Coca-Cola Is Bringing Surge Back - Selling Through Amazon

Got mine today. I was never big in to Surge and now I remember why. It kind of reminds of Mellow Yellow with a hint of Fresca. That's not to say it's bad, but.... the hype train derailed on this one.

Who wants 11 cans for 50 bucks?

And UPS tells me to fuck off, and then Amazon gives me my money back and tells me to fuck off.

I wonder how long it will take for this to be back in stock...

This is not a 90s drink - it was out from 2006-2007. And I never got to try it. :(

This was the main competitor for Surge, for me:

Josta won every time, honestly. Such a unique and amazing flavor.

Sounds like nobody else was a Hires root beer fan?

Anybody ever heard of a brief Surge/Josta contemporary soda called "Key the Dog"? It was around for about a year in my area, a light blue grape-flavored soda with some kind of bulldog mascot...

Wow haven't thought about Josta in a long time. Loved that one.

Josta, of all 90s sodas, deserves a comeback.

My Surge order still hasn't shipped. It's been pending since I ordered on day 1. Not even angry, I'd rather delay the pleasure than pay $10+ shipping per case.

Well, at least the guys on that truck got to drink some Surge.

I ordered three cases, can't stop drinking it.

Very refreshing, like a pleasant blend between squirt and mt dew. I mixed some with pineapple juice, amazing.

All three cases damaged in shipping though, one can actually drained.

I never understood why they don't just put Surge in their Coca-Cola freestyle machines?

That seems like a cheap and easy way to gauge demand.

When I was 12 I would walk to the local shop and buy a can of Surge and a Little Debbie Zebra Cake and enjoy it before rollerblading off tables and stairs.

Being a grown man now, I'm pretty sure that sugary combo would make me ill. *makes some coffee* Still have that bum knee from the bike stunt.

Ball's in your court Pepsi. Where's my Pepsi Blue!?

(I'll also settle for Summer Mix, although that'll probably have to wait until next year...)

Just looked it up. I guess it was Shasta cola?

EDIT: Yeah, and I remember looking at the bottom of the can from the top, and there being a picture of the character inside too. So that makes sense why the label says "look inside". Damn. For the longest time I thought this was fake, and my memory was messed up.
This! I want this now, I need it!
I remember getting the luigi and yoshi ones when I was a kid.

I don't drink regular soda anymore so this will probably taste super sweet, but I have to give it another try. It's been so long.

I do wonder how close the formula sticks to the original. "The same great taste" line could just be a tweaked Mello Yellow in a different can.

While they could obviously just do that, they do have the original formula sitting there and it's not like it contains hard to obtain or even unique ingredients.

It'd actually probably be more work to create a new tweaked version of mello yello that is close enough to the other formula to not tip off the die-hard fans than to just use the already existing formula.

It may have been discussed in this thread already, but why would they need to change the formula? Or, is it just because the Surge and Vault formulas different even though they tasted similar? I had always thought Surge had been pulled due to health issues. Just child rumors I guess.
