This is GSD data, so there are a few caveats at play here, as with all trackers:
  • Nintendo doesn’t share digital sales data with GSD, so Chris here only has the retail sales data for Nintendo's 1st party releases.
  • All major publishers do share digital sales data with GSD, but several huge releases this year came from independent developers (e.g., Palworld & Wukong) and these are not tracked by GSD.
GSD digital data includes games from participating companies sold via Steam, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Nintendo Eshop. Major participating companies are Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Codemasters, Electronic Arts, Embracer Group (including Gearbox, Koch Media, Sabre Interactive), Focus Entertainment, Konami, Marvellous Games, Microids, Microsoft (including Bethesda), Milestone, Nacon, Paradox Interactive, Quantic Dream, Sega, Sony, Square Enix, Take-Two, Tencent, Ubisoft and Warner Bros. Nintendo and 505 Games are the notable absentees, alongside smaller studios.

Digital data includes games sold in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and United Kingdom.

Give us what we want and you'll be rewarded with currency. Pretty simple concept. It's funny how this concept is lost on many of these sellers. Even baffling is the sellers who have a long and successful history of executing this concept all of the sudden forgetting it.

To be specific, Japanese -retail only- charts.

Because let's remember 80% of the game sales for PS in the previous quarter were digital, and basically 100% of the PC ones too.

I was going to buy this day 1, but when I saw this, its clear, I just can't support something like this. Its clear, even obvious whast going on here and it seems many are too scared to say. I saw all I needed to see to know what kind of developer this is. smh, i mean...smfh even

Space Marine 2 was a looker when it got announced years ago. Add in the fact that people are starved for quality alpha bro games without a bunch of heavy-handed bullshit injected into it. Go figure.

I think he's just mentioning the biggest new games this year. I doubt the retail-only sales of Peach Showtime or Endless Ocean 3 were particularly high.

Edit: or more likely he's only including he has digital information for.

Sony exclusives are crazy strong this year. I bet if we extended it to top 20 new games we'd see Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin too.

I assume Astro Bot sold well, and will sell more near Christmas as gift for kids. So maybe at the end of the year may be in top 20, pretty likely above Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin. And there's the Destiny 2 TFS expansion too.

They seriously don't count FF7R as a new game? It's a remake of a 27 year old game and it's nowhere near "by-the-numbers".
