The latest issue of Famitsu contains first word on Chrome Hounds, a new Xbox 360 title from Sega. A mech-based action game, Chrome Hounds is being developed by Japanese studio From Software, mech-master maker of the Armored Core series.

Chrome Hounds promises full-on mech action with Xbox Live Online play. You'll be able to team up with other players Online and head out to the battlefield. Sadly, while it's known that you'll have full control over your mech during the action, gameplay specifics haven't been revealed at this point.
We know one other thing about the title. Sure to please From Software fans, Chrome Hounds will allow for players to customize their mechs, adding parts in all areas, from cockpit to legs. Given the amount of customization offered in From's other titles, we expect to see some original mech creations Online.

From is promisesing a game whose visuals you won't be able to differentiate from pre-rendered CG. Let's hope we get a glimpse at E3.
Nice, thought this game was dead.

Actually Chrome Hound was announced before MWC. Everybody thought they changed the game's name, but it looks like they moved the project.

From sure does love their Xbox, don't they? Not that I'm complaining, I think it's pretty cool that some semi obscure Japanese developers develop some stuff for MS.

chrome at the sega theater looked great and 100% realtime.. supposed to be pretty tactical and seems more slow moving like mechwarrior (hell, give them the mech license and let fasa work on shadowrun!)

sigh. I was hoping what was shown of Chrome Hounds was not CG :(

The presenters made it clear several times that everything shown in the Sega theater was 100% realtime footage. That includes Chrome Hounds.

It sure looked like CG...so if that's indeed realtime, that's a pretty incredible acheivement. I think it was the best looking title in that Sega Next Gen vid loop.

I can back this up cos I was there too....twice... :D

If Sega can push Chrome Hounds out of current Xbox dev kits, it speaks volumes about what we can expect from the next gen hardware and its games.

Thrice for me. :lol
I really wanted to go one last time before E3 ended but my friend wasn't interested...and I can't just left him behind...I wish I did tho...hhehehe...

For the people who went to the presentation, I know they stated everything was realtime, but did they mention the platform? We know about Chrome Hounds (and have more than a good idea for Sonic) but some sites say everything was running on Xbox 360 hardware, others aren't so sure...

i take it the sega reps said different things at different times.. the lady emphasised everything was running on real time but i think during my presentation only indicated condemned, full auto, and chrome definitely on the 360 (i didnt ask directly however). the sega people were REALLY interested in our reactions though, they were very enthusiastic as we were walking out

Full Auto, Condemned and Chrome Hounds are the only games that they mentioned the platform, Xbox 360. VF, After burner, HOTD and Sonic aren't specified to any console.

I don't know...I went twice, she pretty much said the exact same thing...it's all scripted I think. Ya I really wanted to see it one last time just before E3 ended, the last show...so I could probably stay behind and talk to her...and oh she is so cute...cutest girl in the show, imo...

Correct, although at every presentation, she said "they (the demos) are coming sooner than you might think". X360 BITCHES!!!!!! :lol

Well I did ask the Sega Japan dude manning the controller directly the first time, and he said "So sorry... Cannot say."

I'm pretty sure Afterburner, VF and House of the Dead are arcade titles running on their new PowerVR based board. Sonic might be Xbox360 though, and maybe eventually the rest will be ported.

One kit was doing realtime (as in infront of everyone with a controller) demo, so if one's running off of a X360 kit, then so are the rest, and same would be true if it was the next PVR arcade board kit.

Personally, I feel that the PVR arcade board is right now only vaporware, and until we hear more concrete stuff from Img Tech, I'm going to treat it like such. IMO, it had a better chance of being a PS3 dev kit than PVR next kit.

I honestly think a PVR dev kit was more likely...but then I'm hopeful of seeing this sucker show it's face by the end of the summer. In a lot of ways it'd be similiar to the introduction of Naomi (a couple months before the release of the Dreamcast) and Naomi 2 (a couple months before PS2's release). And the PVR hardware would provide the perfect canvas for Sega and it's related developers to test things out, in preparation for the new consoles (which I imagine will all be more powerful).

But, we'll see...there's mixed rumours that Naomi 3 could show it's face as soon as this week in Japan, which would certainly justify the "sooner then you think" line.

BTW, anyone get any pics of that Sega chick? She sure sounded cute. :lol
