Is there a reason why he's coming into UFC?

Dude looks like an average joe.

Is he famous in the WWE world? Or am I just missing something and this is all a joke.

He's been
literally
the only good all-around entertaining entertainer in the WWE since Rock left in 2003. You could argue Edge but he was always a weak ass face.

Or lifting like at all.

Is that a Pepsi logo tatoo?

Yes, the story he tells is that a musician (I forget who) got a Coca Cola one with the reason being "Well, I like Coca Cola.", so he got a Pepsi as he liked Pepsi better. He also has a Cobra Commander one on the other arm, and the two tattoos were always tough for the video game/toy people to deal with.

I don't care about his body but he needs to bring back the long hair. It looked a lot cooler. Slicked back hair was always his worst most douchy look.

The angle and style of boot makes it looks like he is in fire emblem. Completely agree though, his long hair was pretty awesome, especially in the SES/Jesus stunt. Did WWE make him cut it, or was it something he wanted to do anyway?

He said he did it when they turned him heel because the slick back hair was more "heel-ish". Probably works better for MMA too unless you want to see him roll into the octagon in corn rows.

This is going to go sooo poorly for him. I mean once he gets past the jobbers they put up against him.

UFC is in a tough spot from that standpoint because Punk's debut is almost certainly going to be a Main Event or Co-Main Event headliner that they are going to try and sell PPVs on. So you can put him up against a complete amateur who is at the same level of MMA experience and run the risk of backlash from charging people for what will likely end up one of the worst main event matches in UFC history, or you can put him up against anyone with even a crumb of MMA experience and have him wipe the floor with Punk.

Guy is probably going to get his teeth kicked down his throat by a high kick. He's probably been in fights before, taken punches, but this is the elite level MMA organization. You never know though. Brock Lesnar made Frank Mir look amateur, choked out Shane Carwin, beat Randy Couture. But then facing Cain Velasquez and then Alistair Overeem and he turtled so quick when actually hit.

you've got it backwards. if anyone is getting their teeth kicked out, it's his opponent(s)

You have to remember that Lesnar was a physical freak, and was a div 1 wrestling champion in college. Punk is neither.

Some of you really have no clue what they are talking about. Judging someone by it's physique for his martial arts progress is idiotic at best. Martial Arts was created in the first place for people who didn't have the strenght to defend themselves, hence techniques overcoming strenght. It's also been shown numerous times in the UFC and every other organisations that exist, that just being built like a tank isn't enough to get you the win. Skinny, soft or fat fighters have been wrecking muscle heads in their own divisions for years.

Is it not known anyway that he will fight someone of similar caliber? Meaning one of almost no experience in MMA. CM Punk is pretty much there to only boost PPV sells and that's it.

Judging a book by it's cover demonstrate ignorance at it's best. And to be clear, I still don't think he's ready for a professional fight in the UFC, even if his opponent doesn't have a positive record or have less than 5 fights. The simple fact that his opponent must have been training in MMA much longer that he has is what will make the difference. I'm simply shocked over how people judge how someone is prepared from pictures.

I only got into WWE recently but I do have the network. I missed everything about this guy storyline-wise so I have no idea what eventually happened to him. What things should I watch on the network to get the gist of his story (and downfall in particular)?

Just watch the CM Punk doc. Best in the World. Enjoy his pipe bomb promo and never watch what happened after that. Unless you like grown men arguing over who sent Kevin Nash a text message.

I'll still watch the fight, as I'm sure a lot of people will. So UFC wins. I'd be surprised if UFC didn't book him up against someone they're entirely sure he'll beat.

He looks like he's gonna get his ass beat based on those pictures. Stance is shit. Just being honest.
I mean it's not the first time a former WWE wrestler lost to his first fight in the UFC. *cough Brock Lesner cough*

I'm sure that CM Punk is fully dedicated to training for his UFC debut with every waking hour and every bone in his body. Just now he is probably hard at work perfecting his K1-level striking, ADCC-level ground game while embarking on the ardous task of six months of sprawl training needed to be a champion. #believe #thetimeisnow #zipzap

He's cashing in on his name, which has crossover appeal with the MMA/wrestling audience that helped push the UFC to its peak with Brock Lesnar.

What he's doing is the same thing he bitched about in the WWE though.

The comparison to lesnar is awful. He's a fucking beast athlete and was a NCAA champion wrestler. He won the ufc title, but was still very raw and had awful health issues.

Im really interested in seeing who they are gonna pick to fight this dude. Its clearly not gonna be someone top level. Can Gabe Rudiger cut enough weight to make 185 these days?

hmmm.

well BJ was also never in terrific shredded shape no matter how hard he worked for a fight

And you could say Fedor, but we all know Fedor was just husky. There was serious muscle underneath! My point is... conditioning will carry you far, but CM Punk does not seem to have an Iron chin.

As much as I'd like to give Bork credit that his losses were due to diverticulitis, I'm not sure.

Burnout and disease played their part, but ego-centric training methods were the main causes of his losses.

I still give Brock a huge amount of respect for agreeing to fight dudes like Velasquez, Carwin, Overeem and Mir. He could have easily played this MMA game safe and just kept crushing the Min-Soo Kims of the world.

lol at people thinking you have to be super cut or hulk like to win a fight.

Also, there is no way they are feeding Punk anyone who even has a chance of beating him for his first match. My favorite thing about Punk being in UFC isn't even about him being in UFC or watching him fight, it's that i get to watch dozens of people eat crow on his first fight.

Who is going to be their opponent?
Probably a even more amateur, right?

With any luck both the UFC and CM Punk realise that this is a one-and-done thing just for ratings. And with that said they'll hire some young, extremely talented, guaranteed star with a 1-0 or 2-0 record to fight Punk. Then you're guaranteed either Punk winning, or that young guy getting over in the most visible possible way.

Or failing that just give me six months of sprawl and a free pass to an all-you-can-eat ham & egg buffet and I'll fight Punk.
