The GAF beta clan will likely lose a soldier soon (RIP Spooky) and will be holding tryouts in the very near future. Keep in touch.

There will not likely be any sign ups for the tryouts but it will be on a first come first serve basis. Any candidates deemed worthy by myself and other high ranking officers in the beta clan will be put into what I call a "lottery" and emails will subsequently be dispatched within 24 hours to let you know if you made it in the clan. If you do not make it in in the first wave, fear not, as we often time need substitutes due to people being taken out with gunshot / shrapnel wounds.

Quick funny story: months-and-months ago, we're all doing our nightly MP games, and I figure, hey, I'll give the G3 a try. And I start OWNING with it, which is kind of odd, because I'm definitely not one of our top guys, but whatever, not complaining. So we go and check the damage profiles for the G3, and... spot a typo. Upper-body shots with the G3 were doing, like, twice the damage of a headshot that day.

No. It's more like, follow through on your shots and make sure the guy is dead. If I'm not mistaken, the person who takes you out in Last Stand only gets the assist, not the full kill. The original person gets the full kill. I've noticed people actually making sure people are dead now as they learn to deal with Last Stand. I also haven't seen anyone get pissed off cuz of it.

Wrong. I just had a guy go down last stand on me, teammate finished him and I only got 2 points for it.

I'm pretty sure the original kill gets the full 10. Do you think it's possible someone else got the kill registered to them first but you didn't realize it?

No, if you shoot the person in Last Stand mode you get the full kill count. The person who downed them only gets an assist.

What I don't know, is the points you get for downing someone and not killing them before they suicide. I suppose you'd still get assist points.

Welp, I guess I'm wrong then. I'll try again cuz I swore it was the other way around. Maybe IW should change that so that the initial kill gets the 10 and the Last Stand gets 2. At any rate, follow up on your kills. I see more people doing that now to make sure they're dead.

I should be the one to choose my replacement. And I choose Hitler Stole My Potato. But untill then I will keep on towelin my 360 to life.

I think it'd be better if the initial kill gets the 10. Makes more sense to me.

I agree with your second point - I always try to put a few more rounds into people when they go down because lots of people use last stand.

Great games last night with you, Joates, Gek and others. I hated that other team that I got on as we were playing you all. They have stupid formations and other shit, it was easy to see why they died so much. I shouldn't have had to lift my teammates for 5 straight games but we won those, so I guess it worked out. However, when the servers weren't acting dumb, the GAF clan was running shit. Seriously, we were basically unstoppable. Games go up to 750 points and we were winning by an average margin of 300. Owning shit to the nth degree indeed.

The funniest thing about it is, we werent even that organized... If we actually used some strategy and planning we would wipe the floor with the other team.

As for Spooka's demands... I dont typically negotiate with Tango's, but despite that, once pocketfudge gets the beta, I may make an executive order to have him placed among the ranks (no higher than his current Chromehounds rank of course).
 
Well, I got in last night, and played about 5 rounds of team deathmatch. I dunno, I'm not really feeling it. I've played this same game 100 times before at this point. It seems like the HL2 mod Insurgency does a better job at what this game is trying to do.

Don't get me wrong, it looks fantastic, and is very solid. I can't wait to play the single player campaign. It's just that the multi feels... generic. I'm going to rank up a bit more and see how the perks start effecting the game for me. Is the game mode other than TDM/DM more compelling? I can't remember the name of it.

Maybe coming from the Battlefield series, and most recently Warhawk and Quake Wars, where there is a huge battle occuring and so many awesome roles to play, I'm just done with vanilla deathmatch games.

Further review may be needed ;)

Unfortunately, as our squads ranking CO, it is my job to fill the roster each night, many able GAFfers may not make the cut due to high demand for spots and other variety of reasons... Yours and others' time to shine will come soldier, and when that opportunity comes, be sure to cover my ass (preferably in a cover-2 or flank-2:3 formation) and you will have a much greater chance of landing a more permanent spot in the squad.

I used to pride myself on a much higher accuracy, but lately I've been laying down a lot of support fire (down hallways in Vacant in S&D, repel attackers on Crash in Domination, etc.). Also a little upset at my drop below a 2.00 K/D ratio :(

The only games I'll play DM in are Quake and Unreal. Games like COD, Vegas etc were made for team oriented stuff IMO but I know some people are still into the whole DM stuff.
 
Well I have been following this thread throughout its lifetime, the ups and downs. I just never posted because I felt everyone else captured what I was feeling better.

I wanted to let anyone that wanted to know that I registered at 8:30pm PST for the beta and got in just now at 3:36pm PST. If anyone wants to add me to their FL my GT is thechapel.

Thanks IW, cant wait to play this, will give me something to play until Halo 3 comes out!
 
I registered on Monday at 10:30pm EST, hopefully I get an email within the next 3 hours. My cousin just got it and he registered on Monday at 1015pm EST. Glad everyone is enjoying it.
