COD 4 Beta Thread

So about the DL cheat way into beta. All you seriously have to do is let someone recover gamertag>DL history>Download again and they can play it on their gamertag?

Or is it person who doesn't have it send you there gamertag and what?
 
Thanks to all the GAF guys I played tonight, we had some awesome fun. For some reason I got disconnected from Live half-way through a match so decided to call it a night with a couple of games of Mutant Storm.

Well Actually you have to recover gamertag>DL history>press guide button on second xbox controller>use first controller to select your gamertag>then you should be signed in your own account with the download history window up>Download again.

That might be a crappy explanation though...

But i'm in because of it.

Well, I finally got the dreaded DGS for the first time. I'm trying to shake the damn thing, but nothing seems to be working. I restarted the Beta a couple of times, then the console itself, and then just let it sit for twenty minutes while I watched the FSU-Clemson game. DAMN IT.

I use the shotty with a grip, deep impact and last stand. Works pretty well on these small maps.
 
anybody know if waiting out the downloading settings message helps?

I've restarted several times and i can't shake it like i used to.

Oh my god. Grenade launchers are the most horribly unbalanced thing ever. JESUS. That and the guys we're playing against are all just ridiculously good. Wow.

The levels don't really end up meaning a whole lot, since its so easy to advance. You did really well though, so take that as you will.

We sort of got screwed after armubaba and Eric WK got DSG'd, though, even though some people ended up joining halfway through the game.

True. 3 against 6 isn't exactly the fairest thing, especially when they're as good as these guys were.

Of course, we were jinxed after all the times you said you were scared of the party dropping everyone....and then of course it happens. That's a huge issue, something that really needs to be fixed.
 
Good games tonight, sorry to the people I wasn't responding to on your invites, was already in a good set of games.

By the way, incase anyone doesn't know...if you're getting the "downloading game settings" screen you can still get into a game by joining a person who is currently playing or getting them to send you an invite. Once you're in the server, as soon as you're in spectator mode hit the "back" button. This will bring you to the class select. If you don't hit the back button you'll go back into the "downloading game settings" screen and won't be able to do anything.
 
At the very least, I just want to know the story behind why so many people don't have their beta token yet. I know it is free and everything, but I have seriously not checked my email more times in my life than in this past week.

They're rolling it out slowly so they can see how the infrastructure for online play holds up. The game does have some very serious bugs in the netcode, so it's probably for the best. If everyone were in at the same time it would be awful I'd bet.
 
So everytime you recover a gamertag on a 360 you have to recover it on original again? Cant have your gamertag on two 360s at once?

I love your game to death. However, this DOWNLOADING GAME SETTINGS thingamajig is making it very, very hard to PLAY the friggin' thing. Some of us just want to jump in, play, and go outside or something after a few games.

Just saying.

No, you're not. I've gotten off xbla because of it. I'm now going to go get some Taco Bell, try and see if it works again, probably have it fail, then play some Metroid.
 
No, I've been getting it all night, havent been able to play in hours, and its really fucking annoying. There aren't any known fixes or anything right?
 
Was able to get a few games in somehow...had a lot of fun even though I was getting owned terribly. Hopefully it's working a little better tomorrow night.
 
I've been getting the download game settings thing all damn day, and it never seems to download whatever the fuck it is supposed to, to let me play.
 
I got the DGS screen twice today. The only way to get rid of it and not have to worry about it for a while is to seriously just be patient and let it sit there for a while. After about 10 minutes or so, it will finish doing whatever it is it does, and then you can be on your merry way. Just gotta be patient...

If by "fucked" you mean I'm able to get back to playing the Beta...then I hope they fuck my system silly buddy.

Or you could just unplug the battery in your controller so you get the "reconnect controller" message and then do so. That'll work.

For what's it's worth the current netcode for COD4 is 100 times better then Gears currently. Shit I can even kill people with my disgusting ping.
 
Glitched into COD 4 Beta? Be warned, MS is banning

Gamers are now confirming that Infinity Ward and Microsoft are banning people who glitched unto the COD 4 beta. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, right guys?

Is it still possible to see (not play online) the game in this way. I mean create a server and go around just to test the engine of the game and the feeling with weapons?
