Sure have, but I wasn't going to assume that my experience is matching everyone else's.Edwood said:Have you even played COD4 Beta with anyone outside the office lately?
Pretty much. The new guys camp just as much, if not moreso, than the players who have been around for a while.Grecco said:Theres your answer.
raYne said:I had a FFA on Overgrown where the guy did nothing but camp the 2nd floor of the partly destroyed building near the wooden barn bridge. Everytime he killed someone he'd go "this is my house" over and over just to piss people off. Using a C4/shotgun combo he never came out of that spot unless he was killed. In which case, he'd run right back up there afterwards. If no one came up for a while, he'd just use the mounted gun in the window and either kill people or entice someone to go up there to get him.
Scott x 2 said:Camping is becoming a real problem, but the killcam, being able to shoot through walls, airstrikes do help balance it out at times. If you know were the guy is wether it be the killcam or UAV and hes campin a corner, just spray at the wall, works a treat sometimes.
Have to agree, same has happened here alot of times, part of the game i guess.Assembly Required said:Admittedly, "Deep Impact" has saved my arse a lot of times, especially when I'm blind firing after being flashed or stunned.
Grecco said:One of the buildings in overgrown with the shelves. I can gaurantee you someone will be camping there. Its happened virtually in every game.
That's amateur hour camping. My fav (lolz) camping witnessed was fuckers that go on top of various rooftops and go prone in a way that not even their snipe rifles stick out. If you don't play with snipies to conuteract, you are pretty well fucked.Grecco said:One of the buildings in overgrown with the shelves. I can gaurantee you someone will be camping there. Attic and the shelve in overgrown, blue building and the 3 floor building in crash. ect ect. I have a route of hotspots i visit to see if theres people and go on to the next place
What pisses me off though are spawn campers. Ive seen people stay infront of the spawn points in vacant for entire matches just to spawn kill
Sol.. said:where do they go to spawn kill? Spawns are fairly dynamic. Now if you mean they stay in popular spawn areas...that seems fine to me, spawns are fairly dynamic lol.

Edwood said:You make the floors nice and squeaky clean, I see, camper.
CitizenCope said:My 100" screen helps me find 'em real easy.:lol
That's where I usually get my first kill then MOVE is what I meant. I actually use it every time to PREVENT campers on that 3rd floor.
As others have said I still don't run into campers. Is it because I am one my self?NO!
But there are so many dummies running through the middle of Crash of course I'm going to crouch down and pick off some easy prey.
I play 99% TDM and 100% of the time my teams have had no issues with campers. Personally once I hear our teams UAV go up I check the map and head to where 3-4 of the enemies are at.![]()
If you want run and gun I suggest the Unreal Tournament series and it's ridiculously speedy characters. COD4 would play stupid that way.
Find an area kill an enemy or two and move on. You can't be scoring well if you are pushing forward on the left thumbstick the entire time.
Yup. Camping on it looks amazing!Sol.. said:me want..me want so bad. What do ya use? a projector?
Insaniac said:As of now, I find the M4 a bit overpowered, and also the auto sniper rifle is a bit... iffy. Also, the ACOG, i haven't found a decent use for this, the Red Dot is superior for most guns in almost any given situation, and who would trade increased range but decreased accuracy?
Rayme said:(...oh man. Actually, a 3-on-3 snipers-only game on Overgrown would be tense as hell. Yum.)http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2002/04/22

I've finally started to get the hang it, so yeah. Just looking for a few good matches.
Naw. Laying on the ground waiting won't get you very far. The (smart and) aggressive team is likely going to come out on top. That's the key on the small-scale matches; moving carefully, communicating, flanking, etc.Deputy Moonman said:Do you know how utterly boring that game would be? There would be 6 different people all laying on the ground somewhere waiting for one of the other snipers to move.
It discourages moving-without-thinking. Even on the high-speed games (Domination, TDM), the players who place themselves and move with skill are going to have a big advantage. That's why you'll hear comments like CitizenCope's; someone running through a big open area without having a handle on the situation are more-likely to get shot in their silly, silly head. The problem with the game is that if you actually decide to move around, you're going to die. There are too many random spawns, combined with the people who just hide in a corner.

This game downright encourages people to not move.
I can see this being a complaint in the Hardcore ("realistic damage") playlists, but I don't think those have been seen in the Beta. And anyone who chooses to play in a Hardcore mode shouldn't be complaining about quick deaths. =)And since COD4 doesn't have a health system that allows you to return fire when you get shot (you just die immediately), what's the point of even trying?

Now I'm not saying that everyone camps, but the gameplay is not an improvement over the previous Call of Duty games. It's the same system packaged with nicer graphics and some new abilities.
Yea, I move around CONSTANTLY, and I do fine.Okin said:That's not a problem with the game. That's a problem with you being weaksauce. I can move very well on any map, and am consistently coming out with scores of 17 kills and 9 deaths.
