Okay, I'm po' folk so I get to ride the bus to work every morning. This morning on the way to work, the guys I ride with (I'm the token white guy, but I don't fit in all that well since I've never attempted emulating black folks outside of being pissed off at the system which oppresses all folks at the same economic level. I lack the swagger, fashion, and lexicon.) were flipping through the new King magazine which had a feature on the Xbox360. This sparked the conversation amongst these guys. When solicited for an opinion, I just said - "Sorry, I'm reading this comic" and stuck my nose back in Hyper Police Vol.3 and grinned to myself.
The first comment of note was something along the lines of "The PS3 is gonna smoke that new Xbox."
There was some debate over the issue. One fellow raised the point that the Xbox this generation didn't need a memory card, and had better on-line play.
The monkey wrench here was the Retard Pack and the regular pack. It would seem that from this encounter outside a gaming forum or game retailer, folks aren't aware of the two price points for the Xbox360. There was no mention of the rumored astronomical PS3 price point.
My co-worker inquired what the difference was, and at that hour in the morning the only difference I could recall before caffienation was lack of a hard drive.
It was just kind of interesting to sit around and observe reactions outside of Game Crazy or this here forum.
Later, one of the guys started joking around about an Xbox raffle his employer was having. He invoked the "white guy voice" mocking the managerial and quipped, "Them ni##ers sure love that Xbox." :lol
At work, the ex-Marine was all hot for Socom 3 and the Nintendo fan / PC gamer was talking smack about "pwning" us all. Which sort of piqued my interest in picking up a Wireless B adapter for my PS2. Could be fun to play with folks I know, even if I had no plan of picking up Socom 3 initially. Hopefully the addition of a telepipe equivalent in MH2 could balance it all out.
On the ride home with the morning crew, the talk was about sports games. The lack of half time shows in Madden was the big deal, apparently the ESPN series has better cheerleaders. Which then segued into DOAX talk, which kind of made me cringe on general principle (wouldn't wish the DOA series on my worst enemy).
It was good to find another guy on the bus has no patience for the whole stealth action genre as well. A kindred spirit.
Ah well - that's enough casual observations for today. That 40oz. of Molson Ice I picked up after work and the generic brand Fruity Pebbles are kicking my ass. WHEEEEE!
