COD 4 Beta Thread

To any IW people reading this....

Pretty sure I just found a bug. I don't know the exact steps to replicate it, but here's sorta how I got it to come up. First I attempted to party up, and bring a friend into my game. No response, so I then decided to go into the barracks and browse the challenges. Poked around there for a little bit, then went to go find a game and I got this screen-

I let it sit for a couple minutes to see if it really was downloading something, but nothing happened. I could hit b and get back out, but everytime I tried to find a game the screen popped up. I haven't tried to replicate it due to the fact that I just wanna play this thing... but it happened, somehow. Restarting seemed to fix it just fine.

Edit- Oh shit, other people seemt o have had this happen too.

I F5'd at the right time and the webpage loaded, I'm going through the beta signup right now. Also it's not first come first serve anymore, they're picking randomly after 24hours.

Ugh, I found out like a minute after it went up and now it's going slow again. Peh.

It loaded, but it fucking asks for Birthdate AGAIN, what the hell?

So of course, after I put in the info and click OK, it's lags out again.
I'm guessing by the time I get it to load again, I'll have to put in birthdate again.

The cycle never ends.

I just want to help beta this amazing game.

Within 72hours, they're rolling out the beta keys in waves in order to not fuck over XBL.

They had already said that they would be doling them out over time to lessen server load.

Just talked about that on the last page. Just quit the BETA or restart your 360. If that doesn't work give it a half hour break.
 
It might be better to just wait and sign up for this later. It's not first come first serve so it doesn't matter when you sign up, as long as it's within 24hours of now.

I'm stuck on the last part of the signup, if it doesn't go through I'll do this tomorrow after work.

It was funny reading through the five pages of non-stop bitching when the Web site went down. I must admit, I got a few laughs out of some of the responses. It's like:

"Yay! Call of Duty 4 Beta in less than 30 mins!"
"Wait, why isn't the Web site loading?"
"HIT F5 BITCHES!"
"THE WEB SITE CRASHED! WHAT THE FUCK? FUCK YOU IW!"

I called it last week saying the first-come-first-serve would be a clusterfuck. At least Infinity Ward is owning up to it and trying to fix things. Hope to see some of you guys on in the next couple of days.

Same, I put in my usertag and email and it doesn't load. Semi back to Bioshock..Fort Frolic, *shudders*
 
wtf. i just checked like 30 minutes ago at my brothers and got the maintenance message, i come home, check this thread, people say they've registered. great. i check the site and it's dead again. seriously, is someone running this server off their cell phone?

Just signed up for good. Finally. Page went uber fast out of nowhere.. it's on and off.

So Great. Now we have to wait 24 hours. Then within 72 hours to see if we get in!
 
Stop panicking people, it's not first come first serve anymore. Just make sure to register in the next 24h and you'll have an equal shot as anyone else of getting into the Beta.
 
Okay well I just tried to reload the page just in case and it gave me the "thank you for your entry" thing again so I guess that means they got it.
 
bleh, I don't think mine went through. I'll keep trying for a little bit, otherwise I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow after work. If the site is still messed up, then I don't know what to say...
 
Ok. Somehow made it in through the sluggish site and managed to sign up. God willing, I get in, but, if I really have to, I'm going to preorder from Gamestop to get a code.

I'm a consumer whore and I need this Beta. :(

Wait, if you pre-order the game you get a beta key? If so I'd rather just do that, I'm getting the game regardless.
 
I got in and signed up no problem about 25 min ago, shocked, I still highly doubt ill be selected, i never am for this stuff. Whats that someone said about preorder beta key??? Is there any truth to that?

That's what I'm assuming, considering the fact that IW said they'd be "partenering with Gamestop" for more oppurtunities to get into the Beta.


From earlier today:
Although Charlie Oscar Delta's Token Codes have been reserved, there will be many more opportunities to get into the Beta! Check back into SITREP often, as we'll be updating the site with information as soon as it's finalized.

In the United States and Canada, we are working with GameSpot and GameStop on two new ways to reserve a spot in the Beta. Our International users will be excited to learn that plans to get into the Beta are moving along quickly, and we'll have updates for all the countries listed in the FAQ soon!

edit: oh damn. pay to get in a beta again? hmm. i really hate reserving games that i know won't be sold out day one.
 
I hit submit then got an error screen.

Hit F5 and after 5 minutes got the "THANK YOU FOR YOUR ENTRY" screen. Did I get thru?

I'm afraid to leave the confirmation(if it is) page.
