They will do some shooting in Gary, Indiana and the script has been changed to feature the City Methodist Church.

GARY — The production team responsible for “The Matrix” will shoot a scene for an upcoming Netflix science-fiction series beginning next week in one of the city’s most familiar movie backdrops.

In fact, producers of “Sense8,” coming to Netflix in summer 2015, were so impressed with City Methodist Church, they changed the name of one of the sites in the show’s script, according to the location manager for the shoot.

“We were looking for a big, open beautiful space, and it turns out it became a church,” said Monoleto Wilborn, of Unpronounceable Productions LLC of Chicago. “The site had to look really awesome and cool, so we had to go above and beyond and give (producers) suggestions. Once they saw the church they changed the name to ‘interior church, burned out’ in the story.”

I think I know what he is talking about, in the copy of the script I have it's "INT. BURNED OUT APARTMENT". Well now it's a church.

Unpronounceable Productions will prepare for the scenes July 24, shoot them July 25 and wrap up taping July 28, Wilborn said. The firm will hire Gary Police Department officers, in squad cars and off-duty, for security.

The firm also will bring a 120-person crew, including actors and the Wachowskis, to the scenes and have already paid the city $1,500 for the rights to film the scenes, according to a contract with the city.

As far as I know the Gary scene in the church is the scene with "Angel" (Daryl Hannah), "Jonas" (Naveen Andrews) and "Mr. Whispers" (???). Is Pantoliano "Mr. Whispers", the villain of the show?

Note: nobody calls him "Mr. Whispers". It's how the script calls him, but no character refers to him like that.

Wow, it's great to be back in Chicago. Worked with Andy and Lana Wachowski, the creators of Matrix on Sense 8 for NetFlix today and shared a close up scene with Joe Pantoliano from the Sopranos. On set with me were Patricia Urbonas Rankin Clark, Teresa Merry and Tc Rose. Then I spent 5 hours in call back for a holiday play which went exceptionally well. Now I am on set for a commercial on Wednesday. Acting in the Windy City.

Just wrapped up a 14 hour day on the new Wachowski series for Netflix called 'Sense8'. It's going to be a cool show.
Got to meet Joe Pantoliano, so that was cool. Didn't get to meet his hairpiece though.

Tonight I wore a prosthetic vagina, got in the back of a 1988 Chicago cop car on Lake Shore Drive, covered in blood, and birthed a baby to Joe Pantoliano while Lana and Andy Wachowski watched. &#8234;#&#8206;prostheticvagina&#8236;

The show sure sounds wild! XD

Shooting will take place in Iceland from August 26 to September 6 and Eskimo-Casting is looking for Icelandic extras to take part in the project, Fréttablaðið reports.

&#8220;We&#8217;re looking for people of the ages 18-70 of all types and sizes and no acting experience is necessary. We are also looking for people experienced with nursing or medicine, as well as classic musicians,&#8221; said Andrea Brabin, owner of Eskimo.

Today marks the final day of a month of shooting in and around Chicago today by Lana and Andy Wachowski for their upcoming Netflix series "Sense8." The production from the Wachowskis and "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski has filmed in a variety of neighborhoods and locales all over the city, including a high-speed car chase in Uptown, a trip over to Wrigley Field and even a stop by the ever-popular Superdawg, where the cast and crew of more than 200 filmed earlier this week.

Illinois Film Office Director Betsy Steinberg commented, "Having a Wachowski project in Chicago two summers in a row has meant a lot to our community. Andy and Lana love shooting in their hometown and I hope it's a trend that continues!"

“It’s the best four hours of anything we’ve done,” asserted Sarandos about the series. “Their film reviews have been brutal, and everything after The Matrix didn’t go well, but if you look at the earlier cuts of their films before they had to jam them down to 120 minutes, it’s amazing. There’s a four-hour cut of Cloud Atlas that will blow you away.”

“From a budget standpoint and a running time, it’s every bit as big, if not bigger, than their feature films,” Sarandos said about Sense8.

A source close to the production told Deadline last week that the Wachowskis “aren’t overspending, they’re coming in on time, and they’re wonderful to work with. This is the first time that they’ve created a longform series, and it may well work to their creative sensibilities more than film recently.” Another source close to the siblings said: “Who knows if they’ll ever direct a film again? They might have found their niche with episodic drama.”

- Verge: Netflix's new sci-fi series from the Wachowskis is coming on June 5th.

The next wave of original programming from Netflix is officially on the way. Today the streaming giant announced premiere dates for a number of new shows, including fan favorite Orange is the New Black and Sense8, the sci-fi drama series created by the Wachowskis and famed writer J. Michael Straczynski. The latter series, which is set to debut on June 5th, has been in development since 2013 and will follow eight so-called "sensates": individuals linked to one another through technological means after a tragic accident.
