michigan st at texas is a great game thus far

Michigan St. is throwing up some crazy layups that are all dropping. Are defense is doing nothing wrong, their shots are just better right now.

edit: damn the refs gave Pittman a foul just for being bigger. I'm used to it being a Rockets fan and watching Yao Ming get bullshit calls on him, but it still pisses me off.

edit 2: Okay, Texas is just putting together a highlight reel now. I said wow.

Hook em Horns! 11 point win over the spartans! That means the Longhorns have won every game by double digits this season. I wonder when the last time the Longhorns beat two top 10 teams back to back. Have we ever done that?

I don't know what happened, but Florida sucks again. We have some injuries to back ups, and we are not a very deep team, but we just lost to two mid-majors in a row with plenty of time to practice. Sucks us :(

UAB beats Butler.

I think the big unsung story of this year is how good the traditionally best non-BCS conferences: Atlantic 10, Conference USA, Mountain West, Horizon, West Coast, Missouri Valley, and Colonial all could get multiple bids this year with the first three looking to maybe get 3 bids.

Nebraska got a quality win today against a 1-loss Tulsa team. Also, the USC win looks a lot better after the Trojans beat Tennessee last week. Feeling a lot better about this year after having a lot of offseason injuries.

Cal hung around for awhile against Kansas but ultimately didn't have enough in the tank in the 2nd half. They played well for stretches. Good to have Robertson back after his injury layoff. There are still big concerns about Cal's lack of inside talent and depth in general. Hope some of the reserves can use this experience later in the season and pick up more minutes.

Well the Big 12 is freakin stacked this year. If I counted right, we are 13-2 against the Pac-10 and Aggy vs. Washington is going on right now. Either the Pac-10 is utterly terrible or the Big 12 is the best basketball conference in the nation right now. At the very least, the Big 12 is at least equal in strength with the ACC and Big East.

First tragedy, then farce.
Just got back from the Texas game.

Had a blast. Pittman got into foul trouble (some were BS in my drunk opinion), we shot like shit from the free throw line and our opponents shot lights out at the FT and TP line.. and we still won by 12.

We are fucking good. We should be number 1 at this point.

Also, I don't know if TV caught this at all, but there was a woman in the Michigan St ticket section that had an air horn. She set it off during a FT shot and the refs looked over to see who had it and the ENTIRE fucking UT section around her pointed right at her. It was hilarious. She got up and left, then the cops escorted her back to her seat.

There were also some REALLY dickish Michigan St fans sitting behind us that kept trying to pick fights. As we left I very loudly said to me dad "Double Bonus: we don't have to fly home to East Lansing". I thought one of them was going to hit me. Truth hurts I guess :lol

Big 12 might be, but I wouldnt judge it based on the Pac 10. They might be the 9th best conference in the NCAA this year. Not that the SEC is much better outside of UK and Ole Miss apparently.

Edit: I would agree that Texas should be #1 but they wont be. Kansas really has played no one. California is an NIT team and they struggled with them for 3/4 of the game. If I were to rank the Top 5 right now I go: Texas, Syracuse, Kentucky, Kansas, WVU.

If anyone is watching the UDub v Aggy game, I just saw the worse injury I've ever seen. Dudes fucking leg broke in half and was angled 90 degrees the wrong way. Bone sticking out and everything.

Tibula and Fibula.

Almost puked.

Leg injuries make me uncomfortable since the same thing happened to me while playing soccer last year. Broke both bones, didnt break the skin but they were going in a completely different direction. The most amazing part was I walking around normally 2 months later without crutches or a brace even though I do have a metal rod in my leg now.

Yea it was real bad. I was watching the game at a bar in Dallas and the whole bar just gasped when it happened. Guy's name is Derrick Roland, one of the top defenders in the Big XII and a senior. Such a shame. Huge loss for us.

Hopefully he can heal up for the NBA. I'm going to assume his college career is done.. hopefully it doesn't turn into a Prothro situation.

Yep I watched the game too. I turned away everytime they showed the replay because I'm pretty squeemish. Normally I would enjoy seeing aggies crying on the bench, but I do feel bad for this guy and their team having to watch a guy in immense pain go off the court.

Cal was missing Theo Robertson in all of its losses. He was only the nation's leading three point shooter last year and averages 15 points a game so far this year. Cal also has the toughest schedule in the country so far. They will make the NCAA's.

I also counter that beating UNC and/or MSU doesn't validate one's team. It doesn't seem to be an atypical occurrence so far.

Yup, Cal has lost four games already, but they were all to ranked teams on the road (Kansas, Syracuse, Ohio St (neutral court at MSG), and New Mexico.)

well I would counter that by saying the lowest margain of victory by any team Texas has faced is 11 points, and that no other currently unbeaten team has victorys over 2 top 10 teams.

I was suggesting that UNC and MSU are not Top 10 quality teams. Top 20, probably. I don't think that UNC will sniff the Top 10 again, in fact.

You know UNC has played 3 of the top 4 teams, 2 (essentially) on the road and one on neutral court. They also have beaten two top 20 teams. I dont know if UNC is a top 10 team or not, but there schedule has done them no favors.

That's true. It also doesn't help that a small group of teams have played each other as it makes it harder to evaluate.

Ugh, GT should not have lost to FSU. Only good thing about the game were the new jerseys.

UK beat long beach state in their 1pm
game. Wall, Patterson, and cousins all got into foul trouble early and sat most of the first half, with cousins sitting like 17 minutes.

It was tied at the half, and close with 10 minutes left, but we finally turned on the heat to win by like 13.

UK is now 13-0, we just played 3 games in 5 days after playing UNC and UCONN, so now we have a week long break until our next game. Oh, and we got win number 2001. W00t!

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Two Missouri women's basketball players suspended after an off-campus fight with a male cheerleader are back on the team.

The school announced Thursday that the one-week suspension of seniors Amanda Hanneman and Jessra Johnson has been lifted. They can start practicing Friday but won't play in Missouri's game Monday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The move comes one day after Boone County prosecutors said they will not pursue criminal charges in the case. They were arrested on Dec. 11 on suspicion of misdemeanor assault after Tiger cheerleader Justin Short said he was beaten up at his off-campus apartment following an early morning bar visit.

Johnson and Hanneman told police they were defending a female friend being physically restrained by Short. He later urged prosecutors to not file criminal charges.

So I told one of my friends back home that I went to the USC vs. Texas game and she said "Did you see Lil Romeo?" I told her no, why? She said that Lil Romeo plays basketball for the Trojans. He must be a benchwarmer because I didn't see him play :lol

Fucking rappers thinking they can play ball.
He may be able to but I seriously doubt he would be on the team if he weren't a somewhat famous rapper

He's a walkon who got a spot cause he was best buddies with Demarr Derozan. I don't know if he's played this season.

Speaking of us, good week for the Trojans beating the Vols and winning the
Diamond Head Classic. Mike Gerrity is the PG we were missing earlier in the
season.

#1 Kansas rolled over Belmont 81-51 tonight,
#2 Texas rolled over Gardner-Webb 95-63,
#3 Kentucky crushed Hartford 104-61 (with the 3rd string playing the last 12 minutes of the game),
#4 Purdue beat Iowa 67-56,
#5 Syracuse is up by 8 over Seton Hall with 17 seconds left,
#6 West Virginia pulled a win out of it's ass over Marquette 63-62,
#7 Duke beat Long Beach State 84-63,
#12 Kansas State beat Cleveland State 85-56,
#18 Clemson barely beat South Carolina State 70-67,
#20 Georgia Tech beat Winston-Salem 78-43,
#21 Mississippi beat Jacksonville St 90-75
and #17 New Mexico is currently smacking around #24 Texas Tech 74-52 with 7:54 left in the game

'twas a good night for college basketball. UK's John Wall broke the school assist record tonight with 16, and man were there some awesome assists.

Kentucky won't make it past the Sweet 16.

How about you wait until they lose a game before starting to predict when they will lose in the tournament.

Texas is obviously the most impressive team in the country. I argue Syracuse is second. Then a log jam with Kansas, Kentucky, WVU, Purdue, Duke, and Villanova. I think UNC is as good as any of those teams when they get everything together. Im not a huge fan of Michigan State at this point and I think after UNC there is a pretty big drop in talent. Maybe OSU once Turner gets healthy can join that rank.

Edit: With the SEC down again and the Pac 10 trying to stratch three bids together, the MWC and Atlantic 10 are going to get some bids this year. UNLV, New Mexico, and BYU seem to be pretty solid right now. Atlantic 10 has Dayton, Temple, and Richmond with maybe Rhode Island and Xavier getting them a fourth team.

So sad. He was supposed to fill the huge gap we had at the SG spot the last few years, but his potential never materialized. His confidence the last year was completely broken. He is a good kid, hope he finds a school willing to give a chance.

He was lazy and stupid. No defense and he took one retarded shot after another.

Yay we beat Northwestern 89-83. Took an OT to do it, but I'll take it. We are 3-0 vs. Top 25 teams now. Just a shame about our record in the other games.

NU fired 47 3-pt attempts tonight, holy shit.

Syracuse and Michigan are pretty much the examples of why preseason polls are so stupid. Syracuse unranked, but obvious once the season started one of the best teams in the country. Michigan ranked 14th and now is 6-6 with losses against some not great teams.

To be fair I think Syracuse would have been ranked if they hadn't lost that exhibition game to the DIII school.

Rankings mean so little in college basketball anyway. That's really a college football discussion. Syracuse went from unranked to Top 5 way quicker than a similar story would have happened in college football.
