That looks amazing!

how do I resolve the issue of not having enough goods to sell? It seems to make everyone abandon buildings. VERY BAD!

Check your road connections and their traffic from the region to the problematic commercial areas if your city's industry doesn't really support the commerce in your city; check the connections between the city's industry and commerce instead if you have plenty of industry.

My current problem is educated citizens

EDUCATE FASTER, YOU JERKS

also I want to make a university campus. This building is tiny!

I wonder if it's possible to create ploppable buildings like the Flatiron Building in New York City, or the Shibuya 109 in Shibuya, Tokyo. You know, with roads running alongside it at an angle.

Hmmm... I wonder if my Macbook Pro can't handle my city anymore. Shortly after I reached 42,000, it would slow down to a few frames a second. All settings or low, shadows off.

Specs

Late 2011 model.
2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB

I guess you can make it so that the building model overhangs the lot, like it was done in Simcity 4.

Your city is gorgeous sir. Dat 8 way roundabout is divine.

has this been posted before? if no, then this guy Drushkey is a traffic engineer in Canada and posted his amazing city with tutorial of traffic flow. if this is old then ignore.

Thanks for sharing. Not only did reading that improve my future cities public transit and road systems but I think but that guide has enriched my life with a whole new understanding of civil engineering. I will never look at a bus or residential street the same way again. I need to buy my fellow Canuck Drushkey a beer if I ever run into him.

Is anyone getting weird lag when trying to use the mousewheel button 3 to spin the camera around? Might be the sunshaft mod. I might disable it unless i'm getting photos.

It controls the depth of field effect when you zoom in on things. I usually turn it off unless i'm taking city porn shots.

Although it has other uses in photography, here it's basically a way to make things look miniature sized. Like you're God looking down on your tiny civilization.

Left one more unique building to unlock that is the 10k sq ft industrial zoning. This will take a while for me.

I only use the SSAO and Post Processing mod for visual enhancement which still runs smoothly. As you said, might be the sunshaft mod.

They haven't patched since they introduced one-way road reverse right? Is the growables limit bug still in play?

/edit oh shit! I just found a 'fire spreads' mod. This gonna be gud

Yes it is :(

I know CO have a lot to work on with traffic pathing, fixing the plopable icons, mac workshop asset issues, etc. but imo this is the biggest thing they need to fix. I need to see all the growables in my cities. 8 of each type and size just doesn't give enough variety. I'm not even sure its actually 8...

I was reading a thread on paradox that said there may be buildings and color varieties from CS vanilla that some of us may not have seen because of the growables limit.

I can't wait. I have some Chinese and Japanese low density commercial assets i've been saving.I'm hoping to make a Little Tokyo/Chinatown with a SimCity 4 styled make buildings historical landmarks mod in the near future. Plus all the great looking custom growables towers appearing on the workshop make the wait even harder. I feel like a kid waiting to open his presents on Christmas.

Honestly it feels like half my time playing games is now spent waiting for mods so that in the future my time playing games will be even better!

...and then when the mods are released I go into wait mode on a hotfix or other assets or something

PC GAMING \o/

All of my plans to binge-game on C:SL this past week have been utterly quashed by grown-up responsibilities (adult banalities). Go away household repairs. A pox on you family calamities. Been hoping to complete the Export 50-year Challenge Game from Rentahamster's thread, but I've barely reached 20 years so far. Sucks. I can say one thing with authority: this is not a game that lends itself well to playing in half-hour bursts; way too much "okay, so what the hell was I focusing on last time?", not enough capacity for satisfying project conclusions. My Skylining time will most definitely take a further major hit once Pillars comes out too (albeit this being among the most welcome of malfortunes). What I'd give for a Teenager's Weekend right about now.

I think it's awesome that you're taking a stab at it :)

For everyone else, due to some feedback I've received, I've extended the deadline until next month, so that people can get the new game jitters out of their systems first before they opt into other activities. You can win a free game!

If you build the roundabout with a cross in the middle while you put in the spokes, it'll keep its shape better.

It's deliberately not a circle - the parts that go from the 4-lane road are straight roads at 45 degrees. The "side" parts are the only curved roads. This gives it an "eye" shape, rather than a pure circle. You can see the 90 degree corner on the top right of the island in that pic.

This allows the traffic on the 4-lane roads to enter/exit the roundabout at greater speeds.

I see your skills go far beyond Minecraft ;)

What takes weeks in minecraft takes minutes in CSL :D

so in a completely unanticipated problem with the fire propagation mod it turns out firetrucks don't prioritise geographically close fires, but seem to prioritise based on the order the fires come in

even if the next fire is right next to the one they just finished extinguishing

i anticipate my entire city burning down sometime tonight. Should be good.

Anybody had any problems loading games since the last update? My game just sticks on the loading screen with the chirper spinning round?

You shouldn't own a 2500k and not overclock it. Not only is it simple to accomplish, but the performance gains are quite significant.
Mine is running at 4.5

An i7 would actually be huge for this game due to the hyper threading.

Yeah, my 2500k is also at 4.5GHz, pretty much took no effort compared to my past CPU to OC.

Yeah it didn't boot at all. My PSU is probably the issue here. Oh well. Thinking about upgrading soon anyway :D

What's your PSU and mobo? If it's prebuilt it's probably the mobo. A 500MHz OC with these CPUs is pretty much nothing.

so i probably need to figure out a better industrial highway offshoot, because the roundabout has some fucking thing where all my traffic stops to let traffic turn in because I can't figure out the traffic logic and it backs up like half a tile

oh and uh when a fire engine stops in the middle of the street the entire district basically shuts down

I'll screenshot my system when I get home. It seems to diffuse traffic very well.

is it just me or does the game look blurry in general? Not just aliasing but UI as well.

1440p fullscreen windows everything maxed with tilt shift turned to 0.
I'm at 1680x1050 and yeah, I find the UI to look a bit blurry, hard to read some of the text. Doesn't matter if I turn the ingame AA off.

Some progress in my terraforming town:

I would prefer not to use that many trees but the mountain textures are simply ugly. Especially when you have steep ones. But I'm very happy with the downtown area. The pavements turned out really good.

I tried making a city of one-way streets but it's impossible to get good service coverage. A crime-filled house could be right next to a police station but will never be visited by police because the car goes the opposite direction. I guess the second best thing to do is to just do it for the industrial section.

Woohoo my cloud saves issues have been fixed at work... I'll be able to play during my lunch.
Whereas my city is now large enough to bring my (once mighty) work PC to its knees :( If I try and do too much in quick succession, the whole computer locks up, with the Skylines music still tinkling along in the background. Only a hard reset fixes it.
