College Football Week 6 - If the Stanford Tree falls...

Well, they are exactly the same, assuming the judge accepts the plea and finds you guilty.

I think he meant he took months of time to take the same deal.

Also, 2 years is presumptively the minimum, but is extreme. They should have reduced the charges or the punishment, if possible under LA law.

Anyways, I will console myself by believing the culprit is most likely a huge douche.
You also waive any right to appeal if you plead guilty rather than receive a guilty verdict from trial.

Bama's up there because we're football crazy.
Kentucky's up there because they're basketball crazy
Texas is up there because Texas.

Maybe. In some states, Texas included, If you plead guilty but are unagreed and go open on punishment you can appeal sentencing. But sentencing is sort of like a mini-trial, anyways, so that makes sense.

But otherwise, correction accepted.

Louisville had the ranking and the hype for the Big East, and they are 5-0 and I think they absolutely are still capable of running the gauntlet, but Cincy and Rutgers are very legit...and we can't even take Pitt lightly, either. And we have to watch out for some freakish USF upswing, too.

I think people overstated the loss of West Virginia, especially in light of the resurgence of Louisville and Rutgers.

Glad to see Florida is still up there, despite some major failures in the money-making Football Department of late. But it really is about the infrastructure, and anything but continued, sustained irrelevance will harm that.

Unless you are a large Catholic school with your personal tv contract that has been irrelevant for 30 years.

And, yeah. That Big East article seems premature. I guess they are glad they are negotiating a new deal, because all of those teams are potential poaching subjects of other leagues. But maybe new deal and new exit fees can keep the BEast alive!

I'm not sure why Bama is on that list anyway. Shouldn't we be compared to the other 32 NFL teams?

They should make you guys pro and move you to LA. Saban would only be too happy to cut an extra 20 scholarships. He would have the biggest practice squad in the history of the world. Grey shirt to get on the practice squad, practice squad to get on the team.

Until he cuts and runs, and goes back to make Kentucky a football powerhouse.

Saban only does SEC west schools, now. I'm thinking he'd go to Ole Miss.

Hah, I misread that as "only does SEC schools," without the west modifier. And I nodded, and said to myself, fair enough, he is probably right.

And then I saw Ole Miss and knew it was lies!

And then I reread.

Because Nebraska definitely hasn't seen the color red before...

It does look cool, I admit, but these (insert color) Outs just strike me as cheesy.

Plus we stole the idea from Penn State, and I hate mimicking Penn State in any fashion.

Yeah. We (WVU) do "Gold Rush," which normally isn't that big of a deal because fans are encouraged to wear gold shirts anyway. The main reason I dislike them are because I hate our gold-on-gold uniforms. Unfortunately, we're doing another one for Oklahoma.

I did really like doing a "White Out" for Pat White's last game. Plus it snowed, which was even cooler.

Hey, man. The Jags have their issues. But posting pictures from warm-ups is cheating. Unless you are just pointing out the tarps, then yeah. I don't recognize the LOA ones, but maybe the just sold some advertising and replaced standard Jaguars tarps that used to be there.

I feel bad for Jacksonville's stadium. Without the tarps, it would be the largest stadium in the NFL. Yes, larger then the Giants/Jets and the Cowboys. The Jags will never have that kind of fan support.

Granted, this is a separate issue from why in the hell Jacksonville has a team and LA doesn't.

Reminds me of the Baylor Tarp.

...Yet they're building a new $250 million stadium. Good luck with that.

Over their history in the Big XII they've probably sold more tickets to opposing fans than their own. Seeing pictures of the crowd at Texas v Baylor games is hilarious.

So do they count the tarped area in capacity? For instance do they still get blacked out even if they don't sell the tarp seats?

I don't think so, I think that is why they put out the tarps. I don't think it is worth the effort just for pride. And the extra seating really is essential for the Cocktail Party.

Anyways, just read up on Baylor. Tarp covers 6,000 seats, they had to pull it off once in 8 years (including RGIII years) because they needed 500 extra. And they are building a new stadium.

edit: Also I can see where we sat for the glorious Gator Bowl of yesteryear.

Texas v Baylor is to be expected though, its only an hour away from Austin.

Iowa State outselling Baylor, however, is the hilarious one to me.

It's a little crazy to think that given how much more popular the NFL is compared to NCAA, NFL stadiums are mostly dwarfed by college stadium capacity.

Maybe it is because there are more games, higher expense and better TV options? I think most NFL venues top out at around 60-70k.

Well, now they'll be able to sell even more tickets to opposing fans. Can't go wrong!

I sure as hell can't afford to go to pro games. But to be fair, I can't really afford to go to College games now that I am no longer a student.

TV is probably a factor. Sunday is probably a factor. Blackouts are probably a factor.

I think its the NFL doesn't allow bleacher seating or something?

Soldier Field used to be a 100k stadium, but now only seats 67k.

Funny, yes, but the pics don't have the same humor factor as it's not QUITE as bad for schools other than UT.

If nothing else their new stadium should be pretty cool. It's not exactly the Mighty Mississip' but I love stadiums by bodies of water and theirs will be right on the river.

That might be it, or maybe they just realized they could charge more for a seat.

But wow at the drop in capacity if that was the only change they made.

Ah, that would probably make sense. Chairbacks take up more space I guess.

Probably would be insanely expensive to try to make a stadium with 80-100k chairback seats to NFL standards. I know Jerry World allows 100k with standing room only I think

Wiki says Soldier is actually the smallest with around 62k. But the former version was a horseshoe, probably of just bleachers, and then the cheap seats of like 30,000 seats set up in the open end. That had to be a terrible view.

edit: Looks like seats don't cost quite that much extra space, Soldier was at 55k with bleachers, then put in seats and then expanded to 67k. Not sure why it is only 61.5 now, unless Wiki is wrong.
