I don't think it's stretching it. If anything, because it was a serious episode they had to make it a bit less obvious. The writers are having fun with it, regardless of the tenor of a given episode. It just impacts how they handle the references.

I assume next week will be filled with more blatant references.

Need to see the rest of the episode still, but just from the last twenty minutes we had Quark from DS9, and Stark from Eureka. Any other sci fi alum in the show guest starring tonight?

I wonder if they are going to "adult" Alexis up, Considering that's by far the most skin she has shown in the show and it was a really random event, Especially for that character.

I hope her char doesn't become too cliche with the uni life stuff.

Light spoilers from EW about the Christmas episode:
Per the boss, the “charming and heartfelt” episode will chronicle Castle and Beckett’s first Christmas as a couple. “We’ll see the pressures of that and what each of their personal traditions are and how those might clash — and complement each other,” says Marlowe. Meanwhile, fans to see Christmas through the eyes of lots of our precinct faves. “[We’ll see] what Esposito is doing for Christmas, what Lainey is doing for Christmas — and what they may or may not be doing together, and Ryan is having a little Christmas crisis of his own,” he says.

There’s also a Santa falling from the sky (Marlowe jokes that we should not to watch with Santa-loving children “unless you want to have to explain some stuff”) and a gift exchange to remember. Oh, and those of you claiming it’s time for the Ryan family to expand? “We certainly plant some seeds about that in the Christmas episode,” he teases.

The actual case was really meh but fun episode

What a great episode, so much geek it was almost too much but they pulled it off.

Favourite line:
Beckett: "In your dreams".
Castle: "Look at me. My dreams come true".

(I've possibly goofed that up, you get the idea).

I just like the fact that it was out of nowhere with Alexis. No build up of her walking towards Castle and then him seeing her. It was just "BAM!" Sexy redhead!

Good episode...but really...Why wouldnt Alexis know her dad is at the convention? Even if she knew his signing schedule and purposely avoided him based on that...it shouldnt be a complete shock to run into him on the floor.

Not that it really matters, but come on now...haha

I thought that as well. I am not complaining...but I had the same issue with that.

Armin, no stranger to Joss Whedonverse, was also on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where Nathan also was on for a time.

Wearing a Han shot first shirt, and him saying the word Klingon... soo gud
