of fact, I really liked that Cap starts with the black uniform of the Us Agent, kind of suggesting a more fascist approach of Shield in terms of policy and aesthetics.
The "new" uniform looks awesome, by the way :D

Just saw it, I thought it was great. The action was the best of any Marvel film yet, and the plot was actually engaging and mattered. Most importantly, well, it felt important, this film completely changes the landscape of the films.
All of them, or just the Earth-based ones (no spoilers, please)?

Performed well internationally:

http://www.thewrap.com/captain-america-winter-soldier-opens-huge-75-million-overseas/
Disney's “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” roared out of the gate, taking in $75.2 million in its overseas box-office debut this weekend. The action adventure dominated the international market, with current estimated openings at No. 1 in all but two of its 32 markets. It opens in the U.S. on Friday and is tracking for the year's biggest domestic debut, at more than $80 million-plus. The biggest overseas markets were Korea with $10.9 million and the U.K. with $10.7 million. The U.K. figure is telling — the first “Captain America” did $14.7 million over the course of its entire run there.

I'm going to rewatch it on Tuesday, something about the movie was a little off, probably the dialogues but I really need to watch it again. It's still one of the best Marvel movies but I've just finished watching Iron Man 3 for the third time and yeah, not going to top it. My hype for GOTG is so high!

Us IM3 fans have to stick together, the Internet is a dangerous place for us.

Goof to hear you generally enjoyed Cap, and I think GoTG will be a sleeper hit.

Man of Steel's Trailer #3 is an incredible trailer, it makes the movie look freakin awesome. Unfortunately that trailer is miles better than the actual movie turned out to be. :(

Wow, that's crazy.

First time I have seen the trailer since watching the movie.

It's like the dialog was written for the sole purpose of making an awesome trailer, in the context of the movie, a lot of it felt kinda clunky.

yeah forreal. dialogue worked so much better in the trailer than the film itself oddly enough.

still i think man of steel (as flawed as it was) and iron man 3 are the best comic book films since tdk

that's not saying much for me but they're interesting imo.

i would say since tdkr but that really disappointed. aside from the glorious final minutes.

I'm not saying that Captain America 2 is crap. But I don't see how anyone can claim that it is much better than a Very Special Episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Came across this interesting critic blurb on RT:

http://moviecitynews.com/2014/03/review-ish-captain-america-the-winter-soldier/

I have yet to see the film this week, but i'm pretty sure this person has never watched an episode of AOS.

Does the movie add to the Marvel Universe idea? I suppose there are a few seeds planted for future films. But there is also that weird, lingering “because of what happened in New York” thing that suggests that people who work at Marvel think that what happened to New York in Avengers is particularly memorable or not just Standard Comic Book Movie Procedure. Ironically, Man of Steel, with which I had big problems, had more impact with its destruction of a city because there was real emotion attached to the fight between Superman & Zod. In Avengers, which was infinitely better as an entertainment, the fight in New York was just a chance to blow stuff (and bad guys) up.

They appear to have missed the point that, while it may be "Standard Comic Book Movie Procedure", this is a universe where this kind of thing hasn't happened before. If everyone just carried on as normal in these films after an alien invasion, things would seem super weird.

i kinda thought 'krypton had it's chance' was an oh shit moment. oh and when superman destroyed that giant machine

"battle of new york" was as boring as the zod vs. superman fight. but it also had it's redeeming moment when you see iron man and captain america fighting together.

That trailer was the stuff of legend. My hype was at critical mass after that shit dropped. While the movie wasn't nearly as good, it had quite a bit of eye porn. Those battles were visually exiting and did Supes justice, shame that the last battle couldn't hold a candle to the in the middle.

I thought MoS needed a better writer as some of the dialogue was turrrrible. Otherwise I enjoyed the movie.....not as much as superman 1 and 2 but certainly more than 3 4 and returns.

One of the greatest injustices, all of the trailers were epic. The movie bombed hardcore. When the dialog is written so bad that you dislike the good guys and love the bad guy (if only for his no people speech near the end) you are doing something wrong.

I saw Avenger's 3 times in theaters, with 3 different groups of people. Battle for NY had the audience engaged the whole way through.

The entire one shot being topped off with Hulk punching the Thor is good cinema. Made the kids in all most of us laugh. My sibs ate that all up.

Found it a lot more entertaining. Superman vs Zod wasn't even the best fight in the movie. Buddy had his half sized female side kick give Supes a harder time. Faora could've probably beat Zod's ass too.

Is he actually complaining that one of the world's most important cities being destroyed had consequences in future films instead of being ignored?

Don't forget this kicker:
Finally, I used the word “I” a lot in this review… because it really is about how I felt. There are a lot of objective complaints to make about the film, but these movies are a subjective experience and 90 something percent at Rotten Tomatoes, while a little shocking to me, is interesting. Do I think that some of the critics are grading on a curve, in that the film suggests that it has a political message worthy of serious consideration and has Robert Redford mouthing platitudes? Yeah. Will any of them think about this film again… ever? Not likely. But so it goes.

He also have problem with the movie current rating being too high...lol

As someone who actually watches Agents of SHIELD (mostly because it's fascinating trainwreck to watch, even though there are hints of "greatness" hidden in it) I absolutely disagree with that blurb.

IMO, if you can't see the difference between AoS and TWS, maybe it's time to review different things. Well. it's the second weird review I've seen about Cap 2. I saw a Dutch one and I think he watched a very different movie.

Thinking of it more the biggest problem I had with this movie was the same as the first one, the main villain feels underdeveloped. Actually think it's a shame because as great as I think the movie is, I thought it had a lot more potential.

LOL That reviewer is nothing but a butthurt troll. Nothing wrong with thinking it is a bad movie, or disliking it for plot/visual/other justfiable reasons, but when you are so blatant about the comparisons (especially the AoS one, sheesh) and feel the need to justify your subjectivity (hello! That's what reviews always are) against the very specific positive praise in a particular site, it makes your agenda pretty clear.

Well,
The villain isn't exactly the villain.

The amusing thing there was that confrontation starting from Superman's line and the battle itself - only made me want to play Injustice more than i had previously.
