This thread is literally the GAF version of judging a book by its cover.

With that said, I honestly thought this was a joke thread when I saw the OP. He gonna die and I will pay to see it.

The cm punk book is old and out of shape. Yes, he's gonna die.

A preview of things to come

It all comes down to who can cause the most physical trauma to the other person first, right? I figure a fat guy who knows how to grapple and throw a proper punch would do better than someone fit who can't fight.

Thats crazy, the guy looks like he has zero athleticism, I know training for pro wrasslin' is supposed to be real tough so how can he look like that? I had more muscle than that before I ever stepped in a weight room lol

Even in his prime years in wrestling he was always known as a guy who overcame a distinct lack of pure athleticism. Of all the guys to make the leap to MMA from wrestling he seems like the oddest and unlikeliest.

Yeah and the guys who werent all that athletic in mma had trained martial arts for awhile, so I just can't imagine the type of fighter they will attempt to feed to him. Would be funny if he lost to the sacrificial lamb that the ufc sets him up with.

dont get the cm punk hate, i hope he does well in the ufc

He has this guy's build (who fought at featherweight briefly)

but none of the skill

if he fights at LHW or middleweight, he's going to be in for a rough time. he will be in for a rough time at any weight class, but he's at a huge size and athleticism disadvantage at those weightclasses.

when people mistake your body composition figures for that of a serving of pork rinds, you have no business being in the fight game. just look -- both are over 30% fat by mass and a mere 7% protein. plus one serving of CM Punk is over 50% of your recommended daily intake

Lmao I would say just about anybody has more skill than Cody McKenzie

Now that he's been mentioned, CM Punk vs. Cody McKenzie would be a winnable fight for Mr. Brooks. I'm sure that McKenzie will fight as long as you pay for his flight and give him a free pair of shorts.

Because he has no business getting singed by the UFC when he has had zero real fights. Anyone can get lucky in a fight, but expect CM Punk to get destroyed easily.

Someone like Brock Lesnar makes sense. He was an NCAA wrestling champ and he won a fight in MMA before getting signed to UFC.

CM Punk wouldn't even get past Cody.

Punk has a lot of what most low level fighters don't have....Money, I used to fight and trust me if he surrounded himself with high end trainers he will do fine until he hits mid card status.... (Of course this is if his chin isn't glass)

He doesn't have enough time. A year of training isn't going to do shit against people that have been training for years. He'll have to get lucky and hope he has knockout power and can catch someone.

I am not going to pretend I have any idea how Punk will do in his first fights. I hope he does well but I could see him dominate an opponent or tap out quickly. no clue.

Yikes. Never thought id see the day when I have better body than a pro fighter. He's gonna get slaughtered.
Heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez looks like an average chubby Hispanic but is wrecking everyone up.

Physique =/= Fighting Ability. GSP only lifted weights for aesthetics/marketability, he's been quoted saying that.

Look at Cheick Kongo. Dude is built like a God but goes down with the slightest tap to the jaw.

A year with high end black belt BJJ trainers is a lot of time. Punk isn't going to be standing with guys, not yet at least. It's going to be a hug fest until he finds an opening for hammer fist ground and pound or a sub.

I hope by some miracle or grace of god one of the Diaz brothers gets a fight with Punk, but you know, he's WAY too heavy for Punk. Punk can legit hit 145.

No it isn't. I've been training MMA since '96 and wrestled in school... he'll need more time -- I see how long it takes some that come into our gym. The best he can do is practice sub defense and learn to sprawl well so he's not taken down. He'll want to stand if he's to have a chance, since the ground game is the most difficult to master. He'll be put in submissions and he won't know what to do. A "hug fest" as you call it, will result in him being thrown to his back and fucked up.

Punk is fighting at 185 last I read.
