It's a shame he wasn't finally included in the production, but they're no Greeks on the cast either, so I'm not shocked. My family is Greek so yes I'm a little salty about the casting choices lol

Apparently, he's well-studied, self-taught, follows specific schematics/designs from historical documents/books/frescos (and armors that have survived to this day) and he just adds his..."interpretation" only to armors which we don't have all the data available (i.e, "filling in the blanks").
I have to wonder though, how does the guy make a living ? Sure, maybe a commission here and there from museums etc but i don't know if that's enough in today's world, although, he must absolutely love his craft so...
I'm proud of people like Dimitris that keep our beautiful culture (and history) alive, 'cause this country man...it's a shame what has become of it - what once was the birthplace of philosophy, mathematics, science, art, architecture, literature, geometry and medicine...nowadays it's yet another Westernized shithole with unhappy people whenever you look, zero industrial prowess and with a cultural bar so low that it's actually depressive.
PS : Guy is built like a brick wall, that's the model that people should aspire to, naturally building your body through hard work unlike the usual gym narcissists with their bullshit "do you even lift bro" memes and having their gym selfies as avatars online with their ego being more fragile than a fucking corn flake

Yeah, that movie was aiming to portray Britain right as the Romans pulled out, so Arthur was wearing Roman armor. Roman armor is of course an evolution of Greek armor (plus other influences).
Terry English designed it. We talked about him a while back as the armorer for Excalibur.
Doesn't Greece have a legendary lavish social security system?
Maybe this guy lives in the dole and that let's him pursue a true artistic calling. That's always the selling point for a basic income, so maybe he's the poster child for how good it can be.

Here is the oldest known depiction of a scene from the Trojan War, from the Mykonos Vase, circa 675 BC.
It's of the Trojan Horse, and it depicts the hidden soldiers in the horse and surrounded by Greek soldiers on the outside.
They had interesting head armor and round shields and spears.
Here's Achilles standing with Athena to his left, circa 500BC:
There are lots of details on that armor, and there are many more examples of this art. It would have looked incredible brought to life.

It looks significantly better than I thought it would. It is just a teaser, but I expected the worst.
A phone recording played in a little youtube box is NOT the way to experience anything by Nolan. They really need to get out in front of this with nice 4k videos as I'm assuming this is supposed to be a spectacle film, not a quiet character study.

The Odyssey is a fantasy tale, so I'm not sure why people are getting hung up on the accuracy of the armour. It's an epic poem that features fantastical creatures like the Cyclops. It was never meant to be a historical account.
I'm certainly intrigued on how Nolan will handle this. Will he go all out on the fantastical elements, or will they be more grounded
The premise of the story certainly fits the theme of time that Nolan is known for.
Nolan should have made the Iliad and Odyssey back to back.

Looking forward to the movie. I am outside of the "action demographic" at this point...but I'm a dude so Ill be down for some "bros VS giant monster" set pieces.
I have a feeling this will be a VERY grounded take, not like a Ray Harryhausen film or anything. There may be gods represented as humans, but I suspect the cyclops will be more of a large man, scylla and charybdis are a rock and whirlpool, not a hydra and an animate drain, etc. Would love to be wrong though.
