Cartoons that scared you as a kid

Can't recall anything that outright scared me but The Mouse and His Child weirded me out and depressed me at a age where I didn't even know what being depressed was. =P

I forgot about Aeon Flux! Yeah, that freaked me out too. Akira, while anime, was also something that freaked me out for the longest time. Just seemed really raw. That’s what I love about it, though.

Everybody watch this. This is amazing. Loved it since I was a kid but it was definitely creepy. God tier sound design and atmosphere.

This is basically Texas Chainsaw Massacre for kids.

Nothing tbh.

Modern cartoons are so bad they scar adults rn though.

I don't remember any specific cartoon show scaring me, but this cartoon movie scene...

Oh the nightmares memories. :^)

Was gonna post something similar. Don Bluth movies always have super sinister looking characters that scared me as a kid. Loved the Don Bluth classics though, still do.

Plague Dogs hit me hard and was Brutal as well. By same people who made Watership Down.

I would also add Wizards

And this was freaky too... Gandahar

And the final nail in my childhood cartoon that was creepy as Hell, Fantastic Planet!

My Father was into Scifi, great cartoons but not kid friendly. I would also add Animal Farm too as scary...

That episode of tom and jerry when tom had to get jerry to sign some contract or something of the sort to prevent him from going to hell, shit was scary as a kid, at least for me.

Watership down and When the wind blows, extra points because I saw watership down at the cinema in the late 70's as a young child, how that film got a 'U' rating is beyond me!.

Pure nightmare fuel.

This is not a cartoon but a PSA, but it scared a generation of Canadian kids. The production values are through the roof though, and it still boggles my mind that they could get that kind of budget and such good special effects for a Canadian TV spot back in the Eighties.

The robot says at the end: "I can put back my arm. You can't. Play safe."

Yes, Mr. Robot, said a generation of Canuck kids!
