College Football Week 9 - You've Got the Touch

Hey Bertram, I know you're definitely coming to your second favorite place to watch a football game other than Columbus this weekend. I'll save a seat at my tailgate for you!

Can't.

I'll be looking after a couple of my little cousins this Saturday, and I hear State College isn't very kid-friendly.

Dat motivation. Nom nom nom.

Last week’s 15-for-36 passing performance with two interceptions has done nothing to hurt Munchie Legaux’s confidence.

When I asked him Tuesday about Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, he was quick to praise his counterpart with the Cardinals.

“He’s a pretty good player,” Legaux said. “He makes a lot of plays for those guys. His passing efficiency is really high. He takes care of the football. He’s the team leader so he’s a pretty good quarterback.”

Asked if he thought he and Bridgewater were similar quarterbacks, Legaux said, “I’m better. We’ll see Friday night.”

Ohio State and oregon have agreed to home and home for the 2020/2021 season. We are beefing up our schedule big time for the coming years.

BY then I bet Oregon will have slipped back into mediocrity though.

Looks like Mt. Union is playing pissed off this year after losing the DIII championship last year.

7

Total points DIII Mount Union has allowed opponents this season. The Purple Raiders posted their fifth consecutive shutout this past weekend, and have now outscored opponents 310-7 through six games, including not giving up a single point for the past 313 minutes, 50 seconds of game time.

Marshall taking out UCF this week.

It will be their Big Least going away present.

that's rich :jnc

Goldeneye GET EM

You are just upset that Louisville hasn't beat Marshall in 30+ years. I was there when we won last year. The Papa John's owner pulled his old car into the endzone area at halftime and cranked his engine. How much money has he given?

I am really just playing. Louisville has some pretty great fans and I had a great time. It is interesting how every single seat is a chairback.

I really wish everything wasn't getting screwed up by money. I would love to have a more regional conference with Marshall, Cincy, Louisville, Ohio, Temple, ECU, Memphis (maybe bball only haha), etc...

This should be a good game... can't wait. Actually wish I could make it up to Huntington. I'll miss playing Marshall too and it does suck that TV contracts/BCS rule the day and are ruining more sensible conference alignments.

I once got into an argument with a high school friend (and Mount Union alum) over football.

He claimed that Mount's football program was the best college football program in the state. I responded by telling him that every single Mount Union player would give at least one testicle to stand on the sidelines at Ohio State.

I missed on UNC-Duke, of all things. I hang my head in shame for stopping believing in the Dukies.

I want to say, there was a nice amount of people that picked Duke. I started to make a list of Duke Believers of The Week, but once I hit 6 people out of the first 10, it became apparent that there are alot of Duke Believers.

Except you.

I'm just glad we're not in pick 'em this week so I wouldn't have to lie to myself or pick against my team. I just want to get out of Tallahassee without any significant injuries and move onto the games we have a chance to win.

I don't know if anybody is also wasting their time with this Arkansas St. - ULL game but holy shit, these refs are crazy. 3rd and 9 and the receiver gets stopped a good 1 1/2 yards short of the 1st and somehow they give him an EXTRA 3 YARDS for the first. Then they review it and somehow uphold it to the disbelief of everyone. They spotted him a yard over the first when he was obviously stopped almost 2 yards short.

I truly am a monster. As penance, I shall pick Duke the next 2 times they are in Pick'em, regardless of opponent.

Yeah, I saw that. God awful call.

In QB notes, Everett Golson and Sean Mannion will both be starting for their respective teams this weekend. Adjust your picks accordingly!

You should really join RedRaiderSports.com. Chris Level posts very interesting things there.

Yeah. People post things on subscription sites.

Hate to be the one to tell you this, but sometimes the subscription sites don't know what they are talking about, or are just speculating, or are trading in rumors for your money.

Reverse jinxing didn't work for Gloom last week and I hope it doesn't work for you this week.

I think an FSU loss is way more possible than some are giving credit. I mean, this year's Duke team is just as good or better than some of the shit Maryland or NC State teams we have lost to in the past decade.

The HP/CBSSports.com Heisman Straw Poll, 10-23-2012
Player, total points (first-place votes in parentheses)

1. Collin Klein, QB, Kansas State — 31 (10)

2. Manti Te’o, LB, Notre Dame — 10

3. AJ McCarron, QB, Alabama — 6

4. (tie) Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia — 4

Braxton Miller, QB, Ohio State — 4

Kenjon Barner, RB, Oregon — 4

7. (tie) Marqise Lee, WR, USC — 3 (1)

Seth Doege, QB, Texas Tech — 3

9. Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M — 1

Man you know its a down year for the Heisman when a defensive player and the qb at Alabama are in the top 3.

That's an amazingly fast recovery for Mannion. I thought he needed knee surgery?

He had surgery! Honestly it seems like a really dangerous decision, but I guess against UW is the best time to test him if you're gonna consider bringing him back.

To be fair, AJ is on track to not only break almost every single QB record we have but to completely shatter them. For example, he's got 16 TDs this year, and our record is 20 held by Greg McElroy.

He's also garnering a little hype because of his efficiency. If he throws a pick over the next couple of weeks, he'll fall off that list real quick. This could happen this week against Mississippi State as they have a fantastic secondary and our game with them last year was the last time that AJ threw an interception.

Oh I'm not really knocking what he's done. It was mostly a joke about how past Alabama QBs have done :-P

What's that? I thought I heard the Cyan-signal going off... aha!

Been there for 2.5 years and trust me, the information is miles ahead of what you're collecting in that cesspool RaiderPower. While you were posting that Twitter says we got an unnamed OL commit on RP the people on RRS had already known a name for hours and knew he was as good as committed months ago. Anything decent on RP is stolen from RRS, and the pay section on RP is worse than the free section.

Nobody has said for sure that he's out for the season (and neither am I) but anybody with any info whatsoever knew he wasn't playing last week despite suiting up. There was a 0% chance he played last week no matter what the dress roster said. I won't be surprised at all if he's back before the bowl game, I'm just planning on him not being. I WILL be VERY surprised if he plays against KSU, though, and mildly surprised if he's back against UT. I wouldn't put his chances against KSU at quite 0% but there's definitely an asymptote along the axis.

Your line about the pay sites makes it pretty obvious you just have a general bias against pay sites (admittedly deserved in many/most cases) and haven't actually tried out RRS at all.

ULL is my school.
Why what happened in the game? Im at work so I couldnt see it.

So I was on a Trojans blog for a few minutes and this guy was bitching about how the Big 12 doesn't play defense, so I went and looked up total defense and found this:

Pac 12
ASU 13th
Utah 29th
USC 30th
Stanford 34th
Oregon St 37th
Oregon 46th
Washington 55th
ucla 69th
Cal 82nd
Washington St 102nd
Arizona 104th
Colorado 112th

Big 12
Texas Tech 7th
Oklahoma 15th
TCU 17th
Kansas St 23rd
Oklahoma St 45th
Iowa St 56th
Kansas 85th
Texas 107th
West Virginia 113th
Baylor 120th

Total Defense is obviously kind of flawed, but I think the basic point should be that Pac 12 fans don't really have much right to criticize the Big 12 for its defensive shortcomings.
