Yeah, that was my reaction, too. But I guess his company gets a block of Orange Bowl tix each year. So these are free, and supposedly good seats.

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
Bronco Mendenhall. And a 13.5 mil offer to Butch Jones?

Not sure if it was posted yet, but my boss is neighbors with Kent State's coach and goes to all their games. He was/is being interviewed by Cal.

Posted on it yesterday, think he would be a good fit for Cal.

Also when driving home last night I saw a SUV with "Love GA" plate, I hope it was you!

Nope, not me. Got a Georgia Bulldogs license plate trim thing. No SUV
or truck
either. NM about what I said after this.

Congrats, you can be an ESPN unnamed source now!

Hi ESPN. I just want you to know that I hate Lou Holtz. And Mark May. Corso is a doddering old fool, but you can keep him.

The only way Bo is leaving is a contract not being renewed. As long as he gets at least 9 win seasons and goes bowling, he's probably safe (then again, Solich).

We'd probably still have Callahan if he hadn't recorded another losing season. Well, his buddy Pederson was gone and couldn't back him up too, but still.

Yeah, yeah, I know. And while I kind of feel bad for La Tech for missing a bowl, it's pretty much their own fault for turning down the offer they had.

I thought the reason all the FSU fans want Jimbo gone is because he banned cameras at the practices, depriving them of shirtless pictures.

Whoa, crazy. Doesn't he understand what drives the average FSU fan? Doesn't he understand what they really want?

I think we were locked into the Alamo as long as KSU and OU made a BCS bowl. As soon as OU got bumped, all the other bowls had made plans and we were left with the leftovers.

I understand it's politics and all, and it could definitely be worse--it's a New Year's Day bowl against an opponent we should beat, and it's in our recruiting territory (and tickets will be cheap, although I'm not sure if I'm going).

I can't imagine this helps the already rumored to be very strained relationship between Gundy and your AD. That's a pretty bad drop of the ball on the part of the administration.

Did your AD try to sell your team to the bowls? We almost got knocked out of the Vegas bowl by a late push from Arizona, but luckily our AD fought back and Arizona has now dropped two bowls down.

Gundy showed how pleased he was yesterday by picking up UT officials at the airport and driving them to his house. A little more public than normal interviews. Pretty much wanted people to know what he was doing.

Didn't really have the time, and they were competing against Texas. Bowls will usually jump on the opportunity to take us or OU, and everyone else had made arrangements with their respective bowls.

Hadn't been keeping up with all the specifics of stuff but the chatter on Tech boards for the last few months of rumors has been "why would a very successful coach leave a fat contract at his alma mater?" until the last week or two when it was "there must be some kind of real behind the scenes issues there with all these rumors continuing to come up about a very successful coach with a fat contract at his alma mater."

I know Tech officials have been pushing hard for the bowl in Houston even when it was a very real possibility to get the "better" Holiday bowl. Holiday picks first, has the better matchup (as far as high profile opponent at least, Meineke is the more winnable game), has more "prestige," etc. but I think our coaches realized that past the Cotton there's not too much difference as far as national perception and Houston is a much better situation for getting both fans and recruits to the game.

From the Big10 blog:

By comparison, the ACC title game -- usually the butt of bad-attendance jokes -- drew 64,778 on Saturday. The Pac-12 title game between UCLA and Stanford was held at Stanford on Friday. The announced crowd: 31,622.

Not really...

Although organizers officially sold 64,778 tickets, I would guess about 30,000 people actually showed up. There were entire rows of seats available, even in the lower-level end zones.

Well, Cal. You should get Dykes, not like he has a bowl game to prep for.

I'm happy to see Dykes moving up in the world but will be somewhat bitter if Tuberville lays an egg and gets fired next year when Dykes is no longer available for us to hire. A lot of Tech fans think he could be "our Gundy."

Right now I think keeping Neal Brown and his offensive staff in Lubbock for at least one more season is the thing I'm most worried about. He apparently doesn't have a great relationship with Tuberville and has been connected to a few jobs recently (OC at Kentucky being the big one since he's alumni) after doing some interviews last offseason. After the massive defensive staff turnover for the last 4 years our offensive staff has basically been the only source of stability on the team; offense has been a top 15 type team each of the last 3 years with good recruiting from high schools (great 2014 recruiting thus far with our two commits) while defense has been a dumpster fire that is running out to grab all the relatively unknown JUCO prospects it can find.

Is he 40?

Help me welcome the incoming Notre Dame fans. These are the posters that are brand new in the last 2 weeks to CFB-GAF!

64,000 ACC CG tickets sold, huh?

So, basically they got about $256,000 off of ticket sales!

We're out of room for SEC fans.

Unless you're an LSU fan. Are you an LSU fan? You're now an LSU fan.

Do corporations have to buy their tickets or are they donated by the conferences? Because if they're donated, I'd take off about half of that.

I'm going to guess you're either a Dawg fan or a Wartiglesman. Which is it?

College Shameday season recap

The best part:
Shamed in secret: Purdue

Quick—what's the best bowl-eligible team Purdue beat this year? If your answer was anything other than "NULL SET ERROR," I'm sorry, but you were incorrect. The Boilermakers continue to be a delightful nothing of a team, perfectly .500 in every way. Examples! Purdue tallied 247 first downs in 2012; opponents had 246. Purdue averaged 5.5 yards per offensive play; opponents, 5.6. Purdue put up 29.9 points per game—and allowed 29.0. Purdue Football: Did It Even Happen?

To be fair, there's only a small lunatic fringe of the UGA fanbase that wants Richt gone.

I know a lot who are tired of not winning the bigger games. They want SEC championships and National Title victories too.

For what its worth, I feel that our team has too many penalties, which ends up hurting us much more in bigger games.

Ahhh, Daryl from Columbus (the Rabid UGA Fan) has decided to quit listening and calling the PAWL Finebaum show. :(

I know a lot who are tired of not winning the bigger games. They want SEC championships and National Title victories too.

For what its worth, I feel that our team has too many penalties, which ends up hurting us much more in bigger games.

Now, I never heard Richt say this, but Verne/Gary mentioned that he understood that UGA always has a large amount of penalties, and "he's fine with that" They imply that either UGA's team strategy includes knowing they're gonna get some penalties, I guess.

BANNED.

Reason: I said you're now an LSU fan!

I will not be coerced into being a LSU fan. I bleed Crimson.

Sorry to put you in this uncomfortable situation, but at least they have good food. No go buy something purple and gold, and make a name for yourself.

As a fan of the Tide and the Falcons, I vote to sell Louisiana back to the French.

We'll even throw in Mississippi at no extra charge.
