They're both awesome, just pick one. I went through CT about a month ago for the first time, I adored it. Took me about 20 hours or so I think (maybe 25? not sure). FF6 is also great, most people will probably recommend it over CT, but they're both great.

In before Dragona and her frequent use of "the F word" :P

EDIT: I think this thread was done very recently.

I don't get it, why can't you decide on your own? It's not like the game's storylines are related or anything.

Flip a coin or something.

wow this is sure to be heated, both are two of the greatest RPGs ever. But I'd throw my lot with FF3. I'd start from the beginning though.

I say CT first because it's much shorter overall. You can add to it's length through the frequent playthroughs for the multiple endings. For me I went for the complete full ending the first playthough in CT.

If you're a story freak, go for CT first. Many people complain about the second half of 6's (which I find vastly superior to the in-a-straight-line first half; go variety) lack of a story.

If that doesn't matter, go with CT first anyway..it's shorter, and you can get into FF6 quicker too.

Chrono Trigger cause it's short as hell

Final Fantasy 3 is like 30+ hours, Chrono Trigger can be finished in 10-20 hours

If you're 10 hours into CT, you might as well keep hammering away at that because it shouldn't take much more to finish it. FF 6 on the other hand will take quite a bit more time so just play it once you finish CT.

Think I'ma just beat CT simple fact being like many have stated its about a 20-25hr game.. Seeing as I'm already 10hrs deep I should finish in a few days. But yeah I've been getting into CT more then FF6, think it has to do with the battle system and the characters in CT... But FF6 is definitly a great game! Thanks for all the responses!!! :D

Play FF3 first. You will get to the last boss and realize you need to lvl up about 10 more times to beat him. Quit and then go play CT.

Telling you right now, cause I know everything!!!

Finish CT then hit up FF3. Both are fantastic, but that's the way you're gonna do it, ya hear?!?!?! :D :D

heh, i just started playing ct for the first time too. i'm probably 10-15 hours in as well and the way the story was heading it seems i'm somehwat near the end, but i figured there had to be a twist or something, as i had no idea it was that short...

Well it does have multiple endings, beating it nets you a New Game + option to start the game with all you stats and items earned.

It's been awhile since I've played it. If you're at about where I think you're at, then you've still got the plot twist you were planning on... I'll use spoiler tags.

Chrono Trigger! Best rpg ever!

FF6.
I could never get into CT, it just felt boring to me after finishing FF6.
(Which I then played again.)

To me CT sucks.

finish CT first that's good warm up to prepare you for the greatness that is FF6.

In regards to mario rpg for snes, man that game was rad. Beat a few times already though.. Again what agreat game blows the others out the water(other marios with the word rpg in them that is...)

After you finish them play FFIV, FFV, Terranigma, Earthbound, and Super Mario RPG.

There's not another Mario game with "RPG" in it

Well, PM2 was called "Paper Mario RPG" in Japan.

Well the other rpgs with Mario in it... Playing Chrono Trigger tomorrow! w00t, was going to today but got caught up watching One Piece (on ep. 90)

I never really "got" CT.

The music was great. the graphics were great.

the battle system was fun, yet unbalanced.

and the story absolutely sucked (and was nonexistant).

As I was playing the game, it felt to me that the devs wanted the story to be the center of the game, and especially the characters. They failed MISERABLY at doing that.

it was a good game, but not this "OMG BEST GAME EVER" quality that its often spoken of as.

Just like FFVII (and similar to FFVI)

FFIV, V, and Super Mario RPG are much better offerings from Square for the SNES than CT and VI.
