Colt mentioned how people who know Punk know how relatively simple he lives. Money can go a long way when your major expenditures are buying comic books and the occasional Blackhawks tickets.

I don't think he's in for the money; it's ego, the same ego who got him buried for never backing away from Freepaul Heytch. He acts like he doesn't care, but to see people in wresslegaf or anywhere calling him out for being a skinny fat ass or not a legit-looking maineventer bothers him. Considering he sounds quite full of himself when he talks about doing jiujitsu, maybe he actually thinks he can be a grappler.
 
Its all about money matches with this guy. He wont be any special ranked fighter.

Dana White already called Joe Silva in the morning to tell him to find him somebody with no hands to fight Brooks.
 
He might fight a can his first couple of fights, but people will want to see more, and he will get his ass kicked.

I wish him luck, I really do.

Though to be honest, UFC signing CM Punk is basically the equivalent of WCW making David Arquette their champion.
 
Will watch no doubt. MMA is a spectacle and so many MMA no name fighters are getting rustled over this. Sorry but nobody cares about you Joe Smith

There's no way he doesn't get his ass wrecked unless Uncle Dana pays a scrub to take a fall. He's too old and not the absolute freak of a human that Brock was.

But it's a great business move for both Dana and Punk.

Baby steps. I'm still waiting for tag team matches and a Mighty Mouse/Ronda Rousy super fight before the UFC goes full carny and has a royal rumble.
 
I don't get what's wrong with fighting cans when you're first starting out. You expect him to fight top 5 guys straight from the get-go? I don't get it.

They should just put him on a season of the ultimate fighter with a bunch of other noobs.
 
The best wrinkle in all of this is he's considering Roufusport because it's 90 minutes from his house.

They'll either be too afraid to get rough with him or he'll be greenlit by Cush.

He said he'd be willing to get a condo somewhere, I believe.

My honest opinion is that Roufusport would be a poor choice in many ways.

He needs someone who can easily identify his strengths and weaknesses as a fighter and give him the game plan to victory. That man is Sifu Greg Jackson. Coach Wink can hone his Kenpo blade into surgical steel.
 
I think Mr. Brooks will pick a camp that is filled with yes men. Much like Lesnar did.

Chances of him being able to take a punch are slim to none. Can you imagine this guy training in a place with killers like AKA? DC and Cain would make him reconsider this career path real fuckin quick.

At least with Lesnar the answer was yes half of the time.
 
Unless it's really not about the money (lol), he'll be limited by the deals offered by gyms to train him.

Normally they take a percentage of your purse, though it's likely he'd be able to negotiate something a bit different in this circumstance.

If he ends up making his own camp we'll know why.
 
I like Mr. Brooks. Hes a little too full of himself, but hey if he knows his worth, and its actually what he thinks it is, more power to him.

I will watch his fight which would make it the first one since Brock left. I think hes going to either get fed can's as many of you say, or he is going to get rocked bad, and never come back.

Maybe he needs a wake up call, knock him back down to earth a little.

I'm pretty sure Cm Punk knows he's probably going to get killed. So in that sense, I respect him for his bravery/stupidity, but more so for his money hustling abilities. Vince and now White got suckered.

Hasn't done too bad with the ladies either.

Punk has overachieved in life big time. Don't feel bad for him.
 
Guarantee they'll have him fight some cans where he can lay and pray his way to a split decision then retire. He'll be a huge draw for them.

Dana White always talking about how he doesn't want any freak show fights then pays James Toney more than Anderson Silva and signs Kimbo Slice.

What a joke but I look forward to his promos.
 
I don't think giving him a complete can is a great idea. He should just fight a bottom rung scrub with a decent name like Luke Barnatt or James Te Huna.
