Holy shit lol NCAA is a joke
I hear that Mark Emmert only makes decisions based on this.

Holy shit lol NCAA is a joke
When the other guy's smack talk includes things like StoOgE' s mention of A&M's championships and TCU's Heisman winner which were both from about 80 years ago I just look at it like a cartoon style trap made out of a big box with a stick holding it up and walk away. Pristine likes to use the tactic of walking right in arms a-flailing and knocking out the stick himself.
And they honestly should have only won one. The second was the infamous "one second left" game against Nebraska.Christ, Brown has only won two conference championships at Texas?
That's fucking pathetic.
Thanks Senator Mitchell.
Penn State was ready to go with the 65 limit this year, but the NCAA said no. Funny how things have worked out.
And they honestly should have only won one. The second was the infamous "one second left" game against Nebraska.
Yeah, OU has been the 400 lb. gorilla in the Big 12, but hopefully that's changing now.The real problem is back when we were good we couldn't beat OU and were stuck in the same division as them. When we did beat OU, we won the Big 12 for the most part. Except for that year with the three way tie stuff.

The look on Dareus' face gets me every time. It's the same look I get when my neighbor's five year-old tries to tackle me in their yard.
I'm gonna use peanut butter to lure you in next time. Like a craw dad.
Who's "they"?Honestly I don't think Penn State should even have a football team any more. They proved they can't handle the responsibility.
Who's "they"?
The only people who deserve direct blame for what happened are Sandusky and those who directly enabled his crimes to continue, which includes Paterno and the administrators that are currently being prosecuted.
Sure, you could argue that the deification of Paterno and his program also allowed the child abuse to continue, but that's way too abstract for me to say that PSU flat-out shouldn't have a football program.
Maybe too abstract for you, but not for me. There's no way this would have happened if football wasn't worshiped there, and was instead just treated the same as ping-pong or something. Harboring a child rapist=your football program goes bye-bye.
As much as I hate penn st, that whole town would die without the revenue the football program brings in. So now youre punished people who are in no way even connected to the school.
Rumors are that Delany had a huge hand in this, with 2016 being the reason.
Is the B1G east going to be the second best div after the SEC west? I mean Rutgers did beat Arkansas and Maryland murdered WVU.
You mean the same Arkansas that will be lucky to have more than 1 conference win? And the same WVU that struggled with William and Mary?

This is brilliant. Bravo. When the other guy's smack talk includes things like StoOgE' s mention of A&M's championships and TCU's Heisman winner which were both from about 80 years ago I just look at it like a cartoon style trap made out of a big box with a stick holding it up and walk away. Just saying the B1G easts bottom feeders are better than the other divisions bottom feeders.
You're starting to sound like an SECSECSEC fan.
Yeah, OU has been the 400 lb. gorilla in the Big 12, but hopefully that's changing now.
Unfortunately, I think Stoops is there for another 5-6 years at least.![]()
wait, what part of Texas are you from? They're crawfish 'round these parts
They're connected to the toxic football cult that deified Paterno. Yes it sucks for the people who just want to make a living, but you can make that argument about all sorts of things. We still put bank robbers in jail even if they have kids who will suffer from losing their parents. But the disgusting culture at Penn State needed to be killed at the root. Kill their program, and in 10 years give them a chance to restart if they can prove they'll do better this time.
Welp, lets just shut the whole school down fellas. Fuck anyone who currently goes to school there or went to school there, or the farmer down the street.
Glad we solved that problem but creating 60 other problems.
Mission Accomplished.

By your logic we could never punish anyone for anything ever because of collateral damage.
If you think the problem with Penn State was just one minor thing compared to 60 problems shutting down the football program would cause, then I think that shows you don't understand the extent of the problem.
Where did i say people shouldnt be punished? I 100% agree they should be those involved were and are being punished. Nor do I think it was a minor issue, but im asking why stop at the football program, why not the entire school? Hell, just shutdown the entire city.
I feel dirty defending penn st football program.

Because
1) The disease stems from the football program
2) Football is just a game, in this case an amateur game
It's not that big of a deal to not have football, and if it is, well, that's what caused the disease in the first place.
He's definitely past his prime, but things would also look a lot different if they had managed to win just one of those 3 other title games (especially the ones against LSU and UF). OU would probably still be rolling along and the SECSECSEC's dominance wouldn't look nearly as clear.I think Stoops is past his prime.
Okie St *should* be the best team in the Big 12 for the next few years. Everyone else kind of sucks or is middling at best and I think Stoops has lost his edge.
Until we hire Nick Saban, Jerry Gray and Bill Bellicheck and win everything every year for the next 30 years.

Last week's thread wasn't complete without a Pristine rant to close it out. That was beautiful.
Today is Tuesday...
Death penalty for SMU had so much colatteral damage that it is never going to happen again.
Virginia Tech helmets for Thursday's game -
![]()
I guess they have a quarry whose stone (called "Hokie Stone") is quarried only for use in construction projects by Virginia Tech? That's kind of cool. The helmet, though...
...guess I'll wait until I see the rest of the uniform to pass judgment.
I heard them talking about this on one of the sports talk shows this morning. Apparently there are a lot of cobble stone sidewalks or something there? I may have misheard that part though. Not sure about the look, especially without seeing the rest of the uniform. Colors seem a bit off for VT though.Virginia Tech helmets for Thursday's game -

The funny thing is that was just paying players. What happened at Penn State is orders of magnitude worse, and well, we see what the NCAA cares about.

I should have just said "unranked teams don't get to tell ranked teams what to put on their t-shirts..." But there's too much material to work with when talking to Longhorn fans about arrogance.

The SWC might still be alive today, if SMU didn't get destroyed like it did.
Lou Holtz said:In a room full of football fans, Holtz talked about the Southeastern Conference, and said while its full of great teams, its no better than the old Southwest Conference Arkansas played in during the 70s to mid 80s.
We had six teams in the top 20 when I was here. How about Texas? SMU was the best team money could buy. How about Houston and Texas A&M and Grant Taft at Baylor. It was difficult but that's what was good about it, Holtz said.

lol and here I thought I wouldnt have to read insane posts anymore about killing the program. bet it chaps your ass branduil that penn st is 11-5 since the sanctions
