Great |OT| I'm still at the beginning (just got Mia) but I'm really liking it so far.

It still feels weird to see a full fledged story with cutscenes on a Dark Souls game lol but I like the pacing of it, I still have yet to try Online but I heard the Depth dungeons are hard enough to justify the help so I may try it there.

And now a pic of my dude chilling on the sofa with Io :messenger_smiling_hearts: on the background.

Hopefully my copy will arrive on Monday.

Btw does anyone know why i can't align my post in the center? When i hit "align in center" only the first image moves to the center.:pie_thinking: Also how do i put an |OT| tag in the title?

Reached the ice area. Really digging it so far. Think my only major complaints so far are invasions, and the previous area went on way too long.

I've been using Yakumo as my party member and damn he just rips through enemies like they are nothing and he can take a lot of damage on top, I guess he's supposed to be a sort of Tank but damn the guy is a beast he almost soloed the Dancer boss without my help lol, is this guy supposed to be the Havel/Iron Tarkus of Code Vein?

I was thinking of using Mia for the whole game but her AI is kinda lacking compared to Yakumo's she's much more passive and Yakumo just goes Rambo on everything.

I think Namco missed a huge opportunity to appeal to the Souls PvP community who are the type of people who will continue to play and talk about your game long after they finish the SP and bring new people to the game. I can imagine that NPC invasions will be getting old and boring soon enough but player invasions would have added some nice variety and unpredictability in gameplay. I wonder if it's possible to add it later?

It's mostly SP but it also has a coop option if you want it.
Thanks. I think that’s why I was hesitant to buy it, I thought it was closer to God Eater for some reason which is a series I like but don’t love. The fact that it is single player makes me much more interested. Will pick it up in the next couple of days, I’ll have to decide PS4 or Steam?

Invasions aren't like Souls, they're horde waves.

You mean they aren't NPC invaders that appear out of nowhere? That was my impression from what i heard from other people.
No, you get you're being invaded message like Souls, but it's a horde wave of enemies, generally respawning wave of 2 weaker normal enemies + 1 higher tier enemy of the enemies of the area you're in, and once you killed enough of the wave the final enemy will be the strongest normal enemy of that area. Personally think they should be limited to co-op as is, some are way harder than the actual area boss. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Yakumo and IO are the MvP of partners.

Excellent OT! Loving it so far. I've been using Yakumo for the most part, and he's been great but let me down twice. Once he was slow to respond to a foe rushing us, and the second he watched me get jump smashed twice in a row and get knocked off a ledge. It was funny though. I like all the little things they say when exploring, makes the journey more personal. Kind of like Dragon's Dogma npc's but not so repetitively annoying LOL. My desire to explore is bugging me though, do I carry on with the early main quest or go explore a side area I found?

Very pretty overall with nice effects and boss design, I also like the story bits that make it different to others in the genre.

Are you talking about the big hole on City Ruins that leads to the Blighttown of Code Vein? if so I do recommend you do that first, you'll get Mia and Yakumo's Blood Code.

Game is enjoyable. My biggest complaint so far is the difficulty, the game so far has been incredibly simple for me. I'm up to the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood (which is driving me bonkers walking around in circles trying to find where to go next) but I think the only way to have real difficulty is going to be to artificially inflate it. Your NPC team members are laughably overpowered. You can walk in circles on boss fights while they do the entire thing if you so choose. Cutscenes are frequent and long, the memories I'm glad I ended up finding I could skip them by pressing options twice.

I'm glad I got it but if you want something strictly because of combat and feeling of accomplishment from learning bosses like many souls games I am not really getting that from this. I just run through and mash square and kill everything easily with a few dodge rolls here and there.

If the game is too easy for you
why are you using npcs

I personally like those, it's a nice change compared to From Software leaving everything to the imagination in their games, actually Code Vein is really making me want a Dark Souls with cutscenes but I know it won't happen, Miyazaki hates cutscenes and he runs the place over there.

But I agree with you on the cathedral what the hell was that level design about, was that supposed to be the Sen's Fortress/Anor Londo of Code Vein lol.

Like I said, self imposed difficulty. I will never do that. Using every system a game has put in place to my advantage is how I have played and will play every game ever.
That is just being fastidious. I honestly think the game is meant to be played alone.

I was wondering if we know this yet :

How is the world connected in the game ? Is it linear ? Or is there room to explore in various order ?

The first Dark Souls can actually be played in the reverse order from the very beginning of the game, by taking the lockpit. This would be awesome if it was the case here.
You have to teleport back to the main area where you first started for the second part but after that I just kept going forward no idea if you can do it any other way. (I'm sure you can't?) It isn't as "free" as DS but it does have levels they ripped off or based from it. ONCE I FINISH IT I'll edit this I'm sure. :/

You know I planned on buying this today after work since IndieGala still has it for 32% off. Error message after error message telling me to contact support. No anime tiddies for me.

I'm just leaving this as a heads up for those still at early game, I just screwed myself from getting the good ending for this playthrough and I'll have to wait for New Game+

The guide has some minor spoilers.

BTW the story in this game is really surprising me, those guys at Shift really know how to make emotional stories, for now Code Vein has surpassed God Eater 1&3, let's see if it can surpass GE 2 as their best story.

Just got my refund today. This game is almost unplayable and I do not why.

First of most of the time it does not even start but crashes instantly after the first screen appears. Also the performance is for some reason terrible. I have a fairly decent PC with 32GB RAM and a 1080 but it struggles to get a constant framerate at 1080P. Sometimes it feels like 10 FPS while turning the camera.

Sadly this was pretty good for the hour I played it but the constant crashes are not acceptable.

Might be on your end...??

Played the demo and really liked it, but still a bit confused over what actually drops from enemies.

I saw the same few items drop over and over in the demo, same sword name etc. Are stats randomised or is there anything I can do of worth with the duplicates other than just selling them?

I do not know. I have seen several of these posts on the forum especially the crashes while starting the game.

But not running normal or decent in 1080P newest drivers with 32GB this should not cause problems with a game like this.

The fight against Ornstein and Smough was awesome, I actually had to use elemental buffs and change Yakumo with Io for the extra healing and I loved the music.

My copy arrives today from Target. I got it for $49.99 USD. I hope the game is a lot of fun.

I'm replaying DS2:SoFS and its a really good game to be honest. I know people have complained about it. Even back when it came out, the game is huge or at least it feels big. There's so many bosses and the SotFS made small changes that add up. Sure there's some criticisms. You have sometimes condensed areas and bosses that just appear. But in all honesty, its not that bad. The pacing and the slowness increase with stats IMO. Putting points to get agility to 99/100 is almost a must. I'm closing the game out now and I've had more fun with it now than I did when I first played it. I've also swapped out build mid-game because the DLC isn't for a faith based Cleric IMO.

Saying Code Vein is better than DS2 might be a good thing or it should be taken with a grain of salt. I personally liked DS2, even if its not exactly my most favorite Dark Souls title.
