College Football Week 11 - "They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom"

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!
I wonder how many of those 19 are on Alabama?

Edit: Bama only lists one FB on their roster. That's kind of crazy to me.
We run primarily out of a one-back set. Why do we need multiple fullbacks?

If I had to guess, the only person listed as a FB is Michael Nysewander, a former walk-on. Prior to that, we had Jalson Fowler and, I believe, Corey McCarron (walk-on and AJ McCarron's brother). Prior to Fowler, the last fullback I can remember us really "using" (and by "using" I totally mean "not using") was Le'Ron McClain.

Oddly the site I pulled this from lists Bama's offense as a 2 back pro style, but thinking about it you're right, 2 WR 2 TE Ace personnel is really more the standard look for Alabama for awhile now.

Auburn has 4 by comparison.
Florida 0
Georgia 6
Kentucky 1
Ole Miss 0
Miss State 0
Missouri 0
SCAR 5
aTm 0
Vanderbilt 2

Weird.
Only two of ours are any good, and really only one of them is good. Still kind of surprised that Bama doesn't list but they don't do I-formation anymore.

I think UGA only has two on scholarship, maybe only one. I think our best one is actually a walk-on. Might be one of those kids they gave a scholarship to.

A'Shawn Robinson goes in as "fullback" for Bama on goal line / jumbo package formations. Did the same with Terrence Cody when he was here, etc.

Just did the Yahoo Pick 'Em. Never thought I'd see a game where the pick distribution is 100% in favor of Army.

Guys, Rutgers is going to beat Nebraska.

I know my football and I'm telling you to take Rutgers. Nebraska is coached by Mike Riley! He's not good!

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!
The guy who runs the Yahoo Rivals site for Mizzou says Coach Pinkel has resigned effective immediately. Says the reasons are health related. I'm not sure what to think. He's the only coach I've really known as a Mizzou fan. Just a wild week.

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!
Joe Walljasper ?@JoeWalljasper From MU release: Pinkel diagnosed in May of 2015 with lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer of the blood. He received multiple treatments in May and June and after doctors indicated that the treatments wouldn’t interfere with his coaching duties, he decided that he would continue to coach the Tigers in 2015.

I posted in that thread because of the obvious implication on the timing, but I should point out that it may end up being a non related health issue. Although the suddenness is curious.

Edit - sounds like lymphoma and it is effective after this year.

fuck, and he had to accelerate the timetable this week. Not good.
I mean, let's be honest. Him quitting may be for health-related issues, but him quitting this week definitely did not happen independent of everything else going on at Missouri this week.

Really? I don't think he has done anything but stand by his players.

If it was related to this week it would be immediate, hes coaching till season end.

@ESPNCFB: UPDATE: Missouri coach Gary Pinkel will resign following the conclusion of the 2015 season.
Thanks for that. This changes the analysis from the initial rumors which was that he was stepping down Sunday.

Oh there's no question. There's no reason to announce this the day before a game if you aren't leaving until the end of the year. But I sincerely hope the best for him and that he can overcome the cancer.

Edit - I didn't see where you said this week. I don't think it changes the analysis though personally.

Listening to that interview with him on the soundcloud link, definitely reveals someone who lacks the energy to deal with the issues raised on Missouri's campus this week.

Listening to that interview with him on the soundcloud link, definitely reveals someone who lacks the energy to deal with the issues raised on Missouri's campus this week.

And many people were starting to circulate that interview today and criticize him for his stances (or non-stances). There were also a lot of people criticizing him and the team for taking their stand at all. I have no doubt that the decision to retire was made independent of these events. But I'm not convinced the timing of the announcement was unrelated to the recent events. He probably sensed he was becoming polarizing. There's not a lot of reason to reveal this today otherwise. The only thing I can think of is that the news was leaking so they just decided to go ahead and announce it.

Regardless, I wish him well.
