Yes it is. Is cancel culture, saying that there are 273 genders and white supremacy is everywhere, giving pills to boys in school because they act like boys make a better society? I see that China wants to prevent the Anglo-nihilisim. Communism is bad in itself but I can get their take on this.

To be fair, China is also doing the diversity social narrative but with their own ethnic groups within the Mainland (including Uyghurs) and also partnering countries for their Belt and Road thingy.
However they have not gone full "woke" with this narrative; it is more like they are trying to harmonize with Western multiculturalism. Meanwhile the elites in the West seem to have decided to stir some social angst by turning the diversity valve here up to 11 in order to "trigger".

Their lopsided gender demographic split must be very troubling to them. Vast amounts of men over there have literally no chance at ever getting married. There must be many going gay as a result, which probably alarms them into making mandates like these.

If a company wants to sell their game in China, they have to make sure it won't have say, a gay protagonist because the Chinese market will ban it.Sorry I meant to say games and gaming world
The less regions you sell your game at, the less money you make.
So companies will have to make a choice: A) Don't sell in China and get less money but earn twitter points, or B) don't have effeminate male and gay characters in the game - thus making money from the Chinese market - but earn the wrath of the western SJWs.
A 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' scenario for the western publishers/devs.
