Utd inquire about Baleba according to Ornstien. I doubt Brighton will let him go cheap byt this could be a very good window for Utd.

He'll cost a fortune and so with the purchases they've made so far I don't think it will be happening this summer. But it would be amazing if they could get him in at some point.

Garnacho + cash....

Hojlund, cash + 3 bags of Skittles.....

According to Jim Ratcliffe, Utd are fucking broke. Old Trafford is falling apart and they had to get rid of a lot staff.

They've already spent over 200 million this window (I'm aware these are all instalment buys), but bizarrely haven't spent the money on positions they really need, like some new midfielders, defenders and a new GK.

To be fair, they did need to shore up the attacking front. Hojlund is ass. I looked up his goal scoring record, and for a striker it's pretty poor. He has scored a total of 32 goals in his professional career.

At his one year at Atalanta, he scored 9 goals, and for some reason Utd thought this was worth paying over 70 million for him? He's been at Utd two years and scored 14 goals! I would say sell him, but who is going to want to buy him?

I'd say buying new attacking players was pretty important, we scored 42 goals last season. We relied Bruno far too much to get us draws. Attack, CM & GK I reckon were important, in that order. Yes Onana let a lot in but he also faced far too many shots. De Gea had his off seasons too.

Newcastle might want Hojlund, since they've lost pretty much everyone else. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

That's it pretty much confirmed as done then. By swapping out the entire forward line there's a lot of pressure on the three of them to deliver results. But creating and scoring goals was a huge problem last season so you'd hope that the only way is up. I know there will now be speculation about Holjund leaving but I'd like to see him kept on. One of the issues was he got brought in when there was basically no other backup strikers. so if Hojlund got sold that would leave Zirkzee, who isn't a traditional number 9, and Chido Obi, who has a lot of potential but is still very young. Beyond that, unless you shift Mbeumo or Cunha into the 9 and push Bruno back into one of the 10 roles, it would fall to Sesko to shoulder a lot of minutes, much like Hojlund had to. But maybe the finances will require Hojlund getting shifted on, especially with talk of them now looking for a midfielder.

Is baleba any good? Never heard of him.

Yeah sesko is pretty much close.

Only a gk and a midfielder now

Man if they get psg gk that would be amazing

Baleba is very good and young. If Utd manage to get him it will be a brilliant signing.

Utd so far have only gone for players who want to be at Utd so let's see how it plays out.

Good idea, I've already got a team so I can look into it and create a league for those who want to join it. I was in a league last season that had about 150, so I think we should be ok for numbers.

Do you have to download the app to play?

Great reception for Dave! After the shambles of his departure, I'm glad he got the appreciation & farewell that he deserved.

Stick that in your documentary.

Will Will Still still be there come the end of season?

Birmingham were robbed last night clueless referee who had to make it all about him - Ipswich no shot on target other than the dubious pen the ref gave on 94 mins.

The FA Community Shield kicks off in an hour. Liverpool Vs Crystal Palace.

Unfortunately it's been removed from free-to-air broadcast this year because TNT have bought the rights to it. :messenger_face_steam: So if you don't have TNT then it's either find a dodgy stream, listen on Radio 5 Live or read the online text updates:

Such a shame that more football has been removed from terrestrial TV in the UK, there's very little left.

Doesn't look like too many are interested in the Fantasy Football league. Check the info a few posts back if you've missed it.

The EPL season starts on FRIDAY.

I was just about to post my team here then I saw you have a mini league. I'm game, I play with my pub group every year.

To add some spice (if appropriate) I'll donate a digital sports game of choice to highest weekly score at the end of the season up to the value of £60 (as long as I don't get banned by then that is lol). With only 4 of us in the league currently gives everyone a decent shot to win.

We have a few days until the start the season to get some more numbers.

Are we allowed to make a official thread in the off topic forum? We might get more then (would also need to explain how it works to new players)

Think so. Go for it. Although try not to attract too many egg chasers looking to snag the prize.

I was going to suggest it may be time to create that thread in off-topic, but then I read clarky clarky post above and I prefer the current numbers for winning the prize. :messenger_tears_of_joy: But no, seriously, if people want to join then great.

Just to be clear the winner will be anyone who scores the highest game week score at any point during the season. We do this in our league it works well. Keeps you interested even if you are bottom of the league.

Use your bench boost's and TC's wisely gentlemen.

Hopefully no flukes from people who don't contribute or even like football but want a prize. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I'll create the off-topic thread now so people have enough time to get sorted before it kicks off on Friday. :messenger_sunglasses:

Quite excited for Wednesday. PSG will probably tear us apart, but there's always the hope of an upset.

Weird that we're also being linked with Savinho, doubt it will materialise. City would be stupid to let a young prospect like him go so soon.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people said the same when they faced Chelsea... you could argue that Chelsea are a better, well drilled machine but anything can happen in a final.

Did Arsenal ever get in talks with Eze? Reading today Tottenham are in talks with Palace for him. If Trossard really is leaving, we need to act quicker. Although Madueke made that left side very alive against Athletic, I still think we need to get more players

I think there was a rumour at the start of the transfer window but it went quiet. I wonder if they got Madueke instead? There's news that Spurs are looking at him.

Even after Madueke there were reports about Eze to Arsenal but first Arsenal are focused on the outgoings. Time will tell

I suppose it depends what happens with Trossard, they might not have the luxury of waiting though if Spurs are sniffing around. Could mean Martinelli is the only LW.

Okay now I don't much care for drama.. but why the fuck would PSG decide to drop Donnarumma out of the squad, being clearly one of the best GK you can have today?
That's pretty wild for sure, makes no sense at all.

He's not the kind of goalkeeper Enrique is looking for (preferring someone who is more comfortable with the ball at his feet) and apparently he didn't want to accept a new contract that fits within the wage structure PSG want to have going forward. So they've signed a replacement and are looking to move on from him.

I picked my squad, team name etc got an error saying cannot process this right now and its reset all the selections back to empty.

So fuck that, good luck to all who enter but not going through that rigmarole each time.

Yeah I read that, but that still sounds like nonsense reasoning to replace him, and then like PSG doesn't have the money to keep him lol. Anyway very weird and looks like some team's gonna have a bargain on their hands now.

Man Utd wanted a keeper who could play with his feet rather than an old fashioned shot stopper..... we got rid of De Gea and brought in Onana. Look how thats worked out. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Even though Donnarumma is one of the world's best goalkeepers I can get him not quite being a fit for Enrique. It's not always going to be about getting the best player in every position, it can be about how they work with the style you're looking to play.

But I think the wage structure is the bigger thing. PSG have finally had the European success they've been desperately chasing for years and it came after they moved away from having huge stars (Messi, Mbappe, Neymar etc.) on massive wages so I can get them prioritising a wage structure that's more clearly defined and incentive based. As far as making it seem like they don't have the money, that's also maybe not the worst thing. Everyone knowing you have money to throw around can mean other teams will look to gouge you when you come knocking to try and buy their players.

I get that people are feeling nostalgic about De Gea after the Fiorentina game and because Onana hasn't done well. And I've got a lot of fond memories of his time at United and wish him all the best. But it was time for United to move on from him when they did. His ability to play with his feet wasn't the only issue, he was really reluctant to come off of his line for stuff like claiming crosses and corners.

No matter how we spin it, it's a fucking goalkeeper who has basically one job and yes he is clearly one of the best at that and there are 10 other players to play ball, and imo it worked forever.
Money on the other hand.. okay still weird.
Anyway I just remember back in the RM was just shite when the galactico era ran it's course and it was more or less godly Casillas saving the day week after week. And the way I remember it wasn't him winning the games, just saving lots of very important points most of the time.

Onana is supposed to be a ball playing keeper and is crap at stopping the ball going into the net.

It looks as though they will have to plod on another year with him. It's also funny Trafford has gone back to City, and it looks like he is going to be stuck on the bench again.

So the season starts tomorrow for the Premier League, let's see some predictions. Top 6 and bottom 3 teams, FA Cup, Carabao cup & Champions League winners....
